The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 533 - 283: The Unfathomable Liu Tingruo
”When did it appear?” Jiang Shu repeated the question Li Yuntang had subconsciously posed as he took two balls from her hand and casually responded, ”Probably at the moment they appeared.”

Li Yuntang: ”...”

”Do magicians always love to talk nonsense?” she couldn’t help but complain.

”Perhaps,” Jiang Shu replied cheerily, and then he picked up the three balls and turned towards Su Xiaoou.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, he turned back to look at Li Yuntang and the salt shaker in front of her.

”Hmm?” After so many trials, Li Yuntang clearly understood the meaning of Jiang Shu’s gaze, so she picked up the salt shaker once again.

”Thank you.” Jiang Shu then retrieved a coin from beneath the salt shaker and smiled as he pocketed it.

”Alright, now Su Xiaoou, please extend your hand.” Jiang Shu continued speaking to Su Xiaoou.

”Alright.” Su Xiaoou reached out her hand, palm up, just like Li Yuntang had done.

”Good, now I’ll place two balls in your hand,” Jiang Shu said as he placed two balls, one large and one small, into the palm of her hand, cupped her hand into a fist, and then held the last small ball in his own right hand, also forming a fist.

He brought his right fist in front of Su Xiaoou and said, ”Blow on it.”

”Hoo—” Su Xiaoou did as instructed, and when she opened her hand in response to Jiang Shu’s direction, three sponge balls of varying sizes rolled out of her hand.

The expression on her face was similarly befuddled; she had thought her being a complete novice in magic compared to Li Yuntang would make a difference, but when the same trick was performed on her, she couldn’t discern any obvious technique either.

The issue was clearly with Jiang Shu’s hands, but what exactly was happening, she had no clue.

Just knowing these things, could she pass a test?

Clearly, she could not.

”Miss Li, did you notice any changes on the table?” Then, Jiang Shu put the three sponge balls successively into his empty wallet and asked Li Yuntang.

Li Yuntang almost immediately thought of the salt shaker, so she immediately looked in that direction and then suddenly froze.

Beneath the shaker was a coin, but if it were just a simple coin, she wouldn’t be so surprised.

Beneath the salt shaker was a large coin, its diameter even larger than the shaker itself.

This was...

When did it appear beneath the salt shaker?

If the appearance of a regular coin could be explained by Jiang Shu’s sleight of hand, such a large coin...

She didn’t notice it at all?

Her attention had been entirely engrossed by Jiang Shu and Su Xiaoou, she had no idea when this oversized coin had been moved beneath the salt shaker.

Was it...

a special mechanism?

At this moment, the audience also noticed this oversized coin, and they all showed surprised expressions.

The comments were similar.

”Holy shit, the camera panned and there was the coin, what’s going on?”

”Tangtang was sitting so close and didn’t notice it?”

”When did they tamper?”

”It’s a spell! I just saw Jiang Shu secretly mutter a spell!”

And Jiang Shu also picked up the large coin, tucked it into his pocket, ”Thank you, thank you Li Yuntang and Su Xiaoou for your cooperation, today’s little moneymaking trick ends here, I think some of you clever folks might have already got it.”

”How high do you mean by ’clever’?” Li Yuntang also said this on the side, her tone tinged with frustration.

Experiencing such magic up close, she felt increasingly that this magic was truly unpredictable and unfathomable.

”About as high as two or three stories,” Jiang Shu casually replied, he gathered the items from the table, then continued to speak to the audience, ”Before the magic show I mentioned that this program is ’Magic Up Close’, so next, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about magic, the next segment is random questions.”

This announcement stirred the crowd; Jiang Shu had never incorporated such a segment before.

The usual format had always been Jiang Shu performing while audiences watched; this undeniably created a barrier between Jiang Shu as a person and the audience groups, and these audiences couldn’t even find Jiang Shu off the stage.

That was also one of the reasons Jiang Shu’s fan club was more nominal than real—they simply couldn’t reach him.

But now, it seemed there was a chance to learn more about Jiang Shu and his magic?

”Of course, not everyone can ask questions, as this magic event has limited time, and I can’t answer all your questions.” The audience’s enthusiasm surprised Jiang Shu; he had never really cared about his fans before.

For Jiang Shu, he preferred to showcase his talent and make money, rather than rely on any fan culture.

Although, if a magician’s fan base could be well-managed, it could not only attract significant wealth but also lead to real mythologization.

After that, he wouldn’t need to worry about his magic not selling; even if it wasn’t good, it wouldn’t matter, just standing there would garner lots of applause and screams.
