Struggling to Survive with Regression Power in the Primordial Saint Sect

Chapter 523: True Method of Shifting the Proper Positions of Kan and Li

Although the thought of “blowing up the World-Honored One” was extremely tempting, Lu Yang still took a deep breath and suppressed this rather dangerous and bold idea.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t bear to do it, but rather that the timing wasn’t right.

‘I have no understanding whatsoever of the current situation in the Pure Land of Jiangxi. I only know that the World-Honored One has reinforced and empowered the Buddha Child, but I have no idea where the reinforcements were applied.’

Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated in a hundred battles.

If he rashly pretended to hold a Golden Position, and the opponent happened to have a countermeasure ready to stall and delay him—what would happen if they dragged it out past the time limit of his false possession?

‘No rush. Use stillness to respond to all change.’

With that thought, Lu Yang quickly cleared his mind and realized that in the current situation, there was actually no need for him to make the first move. The World-Honored One would come looking for him on his own.

‘The urgent task is still myself.’

To forge iron, one must be strong oneself.

Thinking this, Lu Yang even chuckled and simply stopped paying attention to the golden Buddha in the western sea of clouds. Instead, he stood up and stepped down from the dragon bed.

“This phenomenon is related to you?”

Lu Yang turned his gaze to the corner of the dragon bed and saw Empress Xiao tugging at the edge of the bedding, whispering softly, “The Manifestation in Jiangxi—looks like you really aren’t an incarnation of the World-Honored One.”

“What’s wrong, scared?”

Lu Yang instantly saw the fear in Empress Xiao’s heart and responded with a calm smile, but Empress Xiao’s eyes widened in disbelief as she asked in return:

“You’re not afraid?”

Only then did Lu Yang realize it. To most True Persons, what kind of lofty existence was the World-Honored One? Even if it was fishing bait, he wasn’t someone they could resist.

Fear would be natural.

But Lu Yang, having weathered many storms, had long lost any reverence for the World-Honored One after ten lifetimes—especially now, when he had the Dao Court Dao Lord backing him. From the feedback of the 【Dao Laws of the Immortal Kingdom】, the Dao Lord clearly wanted him to keep his spirits up, not to lose face, and to go and fight the World-Honored One head-on.

Thinking of this, Lu Yang couldn’t help but chuckle. “Honestly, you get used to it after a few times.”

With that, he turned and left Kūnníng Palace, heading to the Tianwu Main Hall. Before long, a streak of escape light descended from the heavens into the hall.

The newcomer carried a sharp aura and a solemn expression—none other than Chong Guang.

As soon as he entered the grand hall, Chong Guang’s eyes fell on Lu Yang. His gaze pierced like firelight, then he asked in a deep voice, “That just now—was it aimed at you?”

“Indeed.”

Lu Yang remained calm. “The karmic tie of the Buddha Child’s Buddhist fate... I suspect it won’t be long before the Buddha Child from Jiangxi personally comes to convert me into the Pure Land.”

Upon hearing this, Chong Guang frowned deeply and lowered his voice: “Fake possession?”

Lu Yang shook his head and looked at Chong Guang with a meaningful gaze: “If I fake it now, I’m afraid you won’t be allowed to remain. You should understand that.”

If he were to pretend possession, there were only two options.

Either he reversed the Chen Soil, pitting it against 【Ang Xiao】, and then, to prevent Chong Guang from achieving the Golden Fruit first and usurping the position, directly slapped him to death. Or he didn’t reverse the Chen Soil and instead severed Chong Guang’s Dao path.

Obviously, either way would lead to them turning against each other.

Chong Guang clearly understood this as well and sighed faintly.

Right after, he reached into his robe and pulled out a jade slip, handing it to Lu Yang. The slip bore the patterns of sun and moon, causing Lu Yang’s brows to raise slightly.

“This is...?”

“This was given to me before I left by a batch of Zouyu descendants, recently recorded by the Saint Sect.” Chong Guang’s expression turned serious. “It contains a true method.”

Lu Yang instantly understood: stolen.

The next moment, surprise flickered in his eyes: “A true method corresponding to 【Heavenly Fire】?”

Chong Guang nodded.

