I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Able to Walk Again

Luo Anping’s shin bone was completely fractured, and using ordinary methods alone wasn’t enough. Beisitian knew that in this world, surgeries could achieve healing, but that came with high risk and exorbitant costs. Given their current family situation, even if they sold everything, they might not afford it.

Beisitian was very confident in herself. She fully reset Luo Anping’s leg bone on the first night. Every night since then, she would feel the bone, constantly checking for any misalignment to prevent any further dislocation.

Luo Anping had been lying in bed for over a week, and Beisitian felt it was about time to proceed with the final step.

Promoting blood circulation needed to continue consistently. At night, Beisitian used another type of Xuan Talisman that could accelerate the scabbing of the bone fracture surface—essentially promoting bone marrow growth.

This was also why she couldn’t wait any longer; bone healing required the scabbing of the fracture surface, which meant continuous bone marrow growth, and bone marrow growth necessitated blood flow, hence her constant promotion of blood circulation at the injury site.

However, accelerated blood circulation could also speed up the closure of the fracture surface, so Beisitian, after confirming the perfect reunion of the bones, prepared to use the Xuan Talisman again to promote scabbing of the fracture surface.

If waiting for natural healing, a simple splint wouldn’t suffice to fix the leg, and Luo Anping was too young, lacked self-discipline; staying still for a week was already challenging.

Every night for a week, Beisitian applied two types of Xuan Talisman, one to promote blood circulation and one to accelerate scabbing of the bone fracture surface.

With the combination of the two, the swelling and pain in the lower leg subsided first.

The leg was no longer swollen or painful, but it didn’t mean complete recovery, yet Luo Anping couldn’t hold back anymore.

”Ping’an, if you don’t want to become a cripple, just stay put in bed!” Beisitian warned, casting a glance at Luo Anping.

”I just want to turn over.” Luo Anping said pitifully.

Lying in bed, his whole body felt stiff; now he understood the torment Beisitian endured three months ago.

”Sis, why can’t I eat eggs?” Luo Anping asked.

Previously, the four of them could each eat an egg every night, but since his injury, he wasn’t given any. Weren’t injured people supposed to get extra nutrition!

Some substances in eggs would largely promote the closure of the fracture surface, and if the two fracture surfaces grew separately, they couldn’t unite anymore, turning him into a cripple!

Beisitian explained this but still couldn’t make a five-year-old understand, while Luo Anguo added from the side, ”Why ask so many questions? It’s impossible someone would mistreat you. If your sister says no eggs, then no eggs!”

Mrs. Qin also glared at him, ”Skipping a few days won’t hurt!”

Though they didn’t understand, Beisitian would never deprive herself for Luo Anping’s sake, so if she barred him from eating, she likely had a valid reason.

In terms of treatment, they didn’t understand, so they followed those who did!

Beisitian chuckled; fortunately, she had encountered those who understood. If they had been muddle-headed, she might not have lasted up to now.

Every day, Beisitian helped Luo Anping with leg exercises, which effectively promoted circulation.

During this period, Yang Wulang hadn’t visited Luo Er’s family. He was busy procuring medicine and tending to the increased cases of fever and colds due to the changing season, frequently administering IV drips.

Today, having some free time, he remembered the kid from Luo Er’s family and decided to visit.

Yang Wulang, having removed the drip from his last patient, headed out. As the villagers’ conditions weren’t urgent, slight delays didn’t matter.

Yang Wulang knocked on Luo Er’s family’s door, and he heard a response from inside. Startled, he thought the voice sounded like the kid from Luo Er’s family?

Impossible, wasn’t the kid supposed to be bedridden?

The door usually remained unlocked during the day; thus, receiving the response, he pushed open the door, witnessing the person inching along slowly in the courtyard. His eyes widened, thinking he was mistaken.

The person moving slowly was indeed Luo Er’s son, Luo Anping!

”Uncle Yang!” Luo Anping called out.

”Hmm...” Yang Wulang responded instinctively, staring at Luo Anping with wide eyes, ”How did you stand up? Don’t you need crutches?”

Luo Anping didn’t understand Yang Wulang’s confusion, looking like he’d seen a ghost, ”My sister said I don’t need crutches.”

”Your sister? Beisitian?”

Luo Anping, agitated, replied, ”I have only one sister.”

Yang Wulang was still puzzled, hearing Luo Anguo’s call from inside, he hurried in, wondering why he was discussing so much with a kid!

Inside, before Luo Anguo could speak, Yang Wulang impatiently asked, ”Is the kid’s leg healed?”

Luo Anguo’s face showed no trace of worry anymore, his face relaxed, even Mrs. Qin’s forehead brow softened significantly!

”Healed, healed, haven’t you seen he can walk?” Luo Anguo chuckled heartily.

When Luo Anping got out of bed, Luo Anguo had difficulty believing his son wouldn’t be confined to bed or reliant on crutches forever, until Luo Anping managed to move step by step on his own, making Luo Anguo believe.

Luo Anguo, who seldom shed tears, once again cried, different from two weeks ago. Back then, he felt pain for his son and lamented fate’s unfairness, now he was tears of joy!

Yang Wulang almost blurted out, ”Impossible”, but fortunately held back, realizing such a comment would be unwelcome.

”Who treated him?” Yang Wulang quickly asked.

He pondered whether they had gone to a city hospital? Even if they did and performed the surgery at the fastest speed, recovery wouldn’t be this quick!

Typically, with good recovery, it’d take at least twenty days to walk, this being with excellent recovery, usually at least a month; for serious cases like Luo Anping’s, a bit over a month was needed.

Yet now, how long had it been, from the onset till now, barely two weeks?

”Who else but my Little Tian’er? My Little Tian’er completely inherited her father’s medical skills! More than inherited, she took it a basket further!” Mrs. Qin said delightedly.

Luo Anguo laughed heartily, ”What more than a basket, that’s called surpassing the master!”

The couple jested and laughed, while Yang Wulang remained stunned at the doorway, pondering whether Beisitian indeed could heal?

Yang Wulang called Luo Anping over, asked him to sit on the kang and squatted down to gently feel his shin.

Though Yang Wulang was unskilled in this area, he could align bones and essentially discern recovery levels.

After touching, his face turned utterly shocked; had he not personally reset this child’s leg bone two weeks prior, he wouldn’t believe the child’s leg bone had once broken!

”Could I speak with Little Tian’er?” Yang Wulang turned and asked Luo Anguo.
