I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: With a Benevolent Attitude

”You mean I have no other choice but you now?” Beisitian’s lips curled slightly, but there was no warmth.

Zhang Baoxia dropped her business and ran to this little shabby town just to recruit this embroidery woman skilled in Double-sided Embroidery.

Originally, she had various tactics and methods in mind, but after seeing Beisitian, she somewhat changed her mind.

The reason was simple, people tended to judge others by appearances. Beisitian was dressed in shabby clothes, clearly someone from the countryside, looking plain and seemed neither rich nor well-connected. Zhang Baoxia was also in a hurry to leave, so keeping a barely polite tone was already difficult.

Hearing a tone that didn’t belong to a rural person, Zhang Baoxia frowned and said, ”Does Miss Bei still need to consider other options? Where else could you find better conditions than what I’m offering? You’ve seen Zhang Baoli’s place. Even if you become her formal embroidery woman, earning one hundred and fifty a month is impossible! Not to mention the commission!”

”The terms you’re offering are indeed not bad,” Beisitian looked at Zhang Baoxia’s proud demeanor and said, ”But good terms don’t mean I must choose you.”

Zhang Baoxia’s actions of poaching her own people were really unethical. Not to mention, Beisitian had no intention of becoming an embroidery woman. Even if she had planned to be an embroidery woman for life, she would need to consider carefully.

In fact, she and Zhang Baoli didn’t have much of a deep friendship; it was merely a relationship of mutual interest. However, with Zhang Baoli, you could be in a friendship mode, where at least both parties were on equal footing. But with Zhang Baoxia, from Beisitian’s brief interaction, she would have to be her subordinate, subject to her control and constraints.

In her previous life, when she and her master traveled around, as long as they showed the Mystical Doctor Seal, officials big and small were not only polite but also offered their utmost convenience. Now, should she be constrained by the owner of an embroidery workshop?

Whether it was her master’s aloof nature or her own character, neither would flaunt the Mystical Doctor Seal everywhere they went. They more enjoyed the freedom of self-identifying as wandering doctors, unfettered and free.

Therefore, unless someone came at her aggressively, Beisitian was usually peaceful and kind. People like Zhang Baoxia, who carried an attitude of ’you should naturally submit to me,’ made Beisitian want to step on them.

Feelings are mutual. Looking at Beisitian leisurely saying she didn’t intend to choose her, Zhang Baoxia was also enraged.

She had come all the way from Anma Town to this small shabby place just for this embroidery woman skilled in Double-sided Embroidery. Originally, she already had an excellent Suzhou embroidery woman working under her, and if she could recruit this one skilled in Double-sided Embroidery, she wouldn’t have to wait for Anma Town to be promoted to Anma City and could directly become the boss of an embroidery workshop in a large coastal city instead.

Because there was exactly a vacancy in Shanghai’s embroidery workshop, and this opportunity was extremely rare. Moreover, she was the direct line of this generation’s head. As long as she had skilled people under her and there were no management issues, basically the position was hers!

But she wasn’t the only one in this generation; there were two other competitors besides her. Worried that those two would come and poach when they heard about Beisitian, she immediately took the late-night train to get here.

The moment she saw Beisitian, she looked down on her, seeing her as a rural girl. Because of her subconscious disdain, she didn’t take Beisitian seriously. She thought that as long as she offered good conditions, a girl from the countryside would probably pack up and leave with her that very night.

Who would have thought it would turn out like this!

Beisitian’s refusal not only made Zhang Baoxia lose face, but more importantly, she failed to recruit her!

Even though Zhang Baoxia somewhat regretted souring the relationship, there was no way she’d lower herself to speak kindly to a village girl!

”I’ll give you one more chance, think it over. Someone from a rural background like you, going to a big town to develop is a dream many people yearn for. Given your background and conditions, working your whole life probably won’t surpass what I’m offering. Surely you don’t want to stay in the countryside forever?” Zhang Baoxia said.

After the policy opened up, the world outside became wider, offering many opportunities. Many people had walked out from the countryside and mountains, hoping to escape poverty and seize this chance to become urban dwellers.

This was almost the mindset of most young people from the countryside. They would search all over for opportunities even when there were none, let alone when one was placed in front of Beisitian.

Beisitian looked at her charitable expression, chuckling inwardly, wondering where this person’s confidence came from.

To many, her words were tempting. Faced with such a rare opportunity, who would care about her attitude? Anyone else would have accepted her recruitment.

But Beisitian wasn’t an ordinary person; she didn’t regard Zhang Baoxia highly, let alone the opportunity she offered.

In her eyes, Zhang Baoxia was even less significant than Zhang Baoli.

”Such a precious opportunity should be reserved for those who care,” Beisitian said, deciding not to waste more words and tried to leave.

Her upbringing made her unwilling to easily speak harsh words. Her obvious refusal meant if the other party had any sense, they’d leave.

But Zhang Baoxiang was obviously not one of those sensible people; she stepped across and blocked Beisitian’s path again.

”Don’t be ungrateful! You, a village girl, I lowered myself to ask you, and yet you remain clueless and keep refusing me. Fine, if you have the skills, I’ll let you know that no matter how capable you are, if I don’t let you walk this path, you’ll have to go back home and farm for me!”

Zhang Baoxia’s heavily powdered face looked rather fierce as she spoke venomously to Beisitian.

After Zhang Baoxia spoke, she coldly snorted, stomped off in her little heels. She had already made up her mind; wouldn’t this village girl rely solely on her skill in Double-sided Embroidery? So she would cut off her path!

Either she’d come crying back to beg, or she’d have to roll back home to farm!

Watching Zhang Baoxia’s haughty retreat, Beisitian’s smile slightly faded, her bright eyes carrying a bit of coolness.

There are always some self-righteous people in the world who, when they meet most people, can win easily, thus fueling their arrogance.

Upholding the benevolent spirit of a healer, Beisitian decided to help Zhang Baoxia see the reality of society, and at the same time, help put her eyes, which had grown to her head, back in place, and let her understand what ”there is always someone better” means.

A single Zhang Baoxia couldn’t affect her mood too much. She had important matters to attend to on this trip, so she continued walking towards Jishi Pharmacy.
