Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 2071: Chapter 2065: Don’t Eat Spicy Foods

”Sis, sorry to keep you waiting. I’ll get you some water.” Ji Yan let his sister drink some water, then made sure she was lying comfortably and covered her with a light blanket before leaving the room.

”It’s okay, I’m not thirsty. Here is your sister’s medicine. Although this medicine isn’t exactly tailored to your sister’s illness, it will work just the same. You can give it to her; there won’t be any side effects. I’ll have someone deliver the medicine later; you can wash it and boil it for your sister to bathe with.” Qin Xue placed the pills she had taken out in front of Ji Yan, letting him keep them.

This was only because she didn’t anticipate someone would have the pox, so she didn’t have this kind of medicine prepared and had to do it this way.

”Thank you, sis. How much do these cost? Where do you live? Once I get the money, I’ll bring it to you.” Ji Yan took them, thinking as long as there was medicine, his sister would get better. As for the favor and the money owed, he would slowly repay them.

”Don’t push yourself too hard. Stay on the right path. As for the money, repay it when you’re able in the future. For now, you don’t need to repay me. Taking good care of yourself and your sister is the best gratitude you can show me. Otherwise, my efforts today will be in vain, and the talk of repaying would be pointless.” Qin Xue felt that this child had a kind heart, and if treated well, he would surely succeed in the future.

For Qin Xue to say this, it was because Ji Yan, despite being forced to steal money in desperate times, could calmly stop once someone extended help and remember the favor. With such qualities, who wouldn’t succeed?

So Qin Xue didn’t want him to go down the wrong path over the cost of these pills. Even though they weren’t cheap, she didn’t want him to do anything bad.

Therefore, Qin Xue needed to make things clear to him now, lest he resorted to stealing again after she left, which wouldn’t be good.

”Sis, I understand what you mean. Don’t worry, I won’t do that again. Now you’ve taken care of my sister’s illness, I won’t have to take that road anymore. Even if difficulties arise, I’ll find ways to solve them,” said Ji Yan, who was initially forced to do so but now felt a wave of relief, having understood things.

Had he not encountered Qin Xue and her husband, he might have ended up sent to jail by someone else, leaving his sister alone at home—what would happen then? What if someone bullied her?

So after hearing Qin Xue’s words, Ji Yan promised he wouldn’t do such things again, because it was truly unacceptable.

”Good, it’s great that you understand. I’m going back now. Remember not to let your sister eat spicy food or anything too greasy. Keep it light, and definitely don’t scratch at the pox. It’ll leave scars. A young girl with scars won’t look good.” Qin Xue gave some precautions, particularly about diet, which she believed they could easily meet since they didn’t have money to buy good food; even having enough to eat was a concern, let alone greasy food.

As for scratching leading to scars, this was important. Scratching pox would leave pits, and even once it’s healed, they wouldn’t fill in. A pit would remain, and while it’s not too bad on the body—since clothes cover it—on the face, which is the most visible part, it can’t be hidden.

Moreover, there’s no way to remedy it. The only solution is not to scratch during the outbreak, and no matter how itchy it gets, one must endure.

Qin Xue was so certain of this because she had the pox as a child. Her grandmother wouldn’t let her scratch, and feeling unbearably itchy, she took advantage when her grandmother wasn’t paying attention to scratch and burst several pox bubbles on her head. Once healed, her body was fine and smooth, but she had a few pits left on her head.

And those pits didn’t grow hair; just small patches of smooth skin showing. Fortunately, it was in the middle of her head, covered by hair, otherwise, she would’ve cried about its unsightliness.
