Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 2476: Chapter 2470: Drink Till We Drop

”Hmm, not much, sit down and have some water, dinner will be ready soon.” Nangong Shulan just smiled. For her, there were just more dishes, but each with a small portion.

Besides, though it was a family meal, it wouldn’t be appropriate to make too little, so four or five dishes were needed, and so she made a bit of each.

But as for the rest, she didn’t make too much more, because in this weather, it wouldn’t keep well, and if she did make more, it’d be better to just let them take it home instead.

Qin Lei went to buy wine, and when he returned, he saw that his parents and his brother and sister-in-law were all there. He figured they came after he left.

”Mom and Dad, brother and sister-in-law. Come sit over here, dinner’s ready. I went to buy some wine, let’s have a good drink,” Qin Lei suggested, eager because it had been so long since they had a meal together. Now that they had time, they should enjoy themselves.

The main thing was that he didn’t know when he’d return after leaving this time, which was quite a difficult thing to say. Not being able to be by his parents’ side to accompany them in the future, he felt he was an unfilial son.

But now, he wanted to spend his free time with his parents. They were getting older, and every day they had together was less time they had left. As their child, he wanted to spend as much time with them as he could. So as a filial son, Qin Lei, of course, wanted to be with his parents.

Nangong Shulan was also a filial person, so when her husband did this, she didn’t object. On the contrary, she urged her husband to take time to accompany his parents because the Qin elders were also her parents.

”Alright, let’s drink to our heart’s content,” Qin Chaoyang laughed.

Qin Lei filled the glasses, even pouring half a glass for the three ladies. A family meal with happiness meant everyone should at least have a taste.

”Why do we get some too?” Nangong Shulan quietly asked Qin Lei, knowing she rarely drank.

”We’re happy today, everyone should drink a little. I won’t let you drink too much. We’re leaving here soon, and it’ll be rare to come back. Let’s just enjoy ourselves,” Qin Lei explained.

”Okay.” Nangong Shulan nodded and raised her glass, agreeing with him.

”Everyone, raise your glasses. Shulan and I are going over there to take over Xiao Yu’s work. I’m counting on brother and sister-in-law to look after everything at home. When we come back during the holidays, we’ll need a place to stay. No need for formalities, here’s to you first.” Qin Lei finished and drank a glass.

”We’re brothers, no need to be too courteous. Plus, I’m your older brother; I’ll help when I can, rest assured.” Qin Chaoyang also drank his glass. For him, helping his younger brother’s family was a given. If as an older brother he didn’t help, how could they expect others to? He wouldn’t just not care about anything.

Qin Chaoyang wouldn’t do other things as long as his brother had no ill intentions. What mattered was making their parents happy, so as an older brother, he would never put his parents in a difficult position.

”Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of the house. Out there, make sure you and Shulan stay out of conflict with others. Being just the two of you, unfamiliar with the place, offending someone won’t be good, so just live well together. Don’t worry about home.” The old man had never been separated from his youngest son for so long. Seeing them go so far away, he could only advise him to endure everything. It’s different outside than at home; they couldn’t protect them there.

In the village, the elders still had some authority, but outside, they wouldn’t be so fortunate.

So, whatever they did, they had to consider the consequences before acting. At home, parents would be very concerned because the aphorism ”When the son travels far, the mother worries” has been a saying since ancient times.
