Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

”Lord of Ten Thousand Stars” may hold the power over the life and death of billions of intelligent species in the Milky Way, but that position isn’t easy to occupy.

Not to mention other things, just managing daily affairs is not something an ordinary person can handle.

Lu Li indeed isn’t an ordinary person, but he doesn’t want his freedom to be bound by any profession.

While chatting with his cousin, he used his divine sense to post a declaration online.

Simple and to the point: I’m Lu Li, not running, please don’t vote for me.

...

On Weibo.

Someone immediately noticed that Lu Li’s official account had just updated.

”Wow, the ’Eternal Star Lord’ has updated his Weibo!”

”Updating at this time, could it be that he’s canvassing for votes?”

”Haha, ’Eternal Star Lord’, you don’t need to canvass for votes, we’ll definitely vote for you.”

”Our goal is the stars and the sea, the Earth primaries are not worth mentioning at all. I hope when the real election starts, the final result will be the ’Eternal Star Lord’!”

”Yes, the Earth primaries will surely have ’Eternal Star Lord’ representing Earth, that’s beyond doubt. As for the official election later, that’s our main battlefield.”

A group of netizens flocked to Lu Li’s Weibo to check out the update.

And then...

Well, then everyone was dumbfounded.

Because Lu Li actually stated he didn’t want to run and even asked people not to vote for him.

”Huh?”

”What’s going on?”

”’Eternal Star Lord’, don’t mess with us like this, if you don’t run, how can we compete with the aliens?”

”Exactly, you are the only Earthling likely to become the ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’. If you don’t run, should I take part in the election?”

”I can run too! I can love the Galaxy Alliance!”

”What status do you have to run? Get out!”

A group of netizens felt very disappointed and started discussing it fervently.

”Hey, what do you guys think we’ll do if ’Eternal Star Lord’ doesn’t want to run?”

”What to do? He’s ’Eternal Star Lord’, naturally one of our Earth’s candidates, just vote for him, simple as that.”

”I also think so. ’Eternal Star Lord’ says he doesn’t want to be elected, but he hasn’t disabled the voting option. I’ll just vote for him when the official voting starts.”

”Everyone quick, campaign for ’Eternal Star Lord’, we can’t let him not run just because he doesn’t want to. We must make him ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’!”

”Well said, go campaign for ’Eternal Star Lord’.”

”I’m in.”

”Me too.”

”No doubt, eternal support for ’Eternal Star Lord’.”

”’Eternal Star Lord’ must become ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’!”

Lu Li’s influence on Earth can be described as unprecedented, and many people have already become his followers. Plus, Lu Li’s actions to avenge the Milky Way by destroying the Small Magellanic Cloud remain vivid in everyone’s minds.

Even when he claimed he didn’t want to run, the global public still unhesitatingly wanted to vote for him.

These are Lu Li’s die-hard fans, blind to the extreme.

Of course, not everyone is so blind.

Some more rational people offered different opinions.

”Since ’Eternal Star Lord’ has stated he doesn’t want to run, it must be sincere.”

”Exactly, if he wanted to be ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’, just a shout and I doubt anyone in the Milky Way would not vote for him.”

”Fine, let’s assume nobody in the Milky Way actually votes for him, but if he wanted to be ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’, could anyone stop him? Just like when he became our Earth’s ’Eternal Star Lord’, initially what was everyone’s attitude? In the end, could an arm twist a leg? Hey, as ’Eternal Star Lord’ has clearly stated, don’t make it hard for him, don’t add trouble.”

”Although I don’t know why ’Eternal Star Lord’ doesn’t want to be ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’, I’ve always held him in the highest regard, and will follow his wishes, not vote for him.”

”So annoying, I wanted to vote for ’Eternal Star Lord’, but now that he’s said he doesn’t want to be elected, who should I vote for?”

”Nonsense, who else can you vote for? Are you Huaxia?”

This is another section of the public’s opinion.

They believe that since Lu Li has stated his position, they should respect it absolutely and follow his wishes.

Apart from these two brief views, there’s actually another perspective.

