Reborn As a Snake, I Can Absorb Fear

Chapter 47 FramedAfter the police arrived at the Su Family residence, they immediately cordoned off the entire manor area.

Forensic experts went to identify the deceased immediately.

The Director found the witness who reported the crime, a Su Family security guard who was responsible for guarding the main gate.

”Officer, last night while I was on duty, I was knocked unconscious. Later, I was woken up by some noises in a daze.”

”The sound came from the inner residence, so I planned to go check it out. But before I could move, I saw a Big White Snake come out from inside.”

”I was so scared I didn’t move an inch. Fortunately, the Big White Snake didn’t notice me and fled straight outside.”

”Only after the Big White Snake was far away did I dare to go out and look. After that, I saw the Su Family...”

The security guard finished recounting his entire experience tremblingly, without missing a single word.

”Director, the identification results for the deceased are out. Basically, they were all bitten to death, killed by Strangulation, or fallen to their deaths. It’s speculated to be a slaughter by a large serpentine creature. There are also traces of large serpentine activity inside. This white scale was found in a collapsed ruin; it should belong to a snake.”

The Director picked up the scale and looked at it. The scale was larger than a palm; if it really belonged to a snake, it wasn’t hard to imagine how large it must be.

In the Director’s mind, the Big White Snake had already become the prime suspect.

”Send out the order: a city-wide manhunt for the Big White Snake.”

”Yes, Director.”

Jiang Feng didn’t know that less than two hours after he left, he was already a wanted fugitive.

He headed back the way he came, and by now, the sky was starting to brighten.

From a distance, he saw the police cordon.

Have the police already found out?

Jiang Feng pondered, wondering if Su Ling had returned and wanting to go in and check.

However, as soon as he approached the cordon, a piercing alarm suddenly rang out.

A group of police officers quickly surrounded him.

”Release the net!” a loud shout rang out.

A massive net was suddenly thrown from the sky, descending toward him.

Are they trying to catch me?

Jiang Feng was startled. Although he wasn’t sure why this was happening, he wasn’t someone who would just surrender without a fight.

The net wasn’t falling very fast. Trying to catch him with this was clearly too simplistic.

Jiang Feng quickly slithered to one side.

”Quick, open fire and stop him!” Captain Zhang Tao ordered, being the first to draw his gun and fire at Jiang Feng.

A burst of dense gunfire erupted instantly, with bullets peppering Jiang Feng’s serpentine body.

His body was too large to dodge the bullets entirely, but fortunately, the power of handgun bullets was limited and not enough to pierce his scales.

A round of shooting didn’t cause any damage to Jiang Feng at all.

Even so, a surge of anger rose within Jiang Feng’s heart.

If he hadn’t happened to shed his skin again yesterday, he might not have been able to withstand such dense gunfire.

These people were directly aiming to kill him.

Why was this happening?

Jiang Feng’s snake eyes suddenly widened as he thought of a possibility.

The police had mistaken him for the murderer!

The more Jiang Feng thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

He had stayed at the crime scene for a long time, and the cause of death for those people was being killed by a large Eight-Headed Snake Monster, just like him.

It was entirely possible for the police to suspect him.

What should he do?

Not to mention that I can’t talk; even if I could, I wouldn’t be able to explain this clearly right now.

The real culprit is already far away, and I’m the one with the most suspicion.

Dammit, what a mess.

That damned eight-headed monster.

Jiang Feng didn’t plan to stay here any longer; he had to escape.

Since he couldn’t explain, he would hide. He had to hide anyway; although he didn’t fear these police officers now, it was only because they didn’t have any high-powered weapons.

If they couldn’t catch him, they would surely deploy SWAT or even the Military to hunt him down.

The Military’s weapons were incomparable to police guns; a few tanks could probably kill him.

Jiang Feng directly exchanged all his remaining fear points for Human-Eye Visual Range, instantly increasing it to 100 meters.

Only with a sufficient distance could he see things clearly and avoid falling into police cordons or traps.

Jiang Feng had intended to flee toward the river, but he felt a bit unwilling.

If he fled, his acquisition of fear points would stagnate. Since things had already turned sour, he had nothing left to worry about.

Before leaving, he wanted to harvest another wave of fear points.

The police behind him were in hot pursuit. Jiang Feng turned and lashed out with his tail, sending about a dozen officers flying.

These officers were instantly severely injured and lost their ability to fight.

”Quick, call an ambulance!” Captain Zhang Tao shouted, his eyes nearly bursting with rage.

That snake tail had almost hit him just now; an officer next to him had blocked it for him.

But it also left Captain Zhang Tao with lingering fear, making him afraid to recklessly pursue Jiang Feng.

Jiang Feng’s display of power decisively intimidated the group of police, and he harvested a wave of fear points in the process.

...

It wasn’t that a snake couldn’t resist; it just hadn’t wanted to before.

”Zhang Tao, how are you all doing?” the Director rushed over.

”Director, this snake is too dangerous. We need to request backup.”

”Mhm, I understand. I’ll apply to the higher-ups. You lead the men and follow from a distance; try your best to prevent the snake from harming anyone else.”

After shaking off the police, Jiang Feng slithered near a residential area.

The Su Family manor was actually located in the city center of Su City, surrounded by large, dense residential and commercial areas.

Right now, a high-rise residential complex stood before Jiang Feng.

He slithered directly over the wall and entered the complex.

Today was Monday, and office workers were already planning to head out early for work.

Jiang Feng slithered in over the wall, smashing cars and terrifying people as he went.

”Ah!”

A young female white-collar worker wanted to drive her beloved car to work, only to see a giant snake descend from the sky and smash her BMW into a pancake.

With Jiang Feng’s strength of five hundred, let alone a small car of one or two tons, he could even lift a ten-ton truck.

The noise of the car-smashing drew many people’s attention. Seeing the rampaging Jiang Feng, everyone trembled with fear.

That kind of power, which could flatten a person like paper with a casual strike, required no words; the visual impact struck deep into the soul.

...

Jiang Feng didn’t smash every car; he only smashed luxury cars.

After smashing a few and seeing no one else, he moved to other spots; wherever he saw people, he would flex his muscles to scare them.

Soon, everyone in the entire complex was too terrified to come out.

Seeing this, Jiang Feng didn’t linger and continued toward the next complex.

Someone soon reported the events at the complex to the police.

By the time the police arrived, Jiang Feng was long gone.

After visiting four complexes in a row, Jiang Feng had smashed twenty to thirty cars, and his tail was starting to feel a bit numb.

After all, cars were made of steel, and he was still a creature of flesh and blood; he relied entirely on the protection of his scales to keep his body from getting injured.
