The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 518 - 278: Pure Acrostic Poem
Jiang Shu quickly walked into the alley, then slowed his pace, his gaze swiftly searching for Liu Tingruo’s figure in the alley.

For Liu Tingruo, no matter her appearance or stature, he was extremely familiar with her. Thus, even though he had only caught a fleeting glimpse earlier, he was able to accurately recognize her.

The alley wasn’t spacious, barely allowing five or six people to pass through at once. At the end of the alley, there was a bright white street lamp, its radiance illuminating the entire alley without leaving any blind spots.

But Liu Tingruo was nowhere to be seen.

”Hmm?” Jiang Shu’s gaze swept through the entire alley and eventually stopped at the end, where there was a corner.

It seemed that Liu Tingruo could only have hidden behind that corner.

However, Jiang Shu didn’t just walk over there simply; he reassembled the ”Spirit Technique” term onto himself and then activated his Foreknowledge ability.

In the future he foresaw, Liu Tingruo was standing behind that corner, calmly making a spreadsheet while waiting for his arrival.

It was indeed Liu Tingruo.

Thereafter, Jiang Shu slowly approached, poking his head around the corner.

Behind him, Kirie’s figure appeared at the entrance of the alley.

What was Jiang Shu doing?

She looked on with some confusion as Jiang Shu’s figure disappeared around the corner of the alley. His departure had seemed very rushed, which gave her a rather strange feeling.

She felt a bit like following to see.

But in the end, she dismissed the thought and faithfully walked back onto her main path.

After that night at the Black Currant Theater, she had changed a lot, primarily restraining her own curiosity, which was a basic rule of survival.

”Ruo-jie?” Jiang Shu looked at Liu Tingruo, who had an aura cold as frost, and tentatively called out.

”Hmm.” Liu Tingruo responded lightly, a sort of acknowledgment, yet not quite an acknowledgment, as she continued to be busy with her spreadsheet, as if it was something more important than Jiang.

Without thinking, Jiang Shu knew it was because Liu Tingruo had seen him and Kirie walking on the deserted street late at night. Although the atmosphere was awkward with little conversation and no affectionate gestures, such matters...

Were still somewhat risky.

”I thought my appearance would be a pleasant surprise for you, but now it seems to be just a fright,” Liu Tingruo said, still working on her spreadsheet while slyly jabbing at Jiang Shu.

”No, it really is a surprise,” Jiang Shu breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Ruo-jie was willing to talk to him, it was fine. The worst fear in these situations was Liu Tingruo remaining silent.

”Are you sure? It seems I interrupted you guys.” Liu Tingruo glanced at him.

”I was merely seeing her home, and it’s already late. As a responsible man, I feel I cannot simply stand by.” Jiang Shu said and then smiled at Liu Tingruo, ”I think, a man without responsibility does not deserve to stand by Ruo-jie’s side, right?”

”Of course,” Liu Tingruo replied, then snorted, ”So, how have you been during this time?”

”Me?” Jiang Shu’s eyes shifted briefly, ”I’ve been very lonely.”

”Lonely? Really?” Liu Tingruo lightly laughed back, but this time her tone wasn’t mocking, simply listing the people around Jiang, ”At home, there’s a beautiful woman and a hitman-type guy, the police station has a young female scientist and a competent Police Chief, and the theater even has a loli apprentice...”

”It’s exactly because of this that I feel lonely,” Jiang sighed, his voice suddenly becoming melancholy. He waved his hand in the air, and two flaming characters ”Lonely” appeared before Liu Tingruo, ”Look at the characters for ’lonely’, parsed out. There is child, fruit, little dog, and mosquito. They could populate a small alley at sunset in midsummer, brimming with human warmth.”

He paused before continuing, ”The child holds a melon under the willow shade, the little dog chases butterflies deep in the alley. The world abounds in laughter and speech, only I am left with wind beside my temples. Children, fruits, cats, dogs, and flies indeed create a hubbub, but without you, this is what is called loneliness.”

Having spoken, Jiang Shu tenderly stared at Liu Tingruo until she turned her face away first.

This series of seemingly melancholic but deeply affectionate words caught Liu Tingruo off guard; no one had ever spoken such words to her. Even though her rational mind was much stronger, she could still sense the poetic and picturesque sentiments in his words.

Women’s words—even for a woman like her—are hard to resist against such expressions.

”But it’s neither midsummer nor is there a sunset now,” Liu Tingruo responded after a long pause.

”So you are by my side, and now I am not lonely,” Jiang Shu smiled again, then gently embraced Liu Tingruo from the front.

Liu Tingruo didn’t avoid nor push him away, just let his arms wrap around her waist, allowing one body to press against another.

In a soft voice by Liu Tingruo’s ear he asked, ”You busy person, what suddenly made you think to come to the Seventh District to find me?”

”Who said I came to find you? I came to check on a house I bought.” Liu Tingruo’s ears felt Jiang Shu’s breath, and her entire body softened, her resistance fading as she let herself melt.
