Struggling to Survive with Regression Power in the Primordial Saint Sect

Chapter 509: Lu Yang’s Metal Nature!

Inside the Sea of Consciousness, Lu Yang’s divine sense manifested into a light silhouette, gazing with satisfaction at the golden light swirling around his fingertip, as if admiring a peerless treasure.

‘Ten lifetimes of cultivation, and damn, I’ve finally refined Metal Nature.’

At this moment, Lu Yang’s heart was filled with infinite emotion. Recalling the past, he remembered the first time he had seen Metal Nature—it had been given to him by Uncle Master Chong Guang, and oh, how envious he had been.

Lu Yang stared at this thread of Metal Nature before him. Though it shone faintly, he seemed to see a blazing ocean of light, reflecting myriad scenes of the mortal world—blazing suns in the sky, moonlit nights, lofty mountains, vast rivers, lakes, and seas; soaring birds and wild beasts, blooming flowers, chirping birds, fish, and insects.

All the phenomena of heaven and earth were contained within this single strand of Metal Nature.

If it were thrown into the mortal realm without any concealment and seen by a mere Qi Refining cultivator, they would likely be instantly entranced, living out a dreamlike, illusory life.

The so-called “Dream of Nanke,” the tale of the decaying Ke tree—all stemmed from this.

It was because Metal Nature contained the complete Dao cultivation of a peak Foundation Establishment True Person, including their comprehension of the heavens and earth—though perhaps still immature in the eyes of a True Lord.

Yet to a Qi Refining cultivator, it was indistinguishable from a real heaven and earth.

Lu Yang pulled back his thoughts, and his vision rapidly withdrew from the boundless scenery before him. Time seemed to accelerate—sun and moon fell, mountains and seas collapsed.

“Whew!”

When he came to, all those earlier scenes had vanished from sight. Only a thread of luminous light lingered on his fingertip—radiant and dazzling.

“Pity it’s only a strand. It’s far from enough to support a Blessed Land.” Lu Yang took a deep breath. Refining Metal Nature to elevate a Blessed Land—it was one of the fundamental forces enabling a Blessed Land to ascend. If the Metal Nature refined wasn’t sufficient, it could not sustain the Blessed Land’s flight or align with the Fruit Position. The result would be destruction of body and dissipation of Dao.

This was, in fact, quite difficult.

Because no one knew how much Metal Nature was actually needed to perfectly elevate a Blessed Land into harmony with a Fruit Position. One could only guess based on their own Dao cultivation.

Guess right, and your chances at acquiring Gold soared.

Guess wrong—and all efforts were wasted.

The most absurd part was that too little Metal Nature wouldn’t work, but too much was also disastrous. If the Metal Nature exceeded a certain threshold, it would begin to corrode the cultivator’s soul and divine sense.

‘Well, not “corrode” exactly.’

‘Strictly speaking, Metal Nature is meant to merge with the soul in the end—it’s a natural transformation. But for Foundation Establishment, it’s harmful.’

Only the soul of a True Lord could endure the fusion with Metal Nature and maintain their sense of self through its impact. But the soul of a Foundation Establishment cultivator was ultimately of a lower tier. A small amount of Metal Nature could perhaps be endured through sheer will, but once it exceeded the limit, no matter how strong the will, it would collapse, thereby affecting the soul.

By then, forget about seeking Gold—you’d be driven insane.

History had no shortage of such examples.

Therefore, for a peak Foundation Establishment True Person, each instance of refining Metal Nature was like walking a tightrope—one misstep and doom awaited.

But fortunately—

‘I have a cheat.’

Lu Yang smiled confidently. The reason was simple: in his past life, he had once sought Gold with the body of an Immortal Spirit, so he was intimately familiar with the exact amount of Metal Nature he required!

For others, refining Metal Nature was like walking a tightrope.

For Lu Yang, refining Metal Nature was a simple matter with full data and practical backing—no difficulty whatsoever.

‘Now that I think of it, should I just settle it now?’

Lu Yang rubbed his chin. After a brief thought, he decided to postpone and refrained from using the 【Book of a Hundred Lifetimes】 to settle it.

The reason was simple:

‘Settling it now wouldn’t be worth it! Even if it’s the same golden talent, the result of settling with a True Lord’s Metal Nature is vastly different from settling with a Foundation Establishment’s Metal Nature.’

‘I don’t lack golden talents now anyway. Better to wait until I attain True Lord, then settle—maximize the benefits!’

With that thought, Lu Yang put away the Metal Nature and exited his Sea of Consciousness.

At that moment, a demon cultivator wearing a tense expression strode into the Five Capital Garrison Commanders’ residence. It was none other than Xiao Shan, the elder of the 【One Heart Society】 who had first pledged allegiance to Lu Yang.

Seeing him, Lu Yang raised his brow slightly. “What’s going on?”

“Someone’s causing trouble!”

Xiao Shan said grimly, “A large number of officials seem to have received some kind of order. They’ve all left their residences and are gathering at the Xuanwu Gate, saying they want to meet the Crown Prince!”

“Oh?”

