Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1122: Azathoth’s Condition

Nathan was a bit skeptical, but it didn’t look like it was a lie. Even Roggoth had accepted his fate back then.

”I’m aware of the content of the prophecy. No matter who we send, they will definitely die in this second wave. It won’t be hard to see that it’s the result of the chosen one on that continent, which is you.

”However, the fact that you’re not hostile to me right now shows that the cause of death is not because of conflict. For whatever reason, his sacrifice has brought you to me.”

”...” Nathan finally understood why Roggoth had asked him to come to Cthulhu and listened to his full story instead of judging him right away. Nathan then turned to the others.

Evelyn understood this gaze and nodded back, showing her approval.

”I understand. Let’s not talk about the past. Rather than souring our relationship, I will listen to you first. However, I have told Roggoth that I will only make my judgment after hearing it from you. Whether it’s favorable to your race or not...”

”Don’t worry. If I wanted to do something to you, I would have done so 500 years ago.”

”Fair enough.” Nathan thought for a moment before asking, ”Still, you said there are four other chosen ones? Does that mean I have to wait for them to arrive here? Or maybe meet them so that we can get to know each other? If they’re the chosen ones, I will let them be the real ones.”

Cthulhu shook his head. ”Unfortunately, it is not possible anymore. You might not know this, but Roggoth is not the only one who is supposed to die in the second wave.

”There is one more that is supposed to die. Meanwhile, the other one will have its contractor die. As a result, there are only two chosen ones in this era. I don’t think I have to tell you the reason.”

”The volcanic eruption.” It was an obvious answer. One of the aliens must have been close to the supervolcano. As a result, that alien died along with the chosen one. The second alien was on another continent. Although the alien suffered, it didn’t receive the full impact of the volcanic eruption.

However, the ash or the increasing number of aliens had caused the chosen one to die.

As a result, there were only Nathan and one more person who were the candidates for this second wave.

”And it looks like you are fated to meet this person.” Cthulhu extended his hand. ”Give me your hand.”

”Hmmm?” Nathan hesitated. Fortunately, Cthulhu assured him, ”I don’t mean any harm. I want to give you my sigil. It will allow you to faintly feel the presence of the guide on the continent. If you are able to meet him, you should ask about the chosen one he has picked. He will definitely guide you to that person.

”As for what happens next, I will let you humans choose what you want to do. All I request is for the two of you to meet.”

”Hmm? Do you even know where we’re planning to go?”

”Isn’t it Erendtall? Or at least that’s the name of the continent of the first true chosen one.”

”!!!” Nathan was surprised. If he could meet that person and turn that person into an ally, it would be a good way to figure out the continent as well.

Those terrorists used Garam Haygaiden as their guide. So, having that person as their guide on their revenge would make the journey easier.

Nathan carefully weighed his options before nodding his head. ”I can promise you that much, but I want to know the conditions of your world first.”

Cthulhu stayed silent for a few minutes. ”There’s not much to say. My kin has been enslaved by the singularity. Half of our gods have been captured to do their bidding.”

”Half of the Outer Gods? I know Yog-Sothoth has been compromised due to him being the one who opened the portal to this world 500 years ago. How about Azathoth and Nyarlathotep? Ah, wait. That was inconsiderate of me.” Nathan waved his hand.

The rest were confused, but Nathan knew Azathoth and Yog-Sothoth were Cthulhu’s relatives. Or that was what he currently knew. As for what kind of relationship the alien’s relatives had, he didn’t know.

”It doesn’t matter. Right now, the one leading the war is Nyarlathotep. The other two have been captured by the singularity.”

”...” Nathan was stupefied. ”Doesn’t that mean we’re already doomed?”

”Doomed?” Evelyn frowned. ”What do you mean?”

”I mean... fighting Azathoth is impossible...” Nathan scratched the back of his head. ”Fenrir said Azathoth is the peak of existence. The rumor claims that ’even the slightest glimpse’ of it would result in the ’utter and complete destruction of the beholder.’

”How are we supposed to fight such a being?” Nathan sighed. ”And if we combine him with the monster called Singularity...”

Nathan couldn’t continue that sentence. It was hopeless.

”No, it’s not completely hopeless. That one has an idea. However, he didn’t tell me the exact details of his plan.”

”Idea? Nyarlathotep?” Nathan raised his head, recalling Nyarlathotep’s information. ’Nyarlathotep is known as Azathoth’s messenger, but he seems to have a condescending and disrespectful attitude toward his mindless lord. If it’s Nyarlathotep, he might know how to do it since I believe he once struck him in the head in contempt if my memory doesn’t fail me.

’But because he hasn’t defeated it, that means there’s one more thing he needs. And that is the chosen one.’

Nathan grasped what had happened in the alien world. It looked like Nyarlathotep would still continue fighting for a few more hundred years. However, he was curious about one thing.

In his dreams, he was supposed to die in this world, not in the alien world. In that case, this one was hopeless.

’It’s said that everything comes from Azathoth. The reason he didn’t explain the plan to Cthulhu must be to avoid Azathoth knowing about it, which means the singularity will know it as well.’

It looked like the situation wasn’t as hopeless as he originally thought.
