Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1544: Chapter 900: Notice

”Get up!” Great Grandpa looked at Nanny Lu with a cold expression, which made Nanny Lu even more fearful, her body softened, and she slumped to the ground, ”Great Grandpa, I was wrong, I know I was wrong, it was my momentary lapse of judgment that made me say some inappropriate things in front of Young Master Xuan...”

”Enough!” Great Grandpa used his cane to hit the ground forcefully, ”You’ve been by my side for decades, don’t you know my temperament?”

”Great Grandpa...” Nanny Lu quickly wiped her tears away, using the sofa for support to stand up, her body slightly bent forward, ”Great Grandpa, I explained to you yesterday. It’s just... I was too worried about becoming a burden to my son, that’s why...that’s why...”

Great Grandpa waved his hand to interrupt her: ”Enough, I understand even if you don’t say it. We are all parents; how can we not worry about our children?

However, you need to know that caring for your children should be within your means. We are staying at the Wen Mansion, and it’s essential to understand our position, do you understand?

Certainly, none of the Wen Family members treat us as outsiders, but we also shouldn’t take liberties. Nanny Lu, you’re of a certain age, and some principles should be understood without my saying. Right?”

”Yes, yes, Great Grandpa, you’re right.” Nanny Lu nodded repeatedly, ”I was being stupid, I promise I’ll never be stupid again.”

Great Grandpa’s mouth curved upwards: ”I doubt that’s very likely.”

”Great Grandpa...”

”What I mean is, as people age, they tend to become more muddled...” Great Grandpa sighed, ”Forget it, this matter can’t entirely be blamed on you. Over the years, you’ve been by my side, and the days you’ve spent with your family are few; you definitely feel you owe them, right?”

Nanny Lu nodded and then shook her head: ”Great Grandpa, I don’t owe them. If it weren’t for working at the Ye Family, Jiacheng wouldn’t have had the opportunity to go abroad and study, let alone bring the whole family abroad to live.

His unemployment is not anyone’s fault, and as his mother, I don’t owe him anything. I just want to do my best to help when I can, Great Grandpa, that’s genuinely what I think.”

”Hmm.” Great Grandpa looked Nanny Lu up and down, then asked, ”Is Xiying pressuring you?”

”Last night when she called, her mother asked if they could visit the Wen Mansion. When I said no, her mother sighed, saying Xiying isn’t welcomed by her in-laws and wanted to take this opportunity to invite her father-in-law to Sha City for a visit. She didn’t say much else.

Last night I hardly slept, and this morning, when I saw Young Master Xuan, I thought since his relationship with the young mistress is so good, if he could help me pass a message, it would be great.” Nanny Lu honestly shared her thoughts.

Great Grandpa sighed lightly: ”Nanny Lu, it’s not very difficult to help you fulfill your wish, but have you considered that once someone’s appetite is whetted, it could become insatiable.

If you really invite Xiying’s future in-laws to the Wen Mansion, and they ask you to help them connect with the Wen Family for collaboration, what will you do?”

”This...” Nanny Lu was stunned and momentarily didn’t know how to answer.

Great Grandpa sighed again: ”I’ve met Xiying before. Although she went abroad to study at a young age, she’s inherently a traditional child. Of course, I hope she has a happy life.

But you need to understand, marriage can’t be entirely based on material equality. If Xiying’s in-laws want to use marriage to strengthen their family business, then even if we help Xiying this time and let her shine, what about the future? Can you help her maintain face for a lifetime?

Girls are usually more persistent in matters of emotions, and over time, Xiying’s feelings for the boy will deepen. If some issue arises in the future, the most hurt will still be Xiying. Have you considered all this?”

Ye Xuan couldn’t help but give a thumbs up: ”Great Grandpa, you’re simply a love expert.”

Great Grandpa scoffed disdainfully: ”Living to such an old age, if I haven’t figured out this much, wouldn’t it be a waste of life?”

”Great Grandpa, I know what to do now.” Nanny Lu finally saw the light, ”When I pick them up, I will clearly explain everything to them.”

Great Grandpa waved at Nanny Lu: ”Alright, go on and take care of your work.”

After Nanny Lu’s silhouette disappeared, Ye Xuan looked at Great Grandpa: ”Great Grandpa, actually letting them visit the Wen Mansion isn’t a big deal. Grandpa really wouldn’t mind.”

”Of course I know they wouldn’t mind, but I mind. Xiao Xuan, do you really think Great Grandpa’s face is so thick that living in the Wen Mansion as if everything should be taken for granted?

Great Grandpa has been staying here, just wanting to help you keep an eye on your wife. Others may not mind, but we shouldn’t be oblivious to it.”
