Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1531: Chapter 892: Nanny Lu vs Great Grandpa

”Nanny Lu, has something happened recently?” During the meal, Great Grandpa suddenly asked, catching Nanny Lu off guard, and she quickly shook her head, ”Great Grandpa, nothing’s wrong.”

”You’ve been with me long enough; do you think I don’t know your temperament?” Great Grandpa put down his chopsticks and looked straight at her. ”Speak up, there are no outsiders here.”

”Great Grandpa...” Tears welled up in Nanny Lu’s eyes, ”My... my son’s family has returned from Canada, and I...”

”Why didn’t you mention it earlier?” Great Grandpa said, glancing at Luo Ye, ”Ye’er, help Nanny Lu book a plane ticket back to Beijing, as soon as possible.”

”No need, no need.” Nanny Lu waved her hands repeatedly, ”They’ve arranged to come to Sha City tomorrow to see me, I... I just couldn’t figure out how to bring it up.”

”What’s so hard to say? Do you think I’m such an old-fashioned person?” Great Grandpa gave her a glance, ”The kids can hardly come back once a year. Do you think I’d stop your family from having a reunion?”

”No, no...” Nanny Lu sneaked a glance at Luo Ye and didn’t continue.

Luo Ye smiled at Great Grandpa without saying a word. She understood exactly what Nanny Lu’s glance meant—Wen Mansion never hosted outsiders, and Nanny Lu wanted to seek her opinion.

Nanny Lu was one of Great Grandpa’s, and since Great Grandpa had been staying at Wen Mansion for so long, he naturally had the say in who could come over, so it wasn’t her place to interfere.

”What do you think?” Great Grandpa asked Nanny Lu in return.

”They’ve booked Qilin Hotel to stay in.” Nanny Lu looked at Great Grandpa earnestly, ”I want to take two days off either tomorrow or the day after.”

Great Grandpa pondered and said, ”How about this, starting from tomorrow, you take a vacation, show them around Sha City, then head back to Beijing with them for the New Year. Once they leave, you can return to work.”

”No need for that long, Great Grandpa, I promise I won’t let family matters interfere with work again. Please don’t be mad at me.” Nanny Lu was a bit anxious.

Great Grandpa couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly, ”Nanny Lu, you’ve been by my side for so many years, yet it seems like you understand me less and less? Ah, I really don’t know what to say to you.”

”Great Grandpa, Jiacheng lost his job, I...” Nanny Lu murmured awkwardly, not knowing how to continue.

”I see, you’re thinking of avoiding requesting leave so you can help support Jiacheng’s family?” Nanny Lu’s son’s name was Lu Jiacheng.

”It’s not exactly to support the family, but as long as I can contribute a little, it counts as my effort. Xiying is getting married next year, and Jiacheng has quite a burden on his shoulders.” Nanny Lu said while secretly observing Great Grandpa’s expression.

”Ye’er, what do you think Nanny Lu should do in this situation?” Great Grandpa suddenly threw the question to Luo Ye.

”Great Grandpa...” Luo Ye sighed helplessly, ”Aren’t you being too hard on people? As a younger generation, it’s not my place to comment on such matters.

Well, if no ticket is needed, I’ll head back to the main hall first. Brother Qi and sister-in-law might feel out of place without a familiar face there.” As soon as she finished speaking, she swiftly dashed out, ”Great Grandpa, I’m going too.” Wen Ke quickly got up and ran after her.

”These kids.” Great Grandpa shook his head with amusement, looking at Nanny Lu, ”Alright, you handle this matter yourself.”

”Great Grandpa...”

”I mean, decide for yourself how many days you want to take off.” Great Grandpa frowned, ”Nanny Lu, aside from Jiacheng coming back, is there anything else?”

”They... they want to come over to see Wen Mansion.” Nanny Lu lowered her head, feeling the request was quite excessive, which is why she hesitated to bring it up.

Having lived at Wen Mansion for so long, she noticed that Luo Ye held a lot of influence within the Wen Family, which is why she looked at Luo Ye earlier, hoping for her support. However, the outcome was disappointing, leading to her carelessness and a series of small mishaps thereafter.

”Did you agree to it?” Great Grandpa’s gaze turned stern.

”No, no.” Nanny Lu quickly waved her hands, ”Great Grandpa, I know my limits. It’s just that since they brought it up, I thought if I could fulfill their wishes, I should try to. Over these years, they’ve been coming back less and less.” As she spoke, she became slightly downcast.

”Nanny Lu...” Great Grandpa sighed, ”This isn’t Ye Residence.”

”Great Grandpa, I’m sorry.” Nanny Lu looked ashamed, ”I wasn’t considering thoroughly. Please punish me, as long as you don’t make me leave, I’ll accept any punishment.”

”Nanny Lu, Great Grandpa doesn’t mean that.” Ye Xuan coughed slightly and interjected, ”Great Grandpa wants you to be a bit more honest.”
