The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 547 - 287: Face the Gale!_3
”It does seem like it, huh? Tonight’s magic performance was, compared to the usual flames and thunder and such, somewhat lacking in visual spectacle,” Su Xiaoou blinked, feeling the same way.

Jiang Shu shrugged and said, ”It’s not just you, there are certainly other audiences who think the same. But you should be clear that tonight’s magic isn’t any less difficult than before. In terms of performance difficulty, it might even be higher. Those previous big scenes were just man-made spectacles.”

”Right.” Su Xiaoou replied, then she shifted the conversation, ”What about the other one? What’s a semi-public prediction?”

”A semi-public prediction, for instance, is placing an envelope on the table before the performance starts. After the performance is over, taking out a piece of paper from the envelope, which reveals the choice made by the audience during the show,” Jiang Shu explained with a simple, common example, ”And the moment tonight where you took off your coat to reveal clothing with ’JS’ was a semi-public prediction. This prediction existed before the performance began but was only revealed after it ended, achieving the best magic effect.”

”I understand now. So it’s just like I thought. If Li Yuntang hadn’t chosen the letters ’JS,’ I could just have not removed my coat. It’s not a fixed sequence, but it can be the highlight,” Su Xiaoou figured out the cleverness behind it.

”That’s right, a semi-public prediction is like that. It gives us a buffer, and even if it fails, it’s not a big deal,” Jiang Shu said with a smile, his tone shifting, ”However, you should also be aware that it’s best for these predictions not to be purely text-based. It could be quite embarrassing if the audience discovers it midway. Therefore, it needs various forms of packaging.”

Jiang Shu demonstrated with examples on an imaginary blackboard, he could come up with various kinds of examples effortlessly: ”Like a phrase torn in half and incorporated into the magic act, then retrieved and put together at the end to form a prediction; such as using backgrounds or illustrations to disguise the text, writing predictions in tiny fonts in the magic poster’s background which combine to form illustrations, most of the audience wouldn’t notice it; or simply using a picture to represent the content of the prediction... There are many methods, and your idea with the clothing is a similar tactic.”

”It turns out I’ve already gone beyond what was required,” Su Xiaoou answered seriously, then counter-questioned, ”Can I get extra points for exceeding the requirements?”

”Not really,” Jiang Shu chuckled and then got into the car to take Su Xiaoou towards the apprentice dormitory near Black Currant Theater.

After dropping Su Xiaoou off at her home, Jiang Shu drove back to his own place, but he did not go straight home. Instead, he wandered around Lonely City.

First, he casually stopped by area E to buy a specialty mini-cake from a branded store, and then he went to the supermarket to buy ingredients for cooking the next day, a well-balanced mix of meat and greens.

If it were up to Sister, eating sweets in the middle of the night wouldn’t be an issue. With the way she eats, if she could get fat, she would have by now.

Jiang Shu was actually more concerned that she wasn’t eating enough and was losing weight because he had heard that women tend to lose weight first in their chests.

For the sake of the future little Jiang Shus, hardships endured shouldn’t result in hardships for the children, right?

He settled back into the car, his gaze drifting towards the direction of area A.

Someone was waiting for him at home, giving Jiang Shu something to look forward to on his way back. Right now, he felt like turning into a gust of wind heading towards home.

Ah, a swift wind.

The only thing was, Sister’s behavior tonight was kind of strange. He wasn’t sure if she was giving him the cold shoulder or waiting in a bunny girl costume for a chance revelation.

Ah, a swift wind.