”’Eternal Star Lord’ says he doesn’t want to run, but if people really don’t vote for him, and he ends up with no votes at the end, wouldn’t it embarrass Earth if this gets out to the alien planets?”

”Right, we can’t let ’Eternal Star Lord’ end up with no votes.”

”In my opinion, even though ’Eternal Star Lord’ doesn’t want to run, we should unconditionally support him. However, as everyone says, we shouldn’t let him have no votes at all. We should control it, aiming for him to be second place. This way, he gets his wish not to run for ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’, but also won’t lose face because he received too few votes. Brothers, am I right?”

”Makes sense!”

”Yes!”

”This bro is right!”

”Even if ’Eternal Star Lord’ doesn’t want to run, we can’t let him end up with no votes.”

”Let’s control the votes, everyone should aim to keep ’Eternal Star Lord’ in second place.”

The official voting hasn’t started yet, but many citizens have already discussed how to vote next.

As time passed, it soon approached 3 PM.

At this time, as the official voting got closer, many local bigwigs, upon learning that Lu Li doesn’t want to run, started to feel active, considering whether they might have a chance to represent Earth and run.

So George, the Great Emperor, and Uncle Long, among others, recorded a new campaign video.

This time, those bigwigs’ campaign videos were particularly solemn.

Promises of welfare for global citizens if elected, policies for super benefits to the people and Earth, whatever they could do to win people’s hearts.

Many citizens, previously worrying about who to vote for since Lu Li didn’t want to run, now had ideas as to whom they should vote for after watching these.

This Milky Way ”Lord of Ten Thousand Stars” election, even though it’s just a primary, has already drawn a lot of attention.

Many people were already prepared, just waiting for the voting channel to open, to verify their identity with facial recognition, and then cast their valuable votes.

...

In Diamond Home.

Since Lu Li clearly stated not to allow family members to vote.

A few younger siblings could only idly play on their phones.

From time to time, their friends would call, asking how to proceed.

”Hey, Xiaodan.”

”Don’t ’hey’ me, my brother said he doesn’t want to be elected, don’t bother.”

”Huh? Why doesn’t he want to be elected?”

”Who knows, sigh, my princess dream shattered.”

”I wanted to work in the Galaxy Alliance after graduation, but now my brother doesn’t want to be elected, it seems my dream is dead before it could even start.”

A few younger siblings kept sighing and lamenting with friends.

The oldest cousin seemed the most helpless.

She had already rallied votes for Lu Li in the WeChat group.

Now hearing Lu Li’s stance, she quickly went back to the group to say, ”My brother said he doesn’t want to be elected, no need to vote for him, thank you all.”

”’Eternal Star Lord’ doesn’t want to be elected?”

”And told us not to vote?”

”Why! I want to vote for him!”

”Yeah, I don’t care, I’m voting for him, he’s my hero!”

”No one can take away my right to vote, even if I’m crushed, I’ll still cast a vote for ’Eternal Star Lord’!”

In the WeChat group, all of the oldest cousin’s friends and classmates expressed the same sentiments.

They’re all passionate youths. Previously, Lu Li saved Earth and the Milky Way from crises time and again. To them, Lu Li was already a hero for the ages, so how could they not vote for him?

Lu Li’s perceptiveness being so remarkable, he naturally noticed this situation.

He was speechless for a while, thinking that even after declaring he didn’t want to be elected, people still might vote for him, making him Earth’s candidate, and eventually ”Lord of Ten Thousand Stars”.

Lu Li’s desire not to be elected wasn’t just lip service; it was his most genuine wish.

Thus, he truly hoped people wouldn’t vote for him.

Sure, he had simpler ways to ensure he wouldn’t be elected, like using his supernatural abilities to alter the vote count, or having Pangu intervene.

But he didn’t do it because he believed that the election for ”Lord of Ten Thousand Stars” is a sacred affair for the entire Milky Way and shouldn’t be influenced by external forces.

Hopefully, I won’t be elected.

But what if I am?

Lu Li blinked and thought to himself, ”I can’t really go take office as ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’, can I?”
