Struggling to Survive with Regression Power in the Primordial Saint Sect

Chapter 522: F*ck! Don’t Chicken Out!

Golden radiance filled the heavens and earth. Auspicious clouds billowed forth, scattering colorful rain that cascaded down like a waterfall, finally coalescing into a magnificent Pure Land, within which sat a majestic Great Buddha.

“Dang!”

A melodious bell chime echoed from the deepest part of the Pure Land, yet only Lu Yang could hear it. Even Empress Xiao, who lay right beside him, remained completely unaware.

In a daze, he seemed to glimpse that Pure Land, where that towering Golden Buddha amidst the sea of clouds was gazing in his direction from across boundless mountains and rivers. That Buddha’s body was composed of countless, infinite Buddhist Cultivators, all now wearing the same expression, performing the same gesture, and chanting in unison:

“Amitabha.”

The sound of the Buddha’s name resounded like a massive hammer slamming into Lu Yang’s head. Yet, he stood unmoving, his expression unchanged.

‘Though the five-thousand-year taboo is poisonous, it is also a true great opportunity.’

Ever since the last Millennium Tribulation five thousand years ago, at least three thousand years had inexplicably vanished from history, seemingly severed by the World-Honored One.

Why would the World-Honored One do such a thing?

Where did those lost three thousand years go?

‘The World-Honored One would never do something thankless. For such a massive undertaking, it must be crucial—perhaps it even concerns the secret of his Nascent Soul!’

If not, why would he react so warily to anyone discovering this forbidden segment?

This implies that although this taboo may not directly expose the World-Honored One’s secrets, it is at least a critical clue that leads toward them.

Such knowledge was poison for those at the Foundation Establishment stage.

But for a Golden Core True Lord, it was undoubtedly a great opportunity. After all, the path to the Nascent Soul was one that countless True Lords sought in vain.

At this thought, Lu Yang considered another question:

‘The taboo I just uncovered—【Ang Xiao】 clearly knew it too. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to trap me with it. But why wasn’t he affected?’

【Ang Xiao】’s true body resided in the Netherworld, unable to interfere in the mortal realm.

A mere divine thought, barely sustained by the 【Perception Obstruction】, shouldnʼt have been strong enough. If Lu Yang himself couldn’t evade it, what made Ang Xiao immune?

What was the difference between them?

And what about the Innate Daoist Mu Changsheng? That five-thousand-year-old taboo—something even Golden Core True Lords were scarcely aware of—how did he know?

In a flash of insight, Lu Yang arrived at an answer:

‘It’s the Secret Realm of Law Refinement!’

‘The key lies in the Secret Realm created by the Saint Sect’s founding ancestor. Anyone within it is likely immune to the influence of forbidden knowledge!’

With that realization, Lu Yang suddenly understood:

‘That’s it! 【Ang Xiao】 didn’t know the taboo from the start. I initially tricked him into seeking out the Innate Daoist Mu Changsheng.ʼ

‘At most, he suspected the Secret Realm of Law Refinement held some hidden opportunity.’

‘But everything changed when he encountered Mu Changsheng.’

‘He obtained more secrets than I did. Mu Changsheng’s presence allowed him to deduce the truth behind the five-thousand-year taboo!’

‘Since he was within the Secret Realm, the World-Honored One couldn’t sense it. But me? I’m in the mortal realm. The moment I grasped the taboo, the World-Honored One sensed it instantly. As for 【Ang Xiao】—unless I’m wrong, that divine sense of his is already as good as dead.’

Now, 【Ang Xiao】 could only remain within the Secret Realm of Law Refinement.

If he left it, the World-Honored One would immediately sense and obliterate his divine thought. At this point, he might as well be Mu Changsheng’s cellmate.

‘This really is...’

At that thought, Lu Yang suddenly let out a laugh. Though it seemed like he had once again been played by 【Ang Xiao】, the perspective shifted with context.

From Ang Xiao’s side, the situation must be utterly hopeless.

After all, he’d tried everything—every trick and technique—and in the end even self-destructed. Yet Lu Yang, like an indestructible cockroach, simply refused to die.

Even now, though this forbidden knowledge gave him a headache, the solution was simple—just sever the related memories.

Ignorance truly is bliss.

This damn place was far too deep. Sometimes, not knowing made it easier to succeed. The more one knew, the faster one tended to die.

At that thought, Lu Yang immediately activated his divine sense.

In the next moment, all knowledge about the forbidden taboo and the five-thousand-year gap disappeared from his mind. A trace of confusion appeared in his eyes.

‘What was I just thinking about?’

‘No... best not to dig too deeply.’

Lu Yang abruptly halted his finger calculation. Though he couldn’t remember what he had forgotten, the lingering sense of blessing and calamity assured him—it had been the right choice.

Looking out, he saw that in the direction of Jiangxi, that grand Pure Land and the Golden Buddha amidst the sea of clouds seemed to subtly shift. The karmic Buddhist connection that had once enveloped Lu Yang dimmed.

Clearly, as long as he didn’t delve deeper into that forbidden knowledge, nothing would happen. However, in the very next instant——

“Boom!”

【Dao Law of the Immortal Nation】 descended. Vast knowledge surged into Lu Yang’s mind, forcibly restoring the memories he had just erased.

In an instant, all was silent.

In the direction of Jiangxi, the once-smiling Golden Buddha froze for a moment. The benevolent smile on its face stiffened.

“What the f**!?”*

Even Lu Yang hadn’t seen this coming. His mouth slightly agape, he instinctively looked toward the 【Dao Law of the Immortal Nation】—only to find it shining brighter than ever.

‘This is... are they really about to clash!?’

Lu Yang lowered his head and strained to suppress his expression, narrowly avoiding laughter. In this situation, for the 【Dao Law of the Immortal Nation】 to activate, there could be only one explanation:

‘The Dao Court’s Dao Lord!’

With that thought, Lu Yang’s expression turned strange—but it also made perfect sense. After all, if things kept going like this, people might start thinking the World-Honored One was the true number one under heaven!

At that moment, ominous black clouds mysteriously gathered over all of Jiangdong, thundering and rolling as if echoing the thoughts of heaven and earth.

Meanwhile, in the direction of Jiangxi, the once-resplendent Pure Land fell into eerie silence. The chants ceased. The Buddha’s radiance froze.

Only the Golden Buddha remained seated, its previously serene and merciful smile now transformed into a wrathful Vajra glare—as if staring down an invisible adversary.

‘The Dao Lord is personally intervening? No... not quite right.’

Lu Yang had personally witnessed the Dao Lord’s descent once before. Back then, the World-Honored One had truly cast his gaze down, and the overwhelming might that made the heavens quake was unforgettable.

This... wasn’t on that level.

‘It doesn’t feel like the Dao Lord’s true body. Rather, it’s as if the Dao Lord’s emotional shift alone stirred up a clash between the two Dao lineages.’

But there was no doubt: in the face of the World-Honored One’s interference, the Dao Court’s Dao Lord had made their stance clear—

Dry him! Don’t chicken out!

Lu Yang immediately straightened his back.

‘I knew it! My cultivation of the 【Heavenly Flame】 is actually a great boon for the Dao Court. The Dao Lord should be quite pleased.’

What’s more, the Dao Court had already been robbed of 【City Wall Earth】 by the World-Honored One. Now he wanted to steal the 【Heavenly Flame】 too? Who could accept that?

At this thought, Lu Yang’s gaze brightened.

He now had a bold idea:

‘Since I have the Dao Lord backing me... and the Buddha Child isn’t even the real World-Honored One... why not go all in? Pretend I’ve attained the Golden Seat and just start a brawl with that fake!?’
