All Gods: Starting with Two Families

Chapter 177 Dedicated to My GodThe tug-of-war continued for an unknown amount of time.

The barrier of the Bright Archipelago grew weaker day by day, yet it never shattered.

The Evil Faction waited outside, growing restless, and several attempts at a forceful assault were beaten back.

The Good Faction waited inside, growing weary, and several attempts to counterattack were blocked.

Both sides remained in this stalemate.

Until that day.

Every deity simultaneously sensed one thing—the divine authority fragments of the God-Forsaken Land had all been collected!

What did this mean?

It meant the game had entered its final stage!

The Plane began to tremble.

The tremor did not come from underground; it came from the level of the rules. Every deity could feel that something was loosening, disintegrating, and collapsing.

The restraining force of the God-Forsaken Land was weakening.

At the same time, the power of the deities was recovering.

But the will of the Plane was not willing to be conquered just like that. It was making a final counterattack.

...

With the completion of the divine office, a believer in every deity’s church had reached sequence 1.

The final arrangement of the God-Forsaken Land was that it gave those most devout believers a choice.

In the temple on Us Island, Moby knelt before the Feathered Serpent statue.

A voice resonated in his consciousness, not that of Zhou Zheng, but of the Plane’s will itself:

”You have reached sequence 1.”

”Now, you have two choices.”

”First, rebel against your God. With the power of the Plane, ascend to sequence 0. Battle against your God. If you win, you will replace Him and become a new deity.”

”Second, sacrifice your Life. Use your body as a furnace to achieve a complete divine office. You will die, but your God will obtain the complete authority.”

Moby was silent.

He looked up at the Feathered Serpent statue.

The statue’s eyes were still pitch black, but he knew that behind those eyes, a God was watching him.

He remembered The Blind young master who had struggled through the territory. He remembered the sight of him shedding tears when he ”saw” light for the first time. He remembered that sunflower that was forever golden. He remembered those voices that provided guidance in the darkness.

He remembered the sequence 9 The Blind, the sequence 8 The Deaf, the sequence 7 The Smell-less, the sequence 6 The Mute.

Moby lowered his head and smiled.

”I choose the second.”

The will of the Plane fell silent.

”Are you sure? You have worked so hard to get to this point, only one step away from becoming a deity. Do you not want to know what sequence 0 feels like?”

Moby shook his head.

”I do not need to know.”

He stood up and faced the statue.

”My God, thank you.”

He began to burn himself.

Golden flames rose from within him, representing all his Life, all his Spirituality, and all his faith. The flames burned brighter and brighter, illuminating the entire temple.

The believers praying outside the temple looked up, watching that light, not knowing what had happened.

Only Zhou Zheng knew.

His Divine Thought enveloped Moby, watching the flames burn fiercer, watching that figure fade away.

In the deepest part of the flames, something was taking shape. It was the complete divine office, the complete authority, something Moby had forged with his Life.

This was Moby’s choice. This was the end of this sequence. This was the final metamorphosis of the [infant] path.

In the instant that figure was about to dissipate, Zhou Zheng extended his Divine Thought and scooped gently.

A wisp of transparent, faint light was scooped out from the flames by him.

That was Moby’s Soul.

...

The light faded away.

The temple returned to peace.

The Feathered Serpent statue still stood there, its eyes still pitch black. But at the foot of the statue, there was a small, soft light.

That was Moby’s Soul.

He was curled up there, like a newborn infant.

Zhou Zheng looked at him and remained silent for a long time.

Then, a complete set of information unfolded in his consciousness—

Moby had walked the entire journey.

He walked from incomplete to perfect, from perfect to transcend. Then at the final moment, he chose to sacrifice himself to achieve the divine office.

This was the end of this sequence, and also the beginning.

...

At the same time, another piece of information unfolded in Zhou Zheng’s consciousness.

That was the sequence of the God of Ascension.

Luna had also made the same choice.

Sequence 1 [Spring of Life]—oneself is a divine medicine. Ability: Blood, hair, and tears can all save people.

Luna also burned herself.

Her flames were green, like the vegetation of spring, like all growing things. After the flames faded, there was also a soft light in the temple of the God of Ascension.

Two Souls.

Two lights.

The final sacrifice of two Subordinate Gods.

...

Zhou Zheng looked at those two lights, remaining silent for a long time.

His Authority of Evolution was finally complete.

He could feel that the evolutionary power of the entire God-Forsaken Land was converging toward him.

Those creatures that were metamorphosing, those Life forms that were climbing, those beings that were transcending themselves—they were all providing him with power.

Endless.

Infinite.

Zhou Zheng raised his head, his gaze piercing through the dome of the temple, through the barrier of the Bright Archipelago, through that crumbling God-Forsaken Land.
