Mythical Professions are all my employees

Chapter 168 The Privileges of Epic Classes, Cai Chen's Power, Strikes Again!Chapter 168 The Privileges of Epic Classes, Cai Chen’s Power, Strikes Again!

Less than half an hour.

The area downstairs in the residential complex was already packed with people from the Combat Division.

Everyone looked solemn as they stared ahead.

Many ordinary residents of this community were isolated outside, staring in bewilderment at the car surrounded by layers of people.

”Cai Chen, what exactly is going on?”

Beside the car, a middle-aged man with thick eyebrows and big eyes asked in a deep voice.

It was Jiang Yong, one of the deputy directors of the Jin Dong Professional Combat Division.

Beside him was a young man, dressed in a judge’s robe, who was another deputy director, Liu Qi.

Luo Qingzhu stood behind the two deputy directors, her face slightly pale, looking at Cai Chen in the car with some concern in her eyes.

Several other captains were also gathered around.

Cai Chen, who was in the car, didn’t say anything. He was holding a cell phone and playing a recording.

”What deal?”

”Help me get rid of someone...”

”Who?”

”Cai Chen”.

”...”

The conversation on the phone was between two people.

One of the voices was unfamiliar.

But the other one, they were both very familiar with.

It was Zhu Dong.

The people around who heard this recording changed their expressions and showed astonishment.

The recording finished playing quickly.

Cai Chen’s somewhat hoarse voice rang out: ”That’s the reason.”

He looked at his many colleagues outside the car, his eyes still bloodshot.

Jiang Yong, Liu Qi, and the others were at a loss for words and looked at each other in bewilderment.

The captain surnamed Liu suddenly sneered, ”This audio clip, which I don’t know where it came from, doesn’t prove anything, does it?”

Cai Chen turned to look at him, and the bloodshot in his eyes startled the captain surnamed Liu, but he quickly looked up at him with a cold and stern expression.

”You don’t think you have the right to kill me, the director of the Combat Department, based on this recording of unknown origin and authenticity, do you? Besides, as a Tier 1 professional, even an Epic professional, you couldn’t possibly kill the director. You have an accomplice. Who is your mysterious accomplice?... We must find out.”

He said his last sentence while looking at the two deputy directors.

Jiang Yong and Liu Qi looked at each other, deep in thought, but remained silent for the time being.

Cai Chen glanced at the captain surnamed Liu before calmly saying, ”Investigate however you like. I admit I killed Zhu Dong. As for who my accomplices were, I don’t want to say. Zhu Dong colluded with the Shenlin Sect. I believe that as long as we investigate his life and his belongings, we can find some clues.”

”You’re trying to conceal the mysterious man’s identity? Then I have to suspect that he might be from the Divine Descent Cult... I think you’re the one colluding with the Divine Descent Cult, aren’t you? You’re colluding with the Divine Descent Cult to deliberately persecute my Director of the Combat Department!”

The captain surnamed Liu sneered.

”It’s your prerogative to have doubts.”

Cai Chen didn’t look at him again, but simply said calmly.

Cai Chen’s calm attitude made a sharp glint flash in his eyes, and then he said coldly, ”Cai Chen, since you admit to killing Director Zhu Dong, then until the matter is thoroughly investigated... I’m afraid we’ll have to ask you to spend some time in the detention room.”

”I reject.”

Cai Chen said calmly.

”You refuse?” The captain surnamed Liu practically laughed in anger. ”You think this is a discussion with you? What gives you the right to refuse?”

”Just because I’m an epic class, and one of the deputy directors of the Combat Division.”

Cai Chen looked at him indifferently: ”Epic professionals are exempt from criminal punishment, which is written in the laws of Great Xia. You suspect that I have ties with the Divine Descent Cult, fine, produce the evidence.”

”Your mysterious helper!”

”That’s not a reason. You need to provide evidence that my henchmen are followers of God’s Descent.”

”You deliberately concealed his identity; that’s the biggest evidence!”

”Epic professions have the highest right to privacy, which is also written into the laws of the Great Xia Dynasty. It is my business to conceal it, and it is your business to prove it. I have no obligation to prove it myself.”

”you!”

Captain Liu’s expression changed drastically, as if he wanted to say something more.

Cai Chen looked at him indifferently: ”You’re just a captain. So many high-ranking officials here haven’t said anything, yet you keep jumping out. Are you Zhu Dong’s accomplice?”

