Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 137: Chapter 128: Telepathy

The bedroom was pitch black.

Lu Li sensed that Liu Kexin’s attitude towards him was not very resistant, thinking about whether he could break through their relationship.

To break through the psychological defenses of the other party, first one needs to know what the other party is thinking.

A woman’s heart is like a needle at the bottom of the sea.

An ordinary person definitely can’t figure out what someone else is thinking inside.

Lu Li is different, he has a way to sense others’ inner thoughts.

That’s right, mind reading!

Thinking of this, he activated mind reading without hesitation, wanting to delve into her inner thoughts to conquer them.

At this moment, Liu Kexin looked like an ostrich with her head down, allowing Lu Li to hold her hand, without saying a word.

Lu Li had just activated mind reading and was secretly pondering, ”What should I do next?”

Suddenly, Liu Kexin looked up in some surprise and asked, ”What do you mean by ’what should I do next’?”

Lu Li was startled, ”What?”

He felt very puzzled, secretly thinking, ”How does she know my inner thoughts?”

Liu Kexin became more and more surprised, ”Weren’t you talking, what do you mean ’how do I know your inner thoughts’?”

Hmm?

Something’s wrong!

Lu Li closed the mind reading technique immediately, somewhat unsure and asked, ”Did you just hear me speaking?”

Liu Kexin replied sullenly, ”It’s just the two of us in this room, who else would be speaking besides you?”

Eh?

Just now, all I said was that, I didn’t say anything else.

Then how did Liu Kexin ”hear” my inner thoughts?

Lu Li found it strange, pondering whether it was related to the mind reading technique.

He decided to run a small experiment.

Lu Li first thought in his mind, ”I want to kiss you,” then blinked and asked, ”Did you just hear what I said?”

Liu Kexin replied expressionlessly, ”Of course I heard.”

Uh, unrelated to mind reading?

Lu Li became even more confused.

Just as he was puzzled, Liu Kexin continued, ”Didn’t you ask me if I heard you speaking, I said it’s just the two of us, who else could it be speaking?”

Oh!

You heard that sentence, huh.

Lu Li could roughly confirm that earlier when she heard his thoughts, it was indeed related to the mind reading technique.

He couldn’t help feeling very curious since previously mind reading could only ”decode” a person’s inner thoughts from their brain waves while thinking.

Now it can actually pass his thoughts for others to know?

Lu Li realized that the mind reading technique must have ”upgraded” unintentionally.

He could roughly speculate that the upgrade was possibly not related to the second deep evolution, but rather had to do with his Little Golden Man’s prior upgrade.

Why is he so sure?

The mind reading technique is related to spiritual power.

Spiritual power is linked with the Little Golden Man.

So Lu Li could be certain that the upgrade of mind reading was probably due to the Little Golden Man’s upgrade.

Previously mind reading was one-way communication, now it’s two-way?

Lu Li knew that now mind reading might not be called mind reading anymore but should be called telepathy.

The function of telepathy, most likely, is to capture the thoughts of those around and also to transmit one’s thoughts, provided it’s within the range of one’s spiritual power.

Since telepathy can transmit one’s inner thoughts, does it have any other functions?

For example... creating hallucinations for others?

Lu Li decided to use Liu Kexin as a ”guinea pig” to experiment.

With this in mind, he activated telepathy again, focusing entirely on constructing an image in his mind.

The next moment, Liu Kexin looked up confused, ”Hey, how did the light in your room turn on by itself?”

Lu Li was overjoyed, it really works!

Liu Kexin, puzzled, said, ”What do you mean it works?”

Lu Li: ”...”

In a helpless situation, he turned off the telepathy.

He recalled slightly, when he implanted the hallucination image earlier, the spiritual power consumption was particularly large.

Liu Kexin seemed startled, her hair stood on end, ”How did the light turn off automatically again? Is there something unclean in your room?”

Lu Li could even feel her left hand he was holding was trembling.

He stubbornly denied, ”What lights on and off, I’ve been crouching here for so long, the light has been off the whole time.”

Liu Kexin seemed to become even more terrified, her tone carrying a bit of a tremble, she weakly said, ”You... you really didn’t see the light suddenly turn on by itself and then inexplicably turn off?”

Lu Li feigned innocence, ”No, maybe the work pressure is too much causing you not to rest well, leading to hallucinations?”

Liu Kexin asked in confusion, ”Could it really be my illusion?”

He muttered a few words to cover up.

Lu Li once again activated the Mind Reading Technique.

And he suggested to himself that his inner thoughts could not be perceived by the other party.

Once he was done suggesting to himself, he tried in his mind, ”Can I kiss you?”

Liu Kexin didn’t react at all.

It seemed as if she didn’t hear his inner thoughts this time.

Lu Li constructed the image of the light turning on again in his mind, then suggested transmitting it to the other’s mind.

As soon as this idea came up, Liu Kexin stood up abruptly in fright, her tone extremely terrified, ”The light... the light is on again!”

