Reborn As a Snake, I Can Absorb Fear

Chapter 23 The Frightened DuoJiang Hao looked around in terror, and then they suddenly felt the ground shaking violently.

They saw the ground all around them cracking open, quickly revealing churning magma beneath. The surrounding magma trapped them firmly on a small slab of stone less than ten square meters in size. The slab was only a meter or two above the magma, and both of them could clearly feel a scorching heat radiating from below.

Just then, a stone near Jiang Hao’s feet accidentally fell into the magma, sinking in and quickly melting to become one with it.

Seeing this, the two were scared out of their wits.

[fear points + 60]

[fear points + 50]

”Brother Hai, what is going on? How did we end up here?” Jiang Hao’s body was curled tightly in the center of the stone slab.

”How the hell would I know?” Wang Hai, also trembling all over, crawled to the center of the slab, and the two huddled closely together.

”Brother Hai, don’t crowd me; I’m already very close to the edge on my side.”

[fear points + 30]

”I’m not crowding you, and don’t you crowd me either; I’m right up against the edge on my side too.”

[fear points + 30]

”What do we do now? Who can save us?” Jiang Hao cried out, terrified to his core.

”Right, help—we need to call for backup.” Wang Hai’s eyes lit up at the thought, and he hurriedly took out his phone to make a call.

Hidden somewhere nearby, Jiang Feng watched the two coldly. The so-called magma was entirely his doing, using his Mental Energy to distort their perception.

If the two had dared to jump into the magma, nothing would actually have happened, but the environment Jiang Feng created was too realistic, making them terrified to even try.

The reason Jiang Feng created such a scene was mainly because the range of his Evil Snake Domain was too small, less than ten meters in radius. If he didn’t restrict them to a small area, it would be easy for them to run out of his domain’s range.

Creating a scene where they were besieged by magma was the most suitable environment; if he used any other scenario, they certainly wouldn’t have foolishly stayed put.

”Why can’t I get through!” Wang Hai pressed the button for a long time, but couldn’t get a signal.

”Brother Hai, there’s no signal here.” Jiang Hao opened his phone and discovered something that made him even more distraught.

”How can this be?” Wang Hai was instantly struck with despair.

[fear points + 80]

[fear points + 80]

The two wailed, cried, and screamed from time to time, but they never thought of jumping down into the magma.

[fear points + 50]

[fear points + 50]

Jiang Feng remained in the shadows, watching coldly without any intention of revealing himself, letting them slowly build up fear in their anxiety.

Although appearing might generate more fear points, it could also backfire and cause them to become suspicious.

Last night, when he had Chen Qian and Su Ling play the number game, it was actually quite easy to see through. The main thing was that he had them trapped on the stone slab now, and without any ropes to hang them from, he couldn’t physically intimidate them.

However, maintaining this scene was rapidly consuming his Mental Energy. Under the current circumstances, he could hold on for at most two more hours.

No, two hours was getting off too easy for these two. Since they came to catch him, he had to teach them a harsh lesson.

Jiang Feng hardened his heart and poured all his remaining two thousand fear points into his Mental Energy, instantly increasing it by one hundred points, bringing his total Mental Energy to 160.

The maximum range of his domain had reached a radius of 16 meters, but he didn’t expand it, as increasing the range would also increase the consumption of his Mental Energy.

In his current state, he could easily maintain it for over five hours.

Hehe, let you two properly experience five hours of being surrounded by magma and waiting for death!

[fear points + 50]

[fear points + 50]

The two continued to shout and call for help, but unfortunately, no one responded, and their voices couldn’t travel out.

[fear points + 50]

[fear points + 50]

After a long time, the trapped pair seemed to have grown tired of shouting and sat listlessly in the center of the stone slab.

[fear points + 20]

[fear points + 20]

Why are there so few fear points now? Seeing their pathetic state, Jiang Feng felt very annoyed.

Even ants cling to life; how could two grown men give up so easily?

With a thought from Jiang Feng, a stone flaked off from the edge and fell into the magma, making the already small stone area even smaller.

The two of them also felt the stone slab crumbling.

”Ah! The stone is falling away; we won’t be able to hold on much longer!” The two were panicked beyond measure, yet helpless to do anything.

[fear points + 60]

[fear points + 60]

That’s more like it!

”Brother Hai, are we really going to die here?” Jiang Hao’s face was ashen.

”It’s all your fault. If you hadn’t said we should come to catch the snake, would I have ended up in this godforsaken place?” Wang Hai had already started blaming Jiang Hao.

Jiang Hao gave a miserable smile and didn’t even bother to retort; in their current situation, he had no heart to argue back.

Afterwards, the two fell into a long silence again, as if they were waiting for death to arrive.

Jiang Feng even saw signs that they were about to fall asleep.

Damn, why are they giving up again?

Jiang Feng was speechless. With no other choice, he moved his mind, and another stone fell off the edge, startling the dozing pair awake.

”Ah! The stone is starting to fall again!” The two were terrified.

[fear points + 50]

[fear points + 50]

Just like that, to prevent them from dozing off, Jiang Feng would make a piece of stone fall off every once in a while.

As the stones slowly fell away, the stone area kept shrinking. Two hours later, it was less than four square meters.

The feet of the two sitting down could already touch the edge of the stone slab.

”Ah.”

[fear points + 60]

[fear points + 60]

Jiang Feng made the stone slab continue to crumble, forcing the two to stand up and crouch.

[fear points + 70]

[fear points + 70]

The slab continued to crumble, leaving them less and less space, until finally there was only enough room for the two to stand.

[fear points + 90]

[fear points + 90]

The next second, one of them would fall into the magma as the stone slab crumbled.

When the moment of facing death truly arrived, both of them were terrified to the extreme.

[fear points + 100]

[fear points + 100]

”Jiang Hao, it’s all your fault—you die first!” Wang Hai suddenly shoved Jiang Hao, wanting him to die first so he could survive a little longer.

Watching his body suddenly plummet toward the magma below, Jiang Hao was so terrified that he fainted.

[fear points + 100]

Seeing that things were coming to an end, Jiang Feng directly made the stone slab Wang Hai was standing on crumble as well. Wang Hai’s body fell toward the magma, and just like Jiang Hao, he rolled his eyes back and fainted.

[fear points + 100]

With his targets of intimidation now unconscious, Jiang Feng retracted the Evil Snake Domain.

This wave of intimidation, which lasted several hours, had earned him a full two thousand fear points, and the two men had triggered their self-protection mechanisms from the prolonged tension and fear, collapsing and remaining unconscious.