Seeing this, Lu Yang immediately took the jade slip and immersed his mind into it. Before long, he had learned the name of the true method: 【True Method of Shifting the Proper Positions of Kan and Li】

“Kan represents water, Li represents fire. Water and fire merging symbolizes the transformation of yin and yang, and also refers to 【Heavenly Fire】. The so-called ‘Proper Positions of Kan and Li’ means the location of 【Heavenly Fire】. This true method was a marvelous technique specially sought by the Zouyu Royal Clan of the previous Dao Court dynasty, in pursuit of 【Heavenly Fire】.”

Chong Guang briefly explained.

Meanwhile, Lu Yang directly invoked the blessing of the 【Dao Laws of the Immortal Kingdom】, entering a super cultivation state and rapidly absorbing the knowledge of the true method:

‘This true method isn’t for combat.’

Gradually, realization dawned across Lu Yang’s face, even with a touch of awe: “This is a Dao-seeking technique that gambles life for gain!”

‘【Heavenly Fire】 is hard to attain, the ceremonial rites too harsh. Everyone knows this. Yet it is a supreme fruit position—of course it’s desired. In pursuit of this fruit, the ancients exhausted all possibilities, proposing countless solutions. This true method is among the best of them.’

The principle was quite simple:

‘If directly seeking 【Heavenly Fire】 offers no hope due to the ceremonial rites, then take a detour—pursue the Dao via a curved path.’

‘Simply put, start with another fire-element fruit position.’

‘After all, those positions have far less demanding conditions. One could first attain gold through them, then during ascension in the Blessed Land, employ this true method.’

‘At that moment, if one can locate the 【Proper Positions of Kan and Li】—the position of 【Heavenly Fire】—this true method allows forcibly altering the ascension path, shifting from another fire-element fruit directly to 【Heavenly Fire】, thereby bypassing the harsh ceremonial requirements.’

It sounded alluring.

But in reality, it was extremely risky, as cultivating another fire-element fruit while aiming for 【Heavenly Fire】 risked severe rejection.

Even worse, this true method was incredibly difficult at the outset.

Because the 【Proper Positions of Kan and Li】 were exceedingly hard to locate—not fixed, but constantly fluctuating like waves, rising and falling unpredictably.

‘...Just wishful thinking, in the end.’

No wonder cultivators of 【Heavenly Fire】 had gradually gone extinct. Compared to other fruit positions, this one clearly wasn’t made for humans to attain.

The fact that such a method had even been derived showed that countless people must have sacrificed themselves, offering their lives for the Dao. Yet even after so much sacrifice, they gained only a faint hope—unable to further improve it before fading away over the ages.

‘However...’

Lu Yang pondered quietly. With the aid of the 【Dao Laws of the Immortal Kingdom】, his comprehension was greatly enhanced—otherwise, he would have already summoned Ancestor Tingyou by now.

Gradually, an idea formed:

‘Perhaps this true method isn’t suitable for seeking the Golden Position... but if used in pretending to hold one—purely as an attachment—it might yield surprising effects!’

After all, Ancestor Tingyou’s 【Yama Palace】 allowed false Golden Position possession without any limitations! No ceremonial rites required—just matching gold nature, and the corresponding fruit position could be faked. Previously he could only fake 【Overturning Lamp Fire】, but if he added the 【True Method of Shifting the Proper Positions of Kan and Li】 for adjustment—

‘Perhaps... I can fake 【Heavenly Fire】?’

At that thought, Lu Yang’s breath grew heavy. While 【Overturning Lamp Fire】 was decent, compared to 【Heavenly Fire】, it was garbage.

‘If there are no worries holding me back, maybe I should try it—’

The next moment, the current Commander of the Royal Guard Division, Xiao Shan, strode swiftly into the Tianwu Hall. He saluted first, declared his loyalty, then said solemnly:

“Reporting to Your Majesty, urgent news has arrived from the border.”

Lu Yang raised an eyebrow: “What happened?”

“It’s Jiangxi!”

At this point, Xiao Shan seemed to recall something and a look of terror flashed across his face: “According to the intel... a demonic monk has appeared in Jiangxi.”

“He came from afar, saying he is here to 【cultivate Buddhism】.”
