Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1768: Chapter 1762: Brother Can’t Belong to You Alone

“Dad, will Yuran become Brother’s wife in the future?” Yu Chen asked a startling question after hearing his father’s words.

“Why would Yuran become Brother’s wife?” Chu Molin asked his youngest son in confusion.

“Mom said she wanted to bring Yuran home, but Aunt Qing said that if we bring her home, she’d become our wife. But I don’t want a wife, so then she’d be Brother’s wife,” Yu Chen replied, still not understanding what “wife” meant, but he didn’t want Yuran as his wife—he only wanted his brother.

“Xue’er, are you already thinking about having a daughter-in-law so early?” Chu Molin hadn’t realized his wife had come up with this sort of idea.

“Of course not, it was just a joke. No matter how much we talk about it, it won’t matter—if they don’t like each other when they grow up, it won’t happen anyway. Didn’t I already discuss this topic with you before?” Qin Xue understood that fate is very mysterious; often the people you think ought to be together end up apart, while those who seem unlikely end up together. So Qin Xue believed in letting things flow naturally.

Who can know what kind of lives children will have when they grow up? No matter how much parents fantasize now, it won’t matter later. If their children don’t fancy someone, can parents force them?

Though Qin Xue genuinely liked Qing Yuran, that little girl, and thought it wouldn’t be bad if she really became her daughter-in-law someday.

Chu Molin could never win against her. His wife was so capricious; she’d act on whim. Fortunately, she always respected boundaries, or else he wouldn’t know how to handle things.

“So, do you think Brother and Yuran being together is better, or Brother being with you is better?” Qin Xue already knew what her youngest son was thinking. She asked this question to see if he’d change his perspective—after all, kids are fickle, and a little boy only a year old had even more unstable thoughts.

“Brother is mine,” Yu Chen said indignantly, puffing up his cheeks as he glared at his mother—no one could take his brother away.

“But once Brother has a wife, he’ll belong to Sister-in-law.” Qin Xue didn’t want to instill such ideas in her youngest son, but he was overly attached to his eldest brother.

Qin Xue worried that if this continued, his possessiveness might become a problem later on.

“Can’t Brother just belong to me alone?” Yu Chen asked pitifully, looking at his mother with wide, imploring eyes.

“No, because Brother is also Dad and Mom’s son. In the future, he’ll be Sister-in-law’s husband,” Qin Xue shook her head, unwilling to promise such an unrealistic idea to her son.

“Alright, I understand.” Although Yu Chen wasn’t happy, his mother said that Brother couldn’t belong only to him. He looked over at his brother and eventually responded to Qin Xue’s words.

He wanted Brother to be happy, so he couldn’t act like Mom said. He nodded and agreed with her.

“Our Yu Chen is so good.” Qin Xue hadn’t expected Yu Chen to come around so quickly, and she was a little surprised by it.

“Mom, hug me,” Yu Chen said, reaching out to wrap his arms around Qin Xue’s waist. He wasn’t happy now and didn’t want to talk anymore.

“Alright, Mom will hug our Yu Chen,” Qin Xue said, heart aching a little for her youngest son. Still, she didn’t quite know what was going on with him; she worried that as he grew up, he might develop improper feelings toward his brother, so it was better to start teaching him now.

Some might say that Qin Xue shouldn’t be doing this—that she was borrowing trouble unnecessarily. But when she noticed even the slightest bit of something wrong, she felt it was better to address and curb it right away, correcting the child’s thoughts in time. Only by doing this could the child grow up normally. Qin Xue hoped for all her children to grow up healthy, not with distorted emotions. She preferred for her son to feel upset now rather than regret later.
