Struggling to Survive with Regression Power in the Primordial Saint Sect

Chapter 544: 【The Old Undying of the Sacred Sect Is Too Vile!】

After hearing Yu Zhouʼs response, Lu Yang fell into deep thought.

He was pondering a question: Since True Lord Qingcheng Feixue could emerge from that disordered history, could others do the same?

In the end, did the people within that chaotic history know their own condition?

‘Alternate-dimension Hong Yun.’

‘Did he truly fail in seeking 【Heavenly Fire】 and reincarnate, or did he forge a different path and, like True Lord Qingcheng Feixue, smuggled himself into this present world?’

‘No, thatʼs not right. That disordered history is very likely the place where the World-Honored One attained the Dao. How could the World-Honored One allow frequent escapes? The Zouyu descendant might be excused—that was the work of the Sacred Sect’s Founding Ancestor—but what about True Lord Qingcheng Feixue? How did she escape?’

Even the Sacred Sect’s Founding Ancestor couldn’t be fishing people out of that disordered history too frequently.

After all, just one Zouyu descendant was enough to use as leverage against the World-Honored One. Bringing out more people would only further agitate the already sensitive nerves of the World-Honored One.

It wasn’t worth the risk.

At this point, Lu Yang suddenly looked toward Yu Zhou again, only to see that the elder’s expression was taut—clearly he knew more, but simply dared not say it aloud.

Was he trying to hint at some important secret?

Lu Yang pondered silently, and then glanced again at the 【Radiant Tome of the Celestial Sovereign】 in his hands. Its author sighed that, among all Supreme Fruit Positions, only 【Great Forest Wood】 could be attained.

So what?

In the present world, that had long been public knowledge—【Soaring Sky】 attained 【Great Forest Wood】, becoming the first True Lord in history to attain a Supreme Fruit Position——

“!。！”

The next second, Lu Yang’s expression suddenly changed, his gaze sharp as a blade as he stared at the elder before him—【Soaring Sky】. Could it be just like the Zouyu descendant? If that alternate-dimension Hong Yun had truly smuggled into the present world, could it be… he had become the now-enlightened 【Soaring Sky】?

‘No, no. That’s the wrong direction.’

Lu Yang’s thoughts spun wildly as he recovered from his shock: ‘The timing doesn’t match. 【Soaring Sky】 is an old True Lord of the Sacred Sect—he’s existed for tens of thousands of years.’

And beyond that, there was more conclusive evidence.

‘If 【Soaring Sky】 was really that alternate-dimension Hong Yun, there’s no way he wouldn’t know about the existence of the Seven-Star Heavens. So why would he leave that potential threat outside the heavens?’

Besides, the transition from 【Overturning Lamp Flame】 to 【Heavenly Fire】 was still somewhat traceable—they were both fire-element Fruit Positions. But for 【Overturning Lamp Flame】 to turn into 【Great Forest Wood】—that was sheer fantasy. No matter how one thought about it, it just didn’t add up.

Yet one thing remained true: 【Soaring Sky】 did know of the existence of the disordered history.

‘Which means he had at least come into contact with people or matters from that side.’

At this point, Lu Yang couldn’t help but sigh. As a veteran True Lord of the Sacred Sect, 【Soaring Sky】 was truly a treasure trove, holding far too many secrets.

At the same time, Lu Yang now had his own understanding of this so-called “disordered history.”

‘No need to overcomplicate it—it’s ultimately a product divorced from the present world.’

‘Frankly, the so-called disordered history is just another form of the Secret Realm of Law Refinement… the only difference being that this one was created by the World-Honored One.’

Thinking this far, Lu Yang also gained insight into how to deal with the issue of the Zouyu clan, and he understood what Yu Zhou had been hinting at, both overtly and subtly:

‘He’s hinting that if the Zouyu descendant could come out, then naturally… they could also go back!’

‘Moreover, since the essence of that disordered history is similar to a Secret Realm of Law Refinement… then the Secret Realm of Law Refinement should have similar effects.’

With this in mind, Lu Yang now had at least two ways to deal with the issue of the Zouyu descendants.

‘Either find the entrance within the Sacred Sect that leads to that disordered history, and send them back… or simply send them into a Secret Realm of Law Refinement.’

Both methods followed the same principle: if the problem couldn’t be solved, then solve the person.

After all, he had no intention of ruling over that disordered history. Besides, if Yu Zhou wasn’t lying, that place might even have a True Lord stationed within—so sending the Zouyu clan away remained the more feasible plan.

