Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1535: Chapter 894: Old Master Wen (2)

The two sides exchanged pleasantries and took their seats. Old Master Wen glanced around and questioned, ”Isn’t Ye’er supposed to be here too? Why haven’t I seen her?”

”She’s gone to see off a friend,” Mr. Wen replied politely.

”Oh, it’s been such a long time since we last met, I really miss that kid. She’s truly smart; among all the girls I’ve seen, she’s definitely one of the smartest.

Second brother, you’re luckier than me. Your sons, grandsons, and granddaughters are all so smart and capable. Ah, comparing oneself to others really can be infuriating.

By the way, second brother, am I coming here all of a sudden making you unhappy? I saw both you and your wife seemed a bit down.”

Old Master Wen really had a knack for talking; ever since he entered, his mouth hadn’t stopped moving. The key is, after he finished speaking, he wouldn’t wait for anyone to reply and would dive into the next topic on his own.

It seemed he was saying these things just for the sake of talking, whether others heard him or not, cared or not, replied or not, seemed to have nothing to do with him.

”Brother, that’s not the case. By the way, didn’t you say sister-in-law would come along too? Why haven’t I seen her?” Mr. Wen finally found an opportunity to insert his sentence.

”Her...,” Old Master Wen waved his hand, ”Her health is unreliable, she was supposed to come together, but at the airport, she got diarrhea.

No choice but to have someone take her back. I brought Xiao Xue over and also picked up Xiao Yu to come to second brother’s house. Second brother, it’s been so many years, I really miss you.

In the past, I was the one at fault. In the family, always wanted to see who was better, looking back now, it was really immature of me.

We’re both Wen; what sense does it make to compete for superiority? Whether I win or you lose, what does it prove?

Other than letting outsiders laugh at us, it seems useless. If elder brother realized this earlier, the power of our alliance would be indomitable.

Alas, it’s a pity. I realized too late, but thinking about it closely, maybe not too late after all. We are old, but don’t we have the next generation?

As long as they do well and unite, we can still rejuvenate the Wen family. I hope one day our Wen family can truly be the leader among the major families....”

Listening to him babble on nonstop, Elder Ye raised his brows, realizing that all these words were leading to this sentence.

To be blunt, he’s hoping Mr. Wen will return some things to him, so he could have some leverage to join the major family conflicts.

Really don’t understand, this man is over seventy, having gone through so much, yet not only hasn’t he gained wisdom, he seems even more naive.

”Brother, all these grand plans you speak of, I really haven’t thought much about them, nor do I plan to. Society isn’t what it used to be.

Children can develop as they wish, I won’t stop them, nor interfere, as for becoming the leader among families, I don’t have such intentions.

With the national power at play, whichever family gets too big isn’t necessarily a good thing. Brother, I trust you understand this, right?”

Mr. Wen outright made his point clear, not letting Old Master Wen remain confused.

”Second brother, you are right,” Old Master Wen smiled, then looked at Grand Old Master Ye, ”Uncle Ye, I’ve heard of your great reputation for a long time, never thought I’d finally see you in person today.”

”Disappointed?” Grandpa Wen chuckled, stroking his beard, ”I’m just two arms and two legs, nothing different from anyone else.”

”Not disappointed, you look younger than me. Alas, it seems the feng shui here with second brother is good. Second brother, I’d like to stay here for a while to recuperate my health. You won’t drive me away, will you?”

”Brother, how long do you plan to recuperate?” Mr. Wen really couldn’t bluntly tell him to leave, so he opted for a middle-ground approach.

”How long to recuperate?” Old Master Wen pondered, ”This, second brother, I should ask you, how long do you think it’d be good for me to stay and recuperate here?”

Well, the ball is back in play again.

Mr. Wen squinted his eyes, ”Brother, I think you should know, Uncle Ye’s good health isn’t because he’s been recuperating in our house.

So, brother, don’t be misled. I don’t intend to beat around the bush with you. If brother wants to stay a few days, you’re welcome.

If brother has other intentions, don’t blame me for turning hostile when I find out. You should be aware of my personality, brother.

I don’t say some things lightly, but once I do say them, they are meant to be done. Brother, you understand?”

The tone wasn’t polite at all, regardless of the fact that Old Master Wen’s position is evident. Given the respect second brother used to show him, he was a bit upset, but recalling his intention of seeking help, he swallowed his anger several times until he managed a smile: ”Look at what second brother said, of course, brother understands second brother’s personality, valuing emotion and righteousness.

However, second brother seems to have quite a deep misunderstanding of brother. Haven’t I already said? It was due to confusion in the past that led to those actions, now, certainly not.

I’m here to see second brother, hope to recuperate a bit, and also want Xiao Yu and Xiao Xue to get familiar with their siblings.

In the future, when our generation is gone, they shouldn’t lose contact. It’s not good if the cousins don’t know each other, is it?” (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to visit Qidian () to vote for recommendation tickets and monthly tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
