Reborn As a Snake, I Can Absorb Fear

Chapter 123 Target: AmericaJiang Feng had wanted to refuse; as a snake, he was free and unfettered. Following Snake Mother before had just been to see the world of undersea giant beasts. But now that he had seen it, with Lord of the Ocean not appearing, the other giant beasts could hardly accomplish anything major.

However, seeing the expectant look in Snake Mother’s eyes, Jiang Feng nodded and agreed.

”Snake Mother, where are we going?”

”We are going to avenge our other children. The commanders have ordered us to first go and destroy the humans’ USA.” Snake Mother said, her face full of murderous intent.

Destroy the USA?

Jiang Feng was secretly delighted. Wasn’t this exactly what he wanted?

”Good, let’s avenge our kin.” Jiang Feng followed suit, feigning righteous indignation.

Jiang Feng followed Snake Mother and swam toward the direction of the USA. He didn’t know if the direction was correct, but he would just follow along anyway.

Along the way, Jiang Feng learned some secret news from Snake Mother. Many giant beasts were still sleeping deep in the ocean, including even more powerful sea serpent beasts—true Continent Level sea serpent beasts. Snake Mother did not know when they would awaken.

This news made Jiang Feng feel somewhat solemn. He had originally thought that the giant beasts were no longer a threat after suffering such a blow. He hadn’t expected that this loss was actually nothing; those that died were just some Catastrophe Level giant beasts, and many more Continent Level giant beasts were sleeping on the ocean floor. Those were the true threats to the continents. Continent Level giant beasts had already mastered some supernatural powers, and with precautions, it would be difficult for nuclear bombs to kill them.

Meanwhile, in a sea area near the USA, a carrier strike group was sailing toward the direction where the sea beast legion had been attacked.

The entire carrier strike group consisted of a 100,000-ton displacement nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, 380 meters long and 98 meters wide, capable of carrying 98 carrier-based aircraft. There were 4 destroyers, 180 meters long, 24 meters wide, with a displacement of 10,000 tons. There were 8 frigates, 90 meters long, 11 meters wide, with a displacement of 4,000 tons. There were 2 nuclear submarines, 170 meters long, 14 meters wide, with a displacement of 9,000 tons, each carrying one nuclear missile. The commander of the carrier fleet was Major General Marsden.

Several hours ago, several nuclear-armed nations on Blue Planet launched nuclear missile attacks on the ocean giant beast legion. The giant beasts suffered heavy losses, with less than one in ten surviving. High-ranking officials from countries around the world were overjoyed; the threat of sea beasts that had been weighing over their heads had finally been largely removed. They only needed to kill the remaining sea beasts one by one, and the ocean would return to human control. Thus, high-ranking officials from various countries decided to dispatch fleets to surround and annihilate the remaining sea beasts. Marsden had received the mission to annihilate the giant beasts directly assigned by President Trump.

Marsden was not very optimistic about this mission. He recalled what President Trump had said before he departed. ”Marsden, your mission is to prioritize preserving our strength; you can let other countries do the work of annihilating the giant beasts.” Clearly, in order to get other countries on Blue Planet to contribute, the nations that launched the nuclear missiles had deliberately exaggerated the battle achievements, touting the situation as if the giant beasts were already unable to resist. In order to restore maritime trade as quickly as possible and prevent their countries from collapsing, other nations were all willingly dispatching fleets to annihilate the sea beasts.

Marsden decided to have the fleet take a detour so that they would not be the first to clash with the giant beasts.

”Major General, your order has been conveyed; the fleet is taking a detour,” reported his adjutant, Joe Bush.

”Very good.” Marsden nodded with satisfaction.

Jiang Feng finished digesting a belly full of meat, gaining 60,000 Physique, bringing his total Physique to 220,000. However, the price was that Snake Mother was becoming impatient; Jiang Feng was swimming far too slowly because he had to circulate his Devouring Technique. It was already dark, and they still hadn’t seen the USA. Jiang Feng didn’t explain anything; it wasn’t like he had asked to follow Snake Mother. If Snake Mother couldn’t stand it and left, that would be even better. However, Snake Mother’s patience was indeed quite good; she still didn’t intend to abandon Jiang Feng, but instead dragged Jiang Feng along to travel through the night.

Jiang Feng felt helpless; he had a long-lost feeling of being controlled, just like being forced to work overtime as a corporate slave in his previous life. After the two snakes traveled at full speed, their pace increased by N levels, approaching the speed of sound, covering a thousand kilometers in one hour. Snake Mother was slightly surprised; she hadn’t expected that the speed of this Little White Snake, Jiang Feng, would be completely on par with hers. No wonder this child could escape from nuclear bombs. Snake Mother had completely dispelled her doubts about Jiang Feng; with such speed, even if he hadn’t fallen behind, he could have escaped.

In the middle of the night, Jiang Feng and Snake Mother had already run thousands of kilometers. But Jiang Feng didn’t intend to run anymore; citing exhaustion, he decided to take a nap first. Seeing Jiang Feng’s exhausted appearance, Snake Mother’s maternal instincts flared, and she agreed to Jiang Feng’s request, letting him rest for a while.

Jiang Feng floated on the sea surface as his Star Body automatically absorbed starlight energy. Before long, the system prompt arrived: [Star Body absorbed starlight energy, Strength +40, Physique +40, Agility +40, spirit +40, Thermal Sensing distance +4 meters]. After his body size increased again, his Star Body was able to absorb more starlight energy, a fourfold increase compared to when he was over a hundred meters long. In one night, he could increase his total attributes by over two thousand.

One thousand kilometers away from Jiang Feng and the others, Marsden’s fleet was sailing toward the direction where Jiang Feng and the others were.

Five hours later, the sky just began to show a hint of dawn. Adjutant Joe Bush rushed to Marsden’s lounge and woke the still-sleeping Marsden.

”Major General, giant beasts detected.”

”What?” Marsden woke up instantly. ”Where?”

”A few hundred kilometers away; our reconnaissance plane discovered their tracks.”

Hearing the adjutant’s words, Marsden breathed a sigh of relief; he had thought the giant beasts had attacked.

”How many giant beasts are there? How big are they?”

”Currently, only two giant beasts have been detected, one big and one small. The big one is nearly a thousand meters long, and the small one is three hundred meters long.”

”What?” Marsden’s eyes widened, and his just-relaxed mood immediately tightened. A thousand-meter-long giant beast could directly capsize their aircraft carrier. ”Quick, avoid them.” Marsden did not want to fight them head-on.

”It’s too late, Major General. By the time our reconnaissance plane discovered the giant beasts, the giant beasts had already discovered us and are currently rushing toward our direction at high speed.”

”What? What are you all doing? How did the giant beasts know the direction of our fleet? Quick, change direction.” Marsden was so angry he wanted to hit someone; encountering such a troublesome thing early in the morning—they were clearly trying to avoid the giant beasts, yet they happened to run into them.

”Major General, the giant beasts are chasing the reconnaissance plane. The plane needs to land, so changing our direction is useless,” the adjutant said in a low voice.

”Then let the reconnaissance plane crash into the sea; don’t let it fly back to the main carrier.” Marsden said with a cold face. In order to preserve the carrier strike group, sacrificing one reconnaissance plane was no big deal.

”Yes, Major General.” After receiving the affirmative reply, the adjutant immediately ordered the reconnaissance plane to terminate its return, until its fuel was exhausted and it crashed into the sea. On the reconnaissance plane, the pilot received this death order and, without the slightest hesitation, immediately changed direction.
