I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Child Bride

”Little Tian’er, today you...” Mrs. Qin looked at Beisitian suspiciously.

Day in and day out, no one knew Beisitian’s temperament better than she did. Usually, she was too scared to say a word, and now she can speak so fluently?

Not just fluent, she actually has quite a presence!

Mrs. Qin hadn’t read many books, and even the word ’presence’ she learned from the mouth of the kids’ father, because it referred to her eldest son, so she remembered it.

Beisitian knew Mrs. Qin wasn’t easy to fool, but she still planned to use this matter as a paddle.

”Mother, it’s my fault. If I had listened to you earlier and spoken out, you wouldn’t have suffered so much grievance today. I never thought they would bully people like this...” Beisitian had to put on a look of being distressed.

Isn’t that bullying!

They even brought people to block the door. Today, if Beisitian apologized to Zhang Lianqiao in front of everyone, she would have lost face completely and would be laughed at wherever she went in the village, having no face to stay!

Mrs. Qin, upon hearing this, her doubts disappeared. Luckily, it wasn’t a complete mess; as long as she knew to resist, it was fine!

”Little Tian’er has come to her senses! Good thing! Great thing!” Luo Anguo laughed leaning against the haystack.

About today’s matter, not only did Beisitian feel distressed, but even Luo Anguo felt distressed; people bullied them to the doorstep, relying on Mrs. Qin, a blind old woman, to hold them off, having to threaten with death, while he, an old man, was a useless one, laying in bed peering through the window. If it weren’t for Little Tian’er’s changes turning the situation around, he wouldn’t have gotten over this in a while.

”Dad, don’t say that. If it weren’t for Mother always teaching me, I wouldn’t have been able to say those words just now.” Beisitian quickly said.

Here, she called her mother ’Mother,’ but referred to her father as ’Dad.’ Beisitian had to adapt for a while, as she always wanted to call him ’Dad.’

”Accumulation and release! Accumulation and release! It seems this blind old woman’s constant nagging does have its benefits, hahaha.”

Luo Anguo said this only to comfort Mrs. Qin. Mrs. Qin’s bit of learned knowledge couldn’t affect anyone’s accumulation and release, but it seems Little Tian’er inherited from her father.

Mrs. Qin also laughed upon hearing this, the gloom between her brows largely dissipated. Seeing this, Luo Anguo became even happier. It’s been so many years since the news of their eldest son’s death came, and Mrs. Qin hadn’t smiled since.

At this time, Luo Anping came back herding sheep with a whip, entering the door to find Mrs. Qin smiling, he was dumbfounded.

”You brat, what are you looking at? Did you tie the sheep properly? If one runs away, I’ll skin you!” Mrs. Qin glared at her youngest son irritably and scolded.

”Tied properly...” Luo Anping turned to look at Beisitian, surprised, ”Sister, why are you sitting up? Didn’t Uncle Yang say you should lie down?”

”It’s fine, sitting for a bit loosens up the body.” Beisitian smiled. Once her foot healed, she’d have to get up and walk a few steps every day, which was conducive to recovery.

”Just lie down for a while. Everyone knows your foundation, better to obediently listen to Yang Wulang.” Mrs. Qin gave Beisitian a glance, got up, and picked up Luo Anguo to walk outside.

”Mother, I’ll guide you.” Luo Anping quickly stepped forward and took Mrs. Qin’s corner to lead her outside.

Mrs. Qin did not refuse. Without him, could she still go astray? Lived in the house for years, doesn’t know where the threshold is.

Once Luo Anping took Mrs. Qin to that room, he dashed back, took out the herbs from his basket, and placed them on the kang, then lay at the edge and grinned upward, ”Sister, the stuff you wanted.”

Beisitian looked at the Huiluo Grass in her hand with delight. With this herb, the redness and swelling on her ankle could quickly disappear, and then she could walk around.

”Ping’an, thank you.”

Luo Anping was taken aback, stood up, scratched his head, ”What do you mean ’thank you’?”

Beisitian’s thoughts were on the Huiluo Grass, casually explained, ”When someone helps you, you say thank you.”

Luo Anping pouted, ”Sister, am I someone else?”

Beisitian was taken aback, turned to look, and finally understood Luo Anping’s meaning, couldn’t help but find it amusing. This kid is quite sensitive, ”Sister misspoke, family shouldn’t say thank you.”

Only then did Luo Anping smile, shouted, ”Sister, whatever else you need, I’ll pick it for you when I graze tomorrow!”

Beisitian pondered slightly, then asked, ”Do you have any ink... any pens?”

It seemed changing her speaking habits wasn’t a matter of a short period.

Luo Anping first shook his head, then his eyes lit up, jumped off the kang, turned, and ran towards the east room, shouting without looking back, ”Wait a bit, Sister, I’ll find it for you!”

Luo Anping started rummaging through the big red cabinet in that room, provoking a round of shouting from Mrs. Qin.

Not long after, Luo Anping ran back, followed by Mrs. Qin’s curses, ”Don’t just listen to her, what does she know, pulling a handful of pigweed saying it can cure disease, don’t follow her blindly!”

Luo Anping ignored it, placed the yellow pencil and a small blue knife as long as a pinky finger on the kang.

”Sister, according to my mother, this was used by my eldest brother when he went to school, although the knife is rusted, it can still be used, I’ll sharpen it for you in a while!” Luo Anping said, picked it up again, and began to sharpen the pencil like presenting a treasure.

”Sister, you don’t know, my brother used to love to play, collected a bunch of these small knives, strung them up with string and hung them on his belt. One time he lost them when relieving himself, made him heartbroken, wandered outside for several days but couldn’t find them!”

”You speak as if you saw it with your own eyes.” Beisitian laughed.

Neither she nor Luo Anping had ever seen Luo Xudong. Luo Xudong was her deceased husband.

”You brat, what nonsense are you chattering?” came Mrs. Qin’s shout from the kitchen, ”Come help me with the work, each of you acting like living ancestors!”

Luo Anping chuckled, scratched his head, put down the already sharpened pencil, and ran out.

Beisitian stared at his skinny back absentmindedly. It seems Mrs. Qin didn’t like people bringing up Luo Xudong in front of her, but why?

Beisitian shook her head and began drawing on the red grid letter paper, sketching the few herbs she urgently needed. After more than a month of communication, she had found all the herbs she needed, with similar effects, only with some differences in names.

Beisitian put the Huiluo Grass into the medicine mortar and began grinding it herself. This was the original owner’s dowry, secretly saved up by the original owner outside, planning to use it when she married Luo Xudong, but ended up waiting for him to never return.

Besides this, the original owner brought only a set of patched clothes to the Luo Family, just like a little beggar.

Back then, the original owner was twelve years old, sold to the Luo Family as a child bride.