”What, what did you say?!” Captain Liu could hardly believe his ears. He never expected that Cai Chen would dare to turn the tables on him.
”I’m in a bad mood right now, and I’m already being lenient by talking to you this much. Don’t push your luck. I know you resent me for getting the opportunity before you, but now that I’ve got it, it’s mine. It’s not smart of you to keep provoking me, and the opportunity won’t fall into your lap. Since you know I have a mysterious helper, and I can kill Zhu Dong, do you think I can’t kill you?”

Captain Liu’s expression changed drastically, and his voice trembled: ”You, you’re threatening me?!”

”Just saying.”

After speaking indifferently, Cai Chen ignored Captain Liu and turned to the others whose expressions had also changed with their conversation. He said calmly, ”I killed Zhu Dong. He colluded with the Divine Descent Cult and deserved to die. The evidence is here. You can continue your investigation and see if it’s true or false. But I am an Epic-level professional and have the highest right to privacy. Investigate whatever you want to investigate. Come back and talk to me when you find irrefutable evidence. Do you understand?”

For a moment, everyone was speechless, their expressions shifting as they looked at Cai Chen.

In a world where professionals reign supreme, epic professions, being professions below the legendary level, do indeed enjoy numerous privileges.

Among these, the right to immunity from criminal detention and the supreme right to privacy are two very important points.

In other words, to convict someone of an epic-level class, irrefutable evidence is required. Unless criminal charges are definitively established, the authorities have no right to arrest an epic-level player.

The supreme right to privacy means that the secrets of an epic class are above the limits of general criminal law. When an epic class does not wish to reveal a secret about itself, it has the right to conceal it.

In fact, ordinary people also have similar rights... such as ’you have the right not to answer, but what you say can be used against you in court’.

It’s just that epic classes have higher privileges.

If the authorities want to investigate, then they need to do it themselves. Epic classes can completely refuse to cooperate and not answer any questions.

This privilege exists because epic classes are extremely rare.

Every epic class is an extremely important fighting force for humanity.

These two privileges are designed to prevent epic professions from being ostracized and persecuted by humans.

...After all, the vast majority of those in power are not of epic class.

As epic classes grow stronger, they will inevitably pose a powerful impact and threat to those in power.

These two ’privileges’ were created precisely to prevent such persecution.

To be honest, there are advantages and disadvantages.

The advantage is that innocent epic-level players will not be easily persecuted.

The downside is that... even if an epic class commits a crime, it’s very difficult to bring them to justice.

However, considering the broader context of an alien invasion... even if they committed crimes, they are still human. With a large-scale alien invasion always a possibility, epic classes remain a crucial fighting force for humanity.

fair?

In a context where the very survival of an ethnic group is at stake, talking about fairness is itself the greatest injustice.

The time Lin Fan was caught by Xu Jin was actually an exception.

Firstly, although Xu Jin used his position in the United Front Work Department as a pretext, he was actually using his status as a member of the ”National Pillar Family” to pressure people, which was not a standard law enforcement procedure. Therefore, Shen Changyuan had been trying his best throughout the process... but Xu Jin used his power to oppress people, and Shen Changyuan had no way to stop him.

Secondly... Lin Fan’s epic profession has a mysterious origin, and fearing exposure to Paradise, they dare not argue about it.

But Cai Chen is different. His epic class already has a ’legitimate origin’.

More importantly, he himself... was at the deputy director level of the Combat Department—this is also very important.

Here, there’s no ”Guozhu family” using their power to intimidate people; instead, normal law enforcement procedures are followed...

In this situation, his ’epic privileges’ and ’deputy bureau authority’ are amplified to an extreme degree.

This also instantly left the many officials of the Jin Dong Professional Warfare Division, who had never had such experience, with no other options.

The Epic class’s ’non-criminal detention immunity’ and ’supreme privacy rights’ allow Cai Chen to be exempt from normal law enforcement procedures.

His ’Deputy Director-General authority in the Combat Department’ gave him a legitimate reason to kill Zhu Dong.

After all, he produced evidence of Zhu Dong’s collusion with the Shenlin Cult... although it was just a recording.

However, as long as it cannot be proven that the recording is fake, then Cai Chen, as the deputy director of the Combat Division, is simply enforcing the law by making a last-minute decision to kill someone associated with the Divine Emptiness Cult.

...Even if he didn’t have real power, he was still a legitimate deputy director of the Combat Department.

