Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 248: ”Jiaolong” Deep Sea Exploration and Rescue SubmersibleChapter 248: ”Jiaolong” Deep Sea Exploration and Rescue Submersible
When the senior executives of the 704 Shipyard present heard the news, their hearts sank suddenly, as if a huge rock had suddenly hit their hearts.

The Yan Country Navy purchased such a small number of such deep-sea exploration and rescue submersibles.

This means that the 704 Shipyard is likely to be unable to recover even the huge initial design and research and development costs.

What is even more troublesome is that this type of deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible is almost blank in both the domestic and international markets, and there are no other buyers to share the costs and risks.

Thinking of this, Lin Chenran could no longer sit still. He immediately stood up, put on a pitiful look, and said to Mr. Zhang who was sitting opposite him: ”Mr. Zhang, although our 704 Shipyard is very willing to serve the country and take on the important task of designing and developing this deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible, the purchase quantity is really too small!”

”Our 704 Shipyard directly invested a large sum of money in it.”

”You also know that our factory has just started to pick up.”

As soon as he finished speaking, other senior executives of the 704 Shipyard present nodded in agreement, expressing their full agreement with Lin Chenran’s opinion.

Faced with everyone’s complaints and grievances, the leaders of the Yan Kingdom Navy suddenly became a little at a loss.

At this time, Mr. Zhang frowned slightly and sighed softly.

After thinking silently for a while, he finally made up his mind and said firmly: ”Okay! The cost will be paid by our navy!”

What Lin Chenran said was indeed correct. Deep-sea exploration and rescue submersibles have almost no market share.

Even if the design and development is completed, it is likely that it will not be sold.

Pan Xueming, who was standing by, looked anxious, staring at Mr. Huang in front of him, and asked, ”Mr. Huang, when can we conduct the extreme deep-diving test of our navy’s nuclear submarines?”

This requires an approximate time to be given to the 704 Shipyard.

They have to deliver the deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible to the Yan State Navy within the specified time.

Huang Lao fell into a brief period of thought again. After a few seconds, he suddenly raised his head, a hint of determination flashed in his eyes, and he answered decisively: ”According to the current plan, if nothing unexpected happens, our nuclear submarine will have to start extreme deep diving tests in the second half of next year.”

”Once the test is a complete success, the nuclear submarine will be quickly deployed to the entire maritime waters of our country to undertake important national defense tasks.”

Then, as if he remembered something, Mr. Huang added: ”If your 704 Shipyard can speed up and efficiently build a deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible, the extreme deep diving test will be advanced.”

Today’s international situation is changing rapidly and is complex, and it does not allow the Yan Navy to have any procrastination or delay.

”That means we will design, develop and manufacture a deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible within a year and a half and deliver it to your navy.”

Lin Chenran said calmly.

The senior leader of the Yan State Navy nodded.

Then, Lin Chenran turned around and looked at Pan Xueming next to him, and the two looked at each other.

”No problem. Our 704 Shipyard will ensure that the task is completed.”

Lin Chenran patted his chest and answered in the affirmative.

Mr. Huang then put forward his various requirements for this deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible.

The senior executives of the 704 Shipyard all wrote down the requirements raised by Mr. Huang.

……

Watching the convoy of the senior leaders of the Yan Kingdom Navy going farther and farther away and finally disappearing at the end of the horizon, Lin Chenran turned around and hurriedly walked into the conference room with a group of senior executives from the 704 Shipyard with a solemn face. The theme of their meeting was to discuss how to manufacture a deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible that met the requirements of the navy.

After entering the meeting room, Lin Chenran coughed lightly, breaking the brief silence in the room.

He glanced at everyone present, and then slowly said, ”The Navy has given our 704 Shipyard a mission - to build a deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible with excellent performance, reliability and practicality.”

”Next, I hope you can speak freely and express your opinions. Regarding the specific requirements put forward by Mr. Huang for this submersible, please speak your true thoughts without reservation.”

As soon as Lin Chenran finished speaking, a slight discussion was heard in the conference room.

After a moment, a senior executive spoke first: ”I think the most critical point about a deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible is that it must have a strong enough pressure resistance to withstand the daunting huge water pressure in the deep sea.”

”After all, the deep-sea environment is extremely harsh, and the pressure is beyond imagination. If the submersible cannot withstand such water pressure, then nothing can be done.”

Another participant added: “Yes, in addition to the ability to withstand pressure, the internal volume ratio is also a crucial factor.”

”Because we need to consider how many soldiers trapped in the sinking submarine can be rescued at one time.”

”Once a submarine sinks to the bottom of the sea due to various unpredictable reasons, the amount of oxygen that can be provided by its internal oxygen supply equipment is very limited, and harmful gases will continue to accumulate over time.”

”We need to race against time to launch rescue operations and save as many soldiers in danger as possible.”

Hearing this, Lin Chenran nodded slightly in agreement and signaled others to continue expressing their opinions.

As a result, more voices began to be heard in the conference room. Some focused on the power system of the submersible, some emphasized the reliability of communication equipment, and others put forward higher requirements for navigation and positioning technology...

The entire conference room was immersed in a heated and intense discussion atmosphere.

……

Lin Chenran signaled to the assistant beside him to write down everyone’s useful suggestions.

Later, they will be handed over to the chief designer of the Jiaolong deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible.

The design and development of the Jiaolong deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible is not very difficult.

Lin Chenran and Pan Xueming both intend to let the young top ship engineers in the 704 Shipyard lead the team to design and develop, and to hold an internal deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible competition within the factory.

Let the young engineers in the factory form their own design and development teams to design the ”Jiaolong” deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible.

Of course, this competition has time limits and personnel limits.

The best design for a deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible could become the last.

After the announcement, a group of young engineers from the 704 Shipyard were eager to try. They all wanted to show their skills, gain recognition from the top management, and pave the way for their future.

Who doesn’t want a bright future?

Who doesn’t want to be appreciated by their superiors?

This deep-sea exploration and rescue submersible design competition is the best opportunity.
