I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Guests Offering Congratulations (Part 1)

Providing double-sided embroidery technology?!

The people with the surname ”Zhang” exchanged glances, all seeing the surprise in each other’s eyes. Buying radishes is not as good as buying seeds; doing everything oneself is the best. If Beisitian was willing to provide technology, it was more valuable than directly providing embroidery work!

Zhang Baoli looked thankfully at Beisitian. With her words, her status within the family would undoubtedly rise, and she would soon leave Qingzhou Town for better opportunities!

Beisitian discussed the contract with several people, and there were some minor disagreements on this matter. The Bao Niang Embroidery Workshop naturally hoped to bind her firmly to their ship, but Beisitian refused!

As the group was having disputes, Chun Ni once again crossed the yard to the front of the house.

Zhang Baoli knew important guests had arrived and quickly went outside.

”Sister Bao Li, the proprietor of Jishi Pharmacy and the owner from the south’s Wenfang Society are here!” Chun Ni said, glancing at Beisitian, clearly indicating that these two came for her.

Zhang Baoli was mildly surprised, then remembered the promise she made to Zhou Jiren. She had forgotten because of the family visitors!

Now that they were at the door, it seemed inappropriate not to invite them in. Yet, to bring them in while discussing the contract seemed unsuitable.

”Bao Li, who has arrived?” Old Nine Zhang Baoju asked.

”They are Little Tian’er’s friends, likely here to congratulate her,” Zhang Baoli replied honestly.

”In that case, we shouldn’t turn them away. We can wait for a bit. Let the guests come in.”

”Okay.” Chun Ni didn’t wait for Zhang Baoli’s instructions and turned to invite them in.

Before long, Zhou Jiren and Feng Yunzhang walked in together.

Beisitian had heard, and seeing the two, she smiled gently, ”Have you come to congratulate me? Unfortunately, I’m not the host, and I don’t even have the right to offer you a cup of tea. Please excuse me!”

Zhou Jiren chuckled, ”Since Miss Bei has said so, perhaps another day you can invite us to your home as guests. We would be delighted.”

”My home is inconvenient; perhaps we can meet up in a teahouse another time,” Beisitian directly declined.

Zhou Jiren didn’t mind.

After they came in, they first assessed the people in the room, finding all unfamiliar faces, and turned their gaze to Beisitian.

Beisitian smiled and said, ”These are the bosses from Bao Niang Embroidery Workshop in Beijing.”

While they didn’t recognize these people, Zhang Baoguo and the others knew of Zhou Jiren. He was the chief of Jishi Pharmacy in East China, frequently active in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and sometimes seen in newspapers.

Especially in recent years, as Jishi Pharmacy strongly emerged, posturing to contend with Chongren Pharmacy, Zhou Jiren became even more well-known.

The embroidery workshop might belong to a relatively obscure field, but Western medicine did not.

Not only was Zhou Jiren familiar, but after Feng Yunzhang introduced himself, Old Nine Zhang Baoju suddenly recalled who he was.

By fortunate coincidence, Zhang Baoju had attended a literary symposium where one needed some fame in the literary world to participate. He went with a friend to explore other fields.

At the symposium, he had seen Mr. Wu, then engaged in conversation with several people—conversations inevitably laced with scholarly topics. He didn’t understand much and didn’t pay attention.

However, among them was Feng Yunzhang, and judging by appearances, Mr. Wu held him in high regard.

Other literary figures he might not know, but Mr. Wu he certainly recognized.

Because Mr. Wu was not only a literary figure but also a senior leader!

Generally, those who could converse with Mr. Wu likely didn’t have poor backgrounds. Yet why did he see these two people in a remote town?

The main question was, how did Beisitian, an embroidery woman, even one who knew Double-sided Three-different Embroidery, know these two people?

Their fields were completely unrelated and had no connection at all!

Furthermore, the way these two treated Beisitian lacked any sense of haughtiness, being very calm and equal, just like treating a friend!

Yes, friends!

No matter how Beisitian knew these two, the assessment and estimation of Beisitian in their minds changed once more.

They first decided to retreat on the contract. Even without these two appearing, Beisitian wasn’t someone they could bind easily; better to curry favor. Since she didn’t care for Bao Niang Embroidery Workshop, presumably, other workshops would be the same.

Moreover, judging by her words, her involvement seemed due to Zhang Baoli, so elevate Zhang Baoli, letting her primarily interact with Beisitian going forward!

Old Nine Zhang Baoju quickly made a decision.

Both parties exchanged courtesies, and naturally, the Zhang Family would not slight them, offering them tea and a seat.

”Miss Bei, I never expected you not only write beautifully, understand Chinese medicine, but also embroider. Before, I only thought of embroidery as making clothes and patterns, but seeing your name and that piece on TV yesterday, it truly impressed me!” Feng Yunzhang praised sincerely.

Beautiful writing, knowledge of Chinese medicine, and embroidery...

The Zhang Family individuals were astounded; are today’s village women so capable?

”Boss Feng, you’re too kind, merely for livelihood,” Beisitian smiled lightly.

If someone else claimed it for livelihood, Feng Yunzhang would scoff, as intellectuals disdained any link to base or vulgar pursuits. But hearing it from Beisitian, her clear-eyed look, mild tone, and most importantly, her skill set projected a kind of unique confidence and candidness.

Feng Yunzhang recalled yesterday’s TV report—a piece titled ’Phoenix Dance Dragon Plate’ with a three-million offer, yet the original author turned it down!

The original author, evidently, was Beisitian!

Back then, having a million yuan was still new; at least in Qingzhou Town, one could count the millionaires on one hand. Beisitian could resist such temptation without waver?

Perhaps because of this, Feng Yunzhang found her words filled with solid confidence.

”Miss Bei, why did you turn it down?” Feng Yunzhang suddenly asked.

Although the question was abrupt, everyone present knew what he referred to.

Zhou Jiren, sitting beside, said, ”That piece, while not unique, is extremely rare. Its value will only rise, so why rush to decide!”

Beisitian glanced at him; indeed, this person’s mind was very astute. With such a precious piece, she obviously shouldn’t sell it hastily. Such large-scale works, she might not intentionally create again, so naturally, it should fetch a good price!

She wasn’t in urgent need of money now. Until the next Double-sided Three-different Embroidery appeared, this piece would remain the most valuable, and its worth would keep rising. She would patiently wait and reap a substantial sum.