Combating the Divine Advent Cult has always been one of the main responsibilities of the Combat Division.

As deputy director.

He has the authority to make wartime decisions.

Because of his epic profession, he doesn’t even need to write law enforcement reports.

With his dual identities as an Epic Class and Deputy Director of the Combat Division, Cai Chen had no reason to hide the fact that Zhu Dong’s death was related to him.

The combat command had no way to deal with him.

As deputy directors, Jiang Yong and Liu Qi were clearly aware of this problem, so they had not been in a hurry to express their opinions.

Cai Chen’s assertiveness made them realize that dealing with this matter would likely be very troublesome...

After a long silence, Liu Qi, who hadn’t spoken until now, suddenly asked in a low voice, ”Did they... succeed?”

Cai Chen’s face froze instantly. After a long while, he said in a hoarse voice, ”Almost. My family was killed by them.”

These words instantly moved everyone present.

Those who knew where Cai Chen lived couldn’t help but look up in the direction of his house.

”Now, upstairs...”

Liu Qi gasped and asked in a low voice.

“I’ve already disposed of the body myself, but the traces at the scene are still there. You can go up and take a look.”

Cai Chen remained silent for a long time before calmly speaking.

Liu Qi and the others’ expressions changed. Liu Qi turned around and whispered to one of the captains.

After whispering a few words in his ear, the captain nodded, found a member of the combat division, and went upstairs.

Cai Chen sat in the car, ignoring their actions.

Shortly afterward, the chief commander came down, looking very solemn. He quickly went to Liu Qi’s side and whispered something to him.

Liu Qi’s expression kept changing.

Jiang Yong turned to look at him, and he nodded slightly.

After hesitating for a moment, Liu Qi whispered to Cai Chen, ”Please accept my condolences.”

Cai Chen didn’t react. After a long while, he calmly said, ”You can investigate this matter however you want. As the person involved, I won’t participate. Qingzhu.”

Luo Qingzhu, who had been silent until now, trembled immediately when her name was called and said, ”Yes!”

”Is Villa Number Nine ready? Take me there.”

Cai Chen said calmly.

”Ah, yes!”

Luo Qingzhu quickly went over.

Cai Chen got out of the car and went to the back seat. Luo Qingzhu got into the driver’s seat, and then she realized what was happening and said to Jiang Yong and Liu Qi somewhat nervously, ”Director Jiang, Director Liu... shall we go now?”

After a moment of silence, Jiang Yong and Liu Qi nodded slightly.

Luo Qingzhu let out a soft breath before starting the vehicle.

The vehicle drove away under the watchful eyes of the officers and crew.

……

Luo Qingzhu was driving, but she would occasionally glance at Cai Chen in the rearview mirror. Cai Chen had his eyes closed, his face cold and silent.

Luo Qingzhu wanted to say something, but didn’t know what to say.

He could only drive silently and nervously.

As the director’s chief secretary, her biggest backer was Zhu Dong.

But Zhu Dong died.

And the murderer was in the seat behind her.

She suddenly became anxious about her future.

...She was just an ordinary professional, and she knew very well what her greatest asset was that allowed her to reach her current ’high position’.

but……

Will this approach be effective against this newly promoted deputy director, who has such a tough style of doing things?
she does not know……

Lost in thought, Luo Qingzhu drove towards the Pinghu Villa.

Cai Chen kept his eyes closed, ignoring Luo Qingzhu’s wild thoughts.

He is having a mental conversation with someone.

”I am an epic class, and also the deputy director of the Combat Division... Without evidence, they can’t do anything to me.”

”...Well, as long as you’re confident in yourself, that’s fine.”

The boss’s gentle voice echoed in my mind.

After a brief silence, Cai Chen asked, ”Do they really dare to come?”

”I don’t know, but it’s very likely... Most of the people from the Combat Division have gone to your house, and there might be their spies among them. There’s only you and one girl in the car now, and if I were from the Divine Advent Cult... I wouldn’t miss this opportunity.”

Qin Fang’s voice was calm.

Cai Chen was silent for a moment, then said, ”Capture the leader... and hand him over to me.”

”……Um.”

……

On a tall building ahead, a woman in a purple robe and wearing a compassionate mask calmly gazed into the distance.

”Sir, here we are.”

The woman looked down at the traffic.

”Are you coming to find me? I’ve come first.”

She thought to herself.

”Take action.”

She spoke calmly.

The next instant, several figures beside her disappeared from the high-rise building.