Lu Li thought to himself deliberately, ”What light is on again?”

After thinking it through, he deliberately waited for a moment to see if she heard.

Clearly, this time Liu Kexin did not hear his inner thoughts.

She only looked extremely terrified, ”Your... your house is so strange, I... I have to leave.”

Saying this, she turned to leave.

Lu Li confirmed that he could control his inner thoughts from being detected by the other party, quickly stood up, and grabbed her, ”I’ve told you it’s because you are too stressed from work and are hallucinating. If you don’t believe me, close your eyes now, open them again, and I guarantee the light will be off.”

Liu Kexin was trembling all over.

After all, Chinese horror is much more chilling than Western horror.

Just imagine, would you rather see thousands of zombies in front of you or a pair of red embroidered shoes suddenly appearing at the bedside?

Currently, Liu Kexin is under the state of ”seeing embroidered shoes.”

However, she seemed to have a high level of trust in Lu Li, ”I... I’ll try.”

Saying this, she closed her eyes.

Lu Li took the opportunity to close the illusion transmission, then said, ”Now open your eyes and see.”

Liu Kexin opened her eyes again, looked at the room in confusion, ”When I closed my eyes just now, it seemed like the light in the room was on, how come it’s gone when I open them?”

Lu Li blinked and said, ”Didn’t I just tell you, it’s because you’re too stressed from work and haven’t rested well, causing hallucinations.”

Liu Kexin seemed to waver in self-belief, muttering, ”Could it really be like this?”

Lu Li proactively reached out to stroke her hair, ”Of course, what else could it be? You’re just too busy and confused, that’s why you’re having these hallucinations.”

As he said this, he secretly smiled to himself.

At this point, Lu Li could roughly discern the specific function of telepathy.

Simply put, telepathy could, like making a phone call, allow both parties to discern each other’s inner thoughts.

It could also work like a radio, only receiving the other party’s inner thoughts.

Of course, it could also work like sending a telegram, only showing the other party what you want them to see.

This function is really great.

If there’s anything Lu Li feels regretful about, it’s that telepathy is not mind control, and it can’t enable him to use his Spiritual Power to make the other party act according to his will.

But from the current trend, when his Little Golden Man becomes stronger in the future, he should be able to perform mind control.

Clearly, Lu Li was stroking Liu Kexin’s beautiful hair with his hand, yet she didn’t resist as she did just now, merely lowered her head in shy embarrassment.

At the same time, Lu Li, with his Mind Reading Technique active, eavesdropped on her inner thoughts: ”Last time he was in my bedroom, he kept wanting to kiss me. Now he’s touching my hair. Will he take the opportunity to kiss me later? If he really wants to kiss me, should I refuse or not?”

Hmm?

If I really kiss you, you don’t know whether you should refuse?

Lu Li sensed her thoughts, knowing Liu Kexin was internally conflicted.

He decided to take the initiative, to try cutting through the confusion quickly, giving her no time to ponder.

With that in mind, Lu Li looked at her affectionately, then slowly leaned in, intending to give her a kiss.

Although the room was very dark, eyes naturally adapt.

Liu Kexin, having stayed here for so long, could vaguely see Lu Li’s actions in the darkness.

She saw Lu Li slowly leaning over, and her heart leaped into her throat, becoming extremely flustered internally, ”He’s really going to kiss me, what do I do? What should I do?”

Even though Liu Kexin hadn’t decided on her course of action, her feminine reserve instinctively made her raise her hand to stop Lu Li on his chest, her tone turning fierce, ”Lu Li, what do you think you are doing?”

Saying this, there was almost a hint of pleading in her inner voice, ”Stop trying to tempt me, or I will really fall.”

Lu Li was certain that she was just ”putting up a final struggle,” so he didn’t say anything, just wrapped his arms around her and continued leaning in for the kiss.

Liu Kexin’s resistance was quite strong, her voice also panicked, ”Lu Li, what are you doing?”

Lu Li knew he was likely to succeed with a forceful kiss, but this seemed a bit disrespectful.

After some thought, he decided to find a way to make her willingly accept it.

So, he pressed his forehead against hers, moved in close, and spoke tenderly, ”Kexin, do you know that from the first time I saw you, I fell in love with you at first sight?”

Liu Kexin was stunned, her feelings mingled with confusion, ”Rea... really?”

”Yes,” Lu Li’s tone was full of tenderness, ”Later, as I spent time with you day and night, I felt my affection for you growing stronger and stronger. Especially last time in your bedroom, when I looked into your eyes, and you looked into mine, everything felt so different. I felt myself becoming stronger yet weaker at the same time, feeling excited yet scared. I didn’t quite understand the feeling, only knew that I wanted to be someone, as if completing an unattainable dream... but I was not prepared at all.”

Finishing this, he leaned in for a kiss.

Liu Kexin didn’t resist, only widened her eyes and said something vaguely through her blocked mouth, ”You copied Spider-Man’s confession to Mary Jane!”

Lu Li: ”...”
