Reborn As a Snake, I Can Absorb Fear

Chapter 108 Discovery of the IslandWith more than twenty swordfish over a hundred meters long, no giant beast dared to stand in their way.

Even the two giant Manta Rays that Jiang Feng had encountered earlier would likely have been swarmed and killed if they had run into this school of swordfish.

Below the level of five-hundred-meter giant beasts, this school of swordfish was an invincible force.

Brother Shark was quickly submerged by the school of swordfish, and blood instantly stained the sea red.

Jiang Feng watched as the shark struggled desperately amidst the swordfish; its chest cavity was pierced, its abdomen was slashed open, and its internal organs spilled out, only to be snatched up by the frenzied swordfish.

The swordfish had forgotten about Jiang Feng, the snake, and were thoroughly enjoying the corpse of Brother Shark.

Jiang Feng took the opportunity to slip away quickly.

This deep-sea area was too dangerous; everyone else traveled in groups, and he, as a lone snake, was the weakest of them all.

Jiang Feng planned to head toward the shallow sea areas, where the giant beasts he encountered would not be as strong.

Two hours later, Jiang Feng encountered another group of giant beasts.

It was a group of giant turtles, numbering seven or eight.

Each one was over three hundred meters long.

Their momentum was no weaker than that of the swordfish school, so Jiang Feng left immediately upon seeing them.

He had no interest in killing a turtle, let alone a whole group of them; he simply couldn’t win.

The sky had completely darkened, making it even harder for Jiang Feng to distinguish the direction.

Jiang Feng suddenly felt that the carefree days he had spent in Sakura Country were actually quite nice, without being hunted everywhere like he was now.

If it hadn’t been for Sakura Country planning to use nuclear weapons on him, he really wouldn’t have left so soon.

Being an unscrupulous snake was truly too difficult.

Jiang Feng floated on the surface of the sea. After the weather cleared, the starlight from the night sky shone onto his snake body.

His Star Body automatically absorbed the starlight. After more than half an hour, Jiang Feng received a system notification.

[Absorbed starlight energy: Power +10, Physique +10, Agility +10, spirit +10, Thermal Sensing +1.]

It wasn’t much of an increase, but it was better than nothing, and it would add up to something considerable over time.

Moreover, as his body size grew, he would absorb it faster, and the gains would be greater.

While floating on the sea, he didn’t know how much time had passed when Jiang Feng suddenly spotted an island.

His snake body suddenly surged with excitement, and Jiang Feng quickly crawled toward the island.

The ocean belonged to the fish, but on an island, fish had no place to use their abilities.

Even a thousand-meter giant beast, if it couldn’t get onto the shore, was just an object to be looked at.

There were many small fish on the beach near the island. Jiang Feng rushed over and gorged himself, swallowing a mouthful of fish and a mouthful of sand.

He had to spit it all back out.

The feeling of swallowing sand was truly uncomfortable, and his body instinctively resisted it.

Jiang Feng rinsed his mouth and, in disgust, didn’t swallow any more of these small fish.

He wasn’t actually hungry right now; he had just been so happy that he couldn’t help but want to eat.

Because it was dark, Jiang Feng didn’t know how large the island was, but it should be at least over four kilometers.

His Thermal Sensing detected many creatures on the island, but he didn’t find any giant creatures.

It stood to reason that a giant land creature couldn’t appear on an island; the most common creatures on an island were actually birds.

Because only birds had the ability to cross the sea; other land animals couldn’t appear on the island unless they were brought over by humans.

Jiang Feng sensed a creature nearly five meters in size; it was a seal.

Had even seals grown this big?

Jiang Feng was astonished. In his past life’s memories, seals weren’t that big, with a size of only one or two meters.

Yet here there was a giant seal five meters long.

Had all the animals mutated? And where exactly did those giant sea beasts come from?

Even if they mutated, it was impossible for them to mutate to such a size. Jiang Feng felt that those giant beasts must have appeared suddenly.

If they didn’t still share characteristics with Blue Star creatures, Jiang Feng would have suspected that those giant beasts were not from Blue Star.

Wait, Jiang Feng suddenly thought of a place.

That was the depths of the ocean; perhaps these giant beasts all came from the depths of the ocean.

What secrets were hidden in the depths of the ocean?

Jiang Feng became increasingly curious.

Jiang Feng quietly approached the seal—one thousand meters, eight hundred meters, five hundred meters...

The seal seemed to sense danger; it looked around uneasily, trying to confirm the direction from which the danger was coming.

It soon found out, as a gaping maw suddenly lunged to bite it.

The seal tried to escape in terror, but unfortunately, it was too late.

[fear points +300]

Jiang Feng bit the seal in one gulp. One minute later,

Jiang Feng burped; the seal had already been swallowed into his stomach.

It couldn’t have been simpler.

There were other creatures on the island, but Jiang Feng couldn’t be bothered to eat them; they were too small and held no appeal.

Jiang Feng found a large rock on the island, coiled up on it, and began to sleep...

Dragon Country, Imperial Capital, Mysterious Affairs Administration, Director’s office.

Director Xia Weiguo was still reviewing documents. Since becoming the director of the Mysterious Affairs Administration, he had been busier than before.

He was busy almost until twelve o’clock every night. After the incident with the deep-sea giant beasts broke out, he was even more overwhelmed.

The deep-sea giant beasts had occupied the ocean, and trade between countries had come to a sudden halt.

As a major trading nation, Dragon Country was significantly affected.

Of course, trade matters were not under Director Xia Weiguo’s jurisdiction, but the deep-sea giant beasts were.

People from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce came to see him every day, asking if he had any way to solve the giant beast problem.

Even people from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Engineering came to see him.

Director Xia Weiguo was extremely annoyed; it wasn’t that he didn’t want to deal with the giant beast problem.

It was that there was simply no effective plan. The last nuclear strike against the giant beasts had failed.

Director Xia Weiguo had not only suffered reprimands from his superiors, but he had also almost been stripped of his position as director.

Fortunately, there was no one more suitable to replace him for the time being, which allowed him to continue as director.

Although the last nuclear strike didn’t kill the giant beast, it had severely wounded it.

If they had launched a more powerful nuclear warhead at that time, perhaps the giant beast would have been killed.

Unfortunately, there were no ”ifs” in life. After the giant beast became alert, it was difficult for them to precisely strike it with nuclear weapons again.

As long as the giant beast dodged the core explosion area, ordinary nuclear bombs could not inflict fatal damage on it.

Unless they used more powerful hydrogen bombs, but every hydrogen bomb used was one less they had.

These were strategic supplies, and it wasn’t cost-effective to use them to bomb giant beasts.

Unless the giant beasts threatened national security, but clearly, no incidents of giant beasts attacking the coast had been discovered so far.

This could be considered a blessing in disguise.

”Director, the number of giant beasts appearing in various places has been increasing lately.” Secretary Song Qingya walked in at this moment, holding a file.

Director Xia Weiguo frowned; compared to the giant sea beasts, the threat of terrestrial giant beasts was actually greater.

”If a giant beast is discovered, if it cannot be controlled, eliminate it immediately.”

Director Xia Weiguo’s tone was stern; he absolutely could not allow terrestrial giant beasts to wreak havoc on Dragon Country.

”Director, the appearance of the terrestrial giant beasts might be related to the rain that fell two days ago,” Secretary Song Qingya suddenly said.
