All Gods: Starting with Two Families

Chapter 158 The Infant PathThe Preparatory Knight carried the burlap sack, walking down the stone steps one by one.

The basement door was heavy, letting out a piercing creak as it was pushed open. There was no light inside, so dark that he couldn’t see his own hand in front of his face. He walked a few steps in the dark, then took out a fire starter and blew on it until it lit up.

The weak firelight flickered, illuminating a corner of the basement.

Then he saw him—the castle’s Young Master, Mobi Us, standing motionless in front of a desk.

To be precise, he was standing in front of the desk ”watching” him.

The Preparatory Knight shivered. This Blind Young Master was always like this; even though he clearly couldn’t see anything, he always made people feel as if they were being stared at. He didn’t dare look further, placed the burlap sack on the ground, and quickly left with his head bowed.

The sound of footsteps disappeared at the end of the stairs.

Mobi Us didn’t care about his departure. All of his attention was focused on the pile of Materials in front of him.

A transparent crystal tube contained one milliliter of liquid—his own tears. Beside it was a white mushroom; it grew in graveyards, absorbing sunlight during the day and emitting a faint glow at night.

He opened the burlap sack.

Bats. Moles. They had already been processed—no blood, no internal organs, only bodies wrapped in fur.

Mobi Us reached out both hands, gently stroking them.

His fingertips brushed over the bat’s wings, thin as a cicada’s wing, where he could feel the fine skeleton. He felt for the position of the ears—small and pointed, like two tiny leaves.

He then felt for the mole. It was round and plump with soft fur, and its whiskers were long and stiff, poking out one by one.

He picked up the small silver knife.

The knife was very sharp, specially customized by the servants at his request. He gripped the handle, pressed down on the bat’s head with his left hand, and used his fingers to feel for the position—

A single cut fell.

Clean and efficient.

The bat’s ears were completely sliced off.

With the same movement, he removed the mole’s whiskers.

His movements were elegant and precise, without a single wasted motion.

Behind him, a voice that only he could hear rang out:

”Grind the Graveyard Mushroom, bat ears, and mole whiskers into powder.”

Mobi Us picked up the mortar, put the Materials inside, and began to grind. The powder was finished grinding.

He picked up the tube of tears and carefully dripped them in.

The tears mixed with the powder, emitting a faint sizzling sound and slowly turning into a pool of black gelatin. It looked like an ointment but smelled with an indescribable fragrance.

”Apply it to your eyelids.”

Mobi Us took a deep breath, dipped his finger into the mass of black gelatin, closed his eyes, and smeared it on.

The moment the gelatin touched his skin—

Burning.

It was as if someone had pressed his eyelids into hot coals. As if someone were holding a red-hot branding iron against his eyeballs. As if he were staring directly at a sun—a real, blazing, blinding sun.

His body twisted violently, his back slamming into the edge of the desk before he slid down, half-kneeling on the ground. Sweat broke out on his forehead and slid down his cheeks, mixing into the black gelatin. He gritted his teeth and didn’t scream, but a suppressed groan still escaped his throat.

”Hold on,” the voice said, majestic and calm. ”Stare directly into this sun.”

Mobi Us gritted his teeth, his entire body trembling.

Before his eyes—or rather, within his eternal darkness—a sun truly appeared. That sun grew larger and brighter, so bright that he thought his eyes were going to be burned through.

And then—

The sun went out.

Darkness descended once more.

But he felt that something was different.

He leaned weakly against the wall, panting heavily. Sweat had soaked through his clothes, and he looked as if he had just been fished out of water.

”Tap the ground with your cane.”

Mobi Us felt around and picked up the cane leaning against the wall, using the last of his strength to tap the ground once.

Thud—

A crisp sound echoed through the empty basement.

Then, he saw it.

Sound waves spread out like ripples, hitting the walls and reflecting back. Those reflected sound waves outlined a picture in his consciousness—black and white, with simple lines, yet incredibly clear.

He saw the outline of the basement. A rectangular space, irregular stone walls, and a ceiling supported by wooden beams.

He saw the desk in front of him. The four legs, the flat surface, and the outline of the sunflower pot at the corner.

He saw the mortar and pestle, the remaining half of the bat’s carcass, and the pool of uncleaned black gelatin on the ground.

He saw himself.

That shadow stood by the desk, its outline thin, shoulders slightly slumped, with one hand still gripping the cane. That was him. That was the first time he had seen what he looked like.

Mobi Us looked at it all greedily, loath to blink. He was afraid that if he blinked, these images would disappear.

But they disappeared anyway.

Those white lines slowly faded, finally vanishing completely into the darkness.

”Use it at most once a day,” the voice said. ”Otherwise, your Spirituality will bear a great burden.”

Mobi Us nodded vigorously, then took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.

He stood up straight, facing the direction the voice came from—he didn’t know what was in that direction, but he knew that his God was there.

”My God.” His voice was raspy, yet carried an unprecedented determination. ”What can I do for you?”

—

In the God-Forsaken Land, items formed from the Divine Thought seeds of deities carry a portion of the Law.

These Laws cannot be used directly; they must be ”refined” through the local Materials of this world.

The refined products are called [Potions].

When a believer drinks a Potion, they can host the Law and obtain Transcendent Power.

The pathways of this Transcendent Power are called Divine Sequences.

The sequence pathway Zhou Zheng constructed for metamorphosis is named [infant].

God of Metamorphosis [Infant Pathway]

Sequence 9 [The Blind]

Potion Formula: One gram of Graveyard Mushroom powder, one pair of bat ears, three mole whiskers, one milliliter of sincere tears.

Sequence Ability: At the cost of losing sight, gain a massive enhancement in hearing. Objects can be ”touched” through sound waves, achieving an effect similar to simulating vision.
