Chapter 509: Chapter 274: One Cloud Piercing Arrow, Thousands of Troops Gallop to Meet!Taigong Street.

The morning sunlight splashed upon the street, casting everything in a golden hue, a rare fine weather in winter, the warm sunshine also brought a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere to the entire street.

After a leisurely stroll for more than ten minutes, Uncle Jes finally arrived at the front of his fruit store from home.

Although it was only a seven- or eight-hundred-meter journey, life in the EF district was just like this, unlike the tense, fast pace of the AB district. Here, the pace of life was slow, always with a hint of laziness.

”These little punks, messing around again,” Uncle Jes muttered to himself as he looked at the ”Eye of Taigong” graffiti on the front shutter door.

He did not remove it, however, because one would realize that every shop on the street had the same pattern. Even if he cleaned it off, it would quickly be drawn again.

He didn’t have much ill-will towards this so-called ”Taigong Dynasty” either since they had replaced the Mechanical Disciples, the neighborhood security had visibly improved.

It wasn’t because of the police’s crackdown on black and evil forces, nor the local security’s constant patrols. It was merely because the people of ”Taigong” had taken over.

At first glance, this might seem unacceptable but when considering that there was still prevalent poor security despite the police station and the local security department, it was much easier to understand.

According to rumors among the neighbors, although the people of Taigong Dynasty still ran those highly profitable nightclubs and the like, they no longer actively engaged in illegal activities. Even narcotic drugs had become one of their targets.

In just over a month, the drug abusers who used to wander around the neighborhood had disappeared without a trace.

On one hand, many of them had been taken by the Taigong Dynasty’s people to drug rehabilitation centers; on the other hand, there was nowhere in the nearby neighborhoods where one could buy drugs, not even individual peddlers remained, so naturally, these people would not stay here any longer.

All in all, this was actually a good thing.

Uncle Jes thought satisfactorily.

At least for someone honest living a quiet life like him, it was definitely good.

He opened his watch, glanced at the time—it was already after ten o’clock, and he had just come to open his fruit store’s door.

But he couldn’t blame his laziness; after all, the whole street was like this. People on the street always liked to go out and play late, and they were just waking up around this time—even if he opened the door early, he wouldn’t have much business.

Even now, only three or four out of ten shops on the whole street were open. He even counted as one of the early ones.

Uncle Jes passed his hand over the electronic scanner at the store’s entrance, and with a ”beep,” the electronic lock’s red light switched to green.

Then, he lifted the shutter door, stepped into the shop, and prepared to start a new day of business.

”There! Catch him!”

”Stop him at the front, that guy is no good!”

Suddenly, the appearance of a group of people broke the tranquility of the morning street. They ran past frantically, shouting as they ran, their voices filled with rage.

And Uncle Jes, at the sound of the footsteps and shouts, instinctively bent down and hid behind the cash register—a conditional reflex he had developed from many years of living in the EF district.

Then, he reached under the cash register and pulled out a shotgun, quickly loaded the ammunition, and stretched the barrel out from the cash register, followed by his watchful eyes.

But he saw nothing, as the group had not come for him and had passed by his store in the blink of an eye.

Who were those people?

Doubt arose in Uncle Jes’s mind, as he hadn’t seen such a scene ever since the Taigong Dynasty entered the nearby neighborhoods.

So, he reached into the cash register and took out a handgun, buckled it along with its holster onto his belt, then held the shotgun as he slowly walked out of his own shop to peek outside.

”Got you now!”

Several youths with various colored hair pinned down a panic-stricken man.

”No, listen to me explain...” The man on the ground seemed to know his fate and hurriedly tried to explain to the youths.

But no one listened to him.

The lead pursuer roughly pulled open his clothes and forcefully tore them apart.

Inside the lining of that garment were stuffed with small bags containing white powder, and besides, there were vials and little bottles the size of liquid medicine, and colorful pills.

”Hmph,” the leader snorted. He opened one of the bags and smelled it faintly, his expression turning ugly, kicked the man on the ground furiously, ”Isn’t this ’drugs’? Daring to sell drugs on our Taigong Street, you’re really asking for it! Take him away!”

He waved his hand, turned, and led his subordinates into an alley, with several of his men escorting the ashen-faced drug peddler, who quickly left the main area of Taigong Street.

Taigong Street returned to its tranquility, and Uncle Jes stared blankly in the direction the group had left.

He recognized the leader, a minor boss in the Taigong Dynasty named Rodney. He had a rather good impression of that guy; although he was unruly, when buying fruit, he always paid up front.