But soon, Lu Yang furrowed his brow again:

‘However… the Zouyu descendants were likely fished out by the Sacred Sect’s Founding Ancestor. If I send them back, wouldn’t that be a slap in the face to the Founding Ancestor?’

In that case, there was only one answer left:

【Secret Realm of Law Refinement】!

Lu Yang sorted out his thoughts, but his expression remained grave: ‘That’s right. If they’re within the Secret Realm of Law Refinement, they should be able to avoid the disruptions caused by the disordered history.’

The Innate Daoist Mu Changsheng was the prime example.

With that in mind, Lu Yang immediately turned to Yu Zhou and said, “Many thanks, Daoist Friend, for enlightening me. But looking at things this way… your clan may not need me to make this trip after all.”

From Yu Zhou’s behavior toward him, it was clear the elder knew Lu Yang stood in his way—and as the leader of the Zouyu clan, he was clearly someone who knew how to read the times. Logically speaking, if simply hiding in the Secret Realm of Law Refinement could resolve their problem, the Zouyu clan could have handled it themselves. Why wait until now?

Unless—Lu Yang’s heart sank slightly:

“The Secret Realm of Law Refinement… ran into a problem?”

Upon hearing this, a trace of bitterness instantly crossed Yu Zhou’s face. He nodded and said, “Your Excellency sees clearly… the Secret Realm of Law Refinement has already been shut down.”

Lu Yang froze at those words. “Shut down?”

This caught him off guard. His mouth opened slightly, and based on his understanding of the Sacred Sect’s usual behavior, a suspicion instantly surfaced in his mind:

‘The Founding Ancestor descended?’

‘Sealing the Secret Realm of Law Refinement—wasn’t that just an indirect way of telling me to send the Zouyu descendants back to that disordered history? The Founding Ancestor no longer needs leverage against the World-Honored One?’

If given the choice, Lu Yang had no desire to interact with that disordered history. His grudge with the World-Honored One already ran deep—he was practically dancing on the edge of the World-Honored One’s bottom line. If he went further and got pulled into the World-Honored One’s schemes… there’d be no turning back.

But as fate would have it, he had no choice.

‘The Secret Realm of Law Refinement is closed. I can’t forcibly open it. This is coercion! Forcing me to become enemies with the World-Honored One! Forcing me to delve into that disordered history!’

【The Old Undying of the Sacred Sect Is Too Vile!】

Once he understood everything, Lu Yang’s expression immediately darkened. He looked back at Yu Zhou again, only to see the elder looking apprehensive, and in that moment, he understood the role this man was playing:

【The white glove of the Sacred Sect’s old undying.】

‘From the moment the Secret Realm of Law Refinement was closed, he’d already guessed the Founding Ancestor’s intent. The rest was just following orders. Truly the style of that old undying.’

Unlike the World-Honored One who often mingled with the lower cultivators, the Sacred Sect’s old undying only made moves in critical moments.

Back when Mu Changsheng schemed for ages, all the old undying of the Sacred Sect did was one thing—lock him in the Secret Realm of Law Refinement—and it completely ruined his plans.

This time was no different.

The old undying of the Sacred Sect didn’t do anything else—he merely shut down the Secret Realm of Law Refinement, and things would naturally progress in the direction he desired.

But the question was: what did the old undying of the Sacred Sect want?

Surely not to eliminate the World-Honored One?

In that moment, Lu Yang’s thoughts spun like mad. Countless clues tangled together, branching into endless possibilities, leaving him unable to extract the truth.

‘This… this is what it feels like for lower cultivators trying to grasp the intent of those above—truly, Heaven’s will is unfathomable!’

After a long while, Lu Yang finally let out a heavy breath and turned to Yu Zhou: “Tell me… where did you first enter the Sacred Sect from?”

He hadn’t figured it out, but he had accepted it.

At this point, he truly had no choice. No matter what the Founding Ancestor of the Sacred Sect was planning—as long as he still wanted to attain 【Heavenly Fire】—he had to comply.

“Reporting to Your Excellency,”

The old man immediately bowed deeply, trembling with fear as he said, “We do not know the exact location. Back then, it happened in the blink of an eye, and we found ourselves at the 【Sky-reaching Sea of Clouds】.”

“However… True Lord Qingcheng Feixue surely knows!”

At this, Yu Zhou suddenly lowered his voice: “With that great one’s personality, important matters must be kept close at hand to feel secure.”

“Why not take a look at her sleeping quarters, my lord?”