Lu Yang’s mind turned, and he immediately understood the intention of the person behind this. After all, Li Tai’an’s move had always been an open scheme—he never intended to hide it from Lu Yang.

Too bad—it was already too late.

‘Had this happened earlier, this open scheme might’ve truly thrown me into chaos. Back then, I still had to consider the Crown Prince and Empress’s attitudes.’

But now, things were different.

‘With the Capital Garrison in hand, all I need is to seize the Imperial Token from the Empress—and I can immediately take control of Tianwu City. That’s the true key!’

This had always been the reality of power struggles.

All the scheming, all the plots—they were all illusions. In the end, whoever held the military power, whoever had the bigger fist, was the ultimate victor.

Thinking this, Lu Yang immediately looked at Xiao Shan and chuckled lightly. “Convey my order—hold the Xuanwu Gate at all costs. Do not allow the officials to proceed. Block all information—don’t let the Crown Prince or the Empress find out. But make sure not to use force. Outwardly, persuade the officials to act with reason.”

“Understood!”

Xiao Shan saluted at once and quickly departed. Only then did Lu Yang turn and look at the Five Capital Garrison Commander, who was already under control by the 【Puppet on Strings】.

“Send a few officials out.”

Lu Yang said calmly, “Have them blend into the crowd of officials and then initiate an attack on the Royal Guard Division. Deal with them afterward—make sure it’s clean.”

“Yes!”

The Garrison Commander responded without hesitation and walked out of the residence.

Tianwu Palace, outside the Xuanwu Gate.

“Demonic dragon brings disaster, blocks communication inside and out, ignores state affairs, slaughters the loyal!”

“A mere demon dares to act rampantly in Tianwu City. Tell me—does Jiangdong belong to us human cultivators or to their true dragons?”

“Punish the traitor! Kill the demonic dragon!”

These deafening shouts, amplified by spells, boomed into the Tianwu Palace but were blocked by waves of incense divine light, leaving the palace grounds undisturbed.

In front of the Xuanwu Gate, the crowd of Dao Court officials all revealed their ranks. Most were low-ranking officials at the Qi Refining stage—naïve, passionate, and easily misled. Just a few words from several Foundation Establishment officials had stirred them into a frenzy.

In such a highly charged state, violence was inevitable.

Finally, a burst of brilliant light flew from the crowd, injuring a Royal Guard Division cultivator who had been trying to block them—and the already-tense standoff instantly exploded.

With someone taking the lead, everyone’s courage surged exponentially.

This chaos was, of course, seen clearly by Lu Yang, who was still sitting calmly in the residence of the Capital Garrison Commanders. Instead of panic, he sneered:

‘Sleepy and someone brings a pillow.’

‘You want me to unleash a massacre? Very well—I was just wondering what excuse to use for a large-scale purge, and you’ve delivered yourselves.’

In the next moment, Lu Yang’s expression turned stern.

At the same time, the five Garrison Commanders of the Capital Garrison, who had just incited the unrest at Xuanwu Gate, entered. Before they could speak, Lu Yang cut them off:

“I already know everything.”

“The Royal Guard Division was appointed by His Majesty. It’s one of the Dao Court’s elite forces. To show no fear toward the Royal Guard Division’s might—these people are no ordinary officials.”

“They’re obviously all rioters! Rioters!”

Just then, a cultivator of the Royal Guard Division rushed in, holding a scroll filled with dense writing.

“My lord, the confession from the Minister of Military Affairs, Dutian Division, has come out.”

“He remembers now. A significant portion of the officials are spies from the Demon Sect. We’ve cross-referenced—it’s exactly those surrounding the Xuanwu Gate!”

“What?”

At these words, Lu Yang roared in fury: “Send the confession immediately to the Three Dukes’ Residence. Also let the Empress and Crown Prince read it—the situation is now clear.”

“Without a doubt, this is a wicked scheme by the Jiangbei Demon Sect to disrupt the unity and stability of our Dao Court. They assassinated His Majesty and, seeing me and the Royal Guard Division stabilize the court at a crucial moment, stirred this rebellion as a last resort.”

“This is intolerable!”

“We can’t hesitate any longer—we must strike hard!” As he spoke, Lu Yang slammed the table and turned to the waiting Garrison Commander:

“Immediately issue a martial law decree. No official in the city is permitted to leave their residence. Anyone who does so shall be treated as a Demon Sect spy. The Capital Garrison is authorized to execute on the spot!”

At his command, the Garrison Commander instantly raised a hand in salute:

“Loyalty!”

Then Lu Yang smiled again and added: “Of course, the soldiers of the Capital Garrison, in quelling the chaos stirred by Demon Sect spies, have rendered great service.”

“As the leader, I declare that once this matter is over, all soldiers of the Capital Garrison shall receive an extra distribution of salary. No need to choose spiritual materials, cultivation methods, or comprehension items—everyone gets it all! And anyone who performs meritorious service during the investigation of the Demon Sect will receive additional rewards from my own pocket!”

With that, Lu Yang waved his hand grandly:

“Capital Garrison—mobilize!”
