Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Might Not Catch Up

The Demon Suppression Bureau had some special hidden pieces and undercover agents dedicated to handling matters that were inconvenient to make public. For example, they planted spies to monitor the Marquis Mansion, the Grand General’s Mansion, or various Sects.

They also employed some special talents. These individuals specialized in fields like Weapon-Forging, Alchemy, Talismans, and Arrays.

Lu Ming excelled at investigating cases, which qualified him as a special talent useful to the Demon Suppression Bureau. In the past, while working on various cases at the Government Office, he would often uncover crucial clues or make major discoveries and report them to the Bureau. However, since he wasn’t an official subordinate, the procedures were overly complicated.

If he directly became a member, serving as an undercover agent with a dedicated handler, he could utilize the Demon Suppression Bureau’s resources and practice their powerful Cultivation Techniques without having to leave the Government Office to face deadly risks. Instead, he could continue doing the investigative work he loved and excelled at.

However, this required approval from the higher-ups. Lu Yuan was nowhere near qualified to authorize such a thing, so he could only ask Squadron Commander Qin Gang to help submit an application and see how it went.

”That’s a good idea,” Lu Ming readily agreed.

”This is great! This is really great!” Wei Huiling was also highly satisfied.

It was the best of both worlds—absolutely fantastic! The matter was thus decided.

It was too early to sleep, and he couldn’t practice his cultivation right now. Lu Yuan climbed onto the roof, enjoying the evening breeze and looking at the stars.

”Brother Yuan~”

Before long, Lin Siyao appeared on top of the wall. With light, graceful steps, she quickly closed the distance and sat down beside him. Since Lu Yuan had recently joined the Demon Suppression Bureau, he had been quite busy. Their time to interact had grown shorter, leaving them no choice but to meet at night.

Adults only needed six to eight hours of sleep; there was no need to go to bed as soon as it got dark. And as long as they didn’t do anything inappropriate, Song Yumeng no longer interfered.

”Aren’t you cold wearing so little?” Lu Yuan held Lin Siyao’s hand, finding it icy to the touch.

”I’m not cold. I’m not afraid of the cold,” Lin Siyao shook her head with a smile. With her Profound Yin Body, how could she possibly fear the cold?

Lu Yuan pulled her into his embrace, using his own body heat to warm her.

”Brother Yuan, you’re so warm,” Lin Siyao said, hugging him happily. After all, who wouldn’t want a warm embrace?

”In the summer, you’re my cooling pillow, and in the winter, I’m your heating stove,” Lu Yuan teased.

”Hehe, we’re a perfect match,” Lin Siyao beamed.

Just as heaven and earth were divided into yin and yang, so too were people. Men represented pure yang and women pure yin; this balance created the ultimate pairing. However, her Profound Yin Body was much colder and more troublesome than typical pure yin.

”When will your body be fully recovered?” Lu Yuan asked.

”It should be soon,” Lin Siyao replied, finding it hard to explain in detail. Her body had grown much stronger lately, and she was already condensing True Gang.

”In front of me, you don’t need to hide anything. I hope to see the day when you shine brilliantly and astound the world, living in perfect harmony with me,” Lu Yuan said, gently stroking Lin Siyao’s hair.

”I’m not hiding anything. I just don’t really like showing off,” Lin Siyao said, burying her head against Lu Yuan’s chest.

”Heh, did you think I didn’t know you were a peerless genius?” Lu Yuan pinched her cheek.

”Ah?” Lin Siyao lifted her head, puffing her cheeks slightly in an adorable manner. ”Am I exposed? Honestly, I just learn a bit faster, have a slightly better memory, and pick up more things. It’s nothing special.”

”Yeah, once you can practice the Martial Dao, you won’t be able to hide it anymore,” Lu Yuan nodded.

Lin Siyao suddenly flashed a playful smile. ”In the past, I might have been able to catch up to you, Brother Yuan. Now, it’s looking a bit dangerous.”

”Exactly. If you don’t practice hard, you might never catch up to me in the future,” Lu Yuan said with a confident smile.

”I’ll do my best so that I don’t fall too far behind you, Brother Yuan,” Lin Siyao said, raising a small fist. She knew her own talent very well. However, Brother Yuan’s Cultivation and strength had advanced by leaps and bounds lately. If he could maintain this momentum, it really would be hard to catch up.

”Don’t pressure yourself either. Just take it step by step,” Lu Yuan reminded her. He could sense that Lin Siyao had been a bit anxious recently.

”Mhm,” Lin Siyao nodded. ”Brother Yuan, what kind of Martial Arts have you been practicing lately? Why was there so much CRACKLING and POPPING last night?”

”Haha, I obtained a Profound Weapon and have been using the Power of thunder and lightning to temper my body,” Lu Yuan explained with a smile.

”A Profound Weapon! Tempering your body with the Power of thunder and lightning? That’s incredibly dangerous!” Lin Siyao warned. This was what she had wanted to say the most; she didn’t want Lu Yuan putting himself in harm’s way.

”I know. I’m deliberately controlling it and being very careful,” Lu Yuan said, patting her slender back. He couldn’t tell anyone about the Undying Martial Body. ”By the way, I’ve been learning Weapon-Forging recently.”

”Weapon-Forging?” Lin Siyao was stunned. Why the sudden interest? No matter how she looked at it, Brother Yuan didn’t seem like the blacksmith type. An ordinary Craftsman’s inheritance wouldn’t be worthy of Brother Yuan at all!

”Yeah, I’m planning to forge a Profound Weapon for you. What kind would you like? A sword? A zither? A brush? Or maybe a hairpin?” Lu Yuan asked. A Profound Weapon was similar to a Magical Artifact and wasn’t restricted to any specific outward appearance.

Lin Siyao was deeply moved. Unable to resist, she planted a kiss on Lu Yuan’s cheek. ”As long as it’s a gift from you, Brother Yuan, I’ll love it. Even if it’s just a piece of wood.”

”Tell me what you truly want deep down,” Lu Yuan said, frowning slightly. ”Whatever” was always the hardest request to fulfill. If it wasn’t exactly to her liking, it simply wouldn’t do.

”A sword, then. I’ll probably be using a sword in the future,” Lin Siyao replied. A zither was too complicated, and a saber was too fierce and domineering, better suited for a man. A sword was light and agile, the perfect match for a fairy maiden. After all, she fully intended to become a beautiful fairy maiden in the future.

”Alright, I’ll keep that in mind.” Lu Yuan gently played with Lin Siyao’s fair hands, measuring their size to determine what kind of sword hilt would suit her best.

Early the next morning, Lin Siheng appeared on top of the wall. With his hands clasped behind his back, he wore a look of utter arrogance.

”Lu Yuan, let’s have another match!”

”Are you itching for a beating again?” Lu Yuan asked.

”Who’s itching for a beating? You have to defeat me first before I treat you with respect! Otherwise, you’ll have to call me Brother Heng from now on!” Lin Siheng jumped up, a crooked smirk worthy of Luo Feng appearing on his face. ”But you’re not allowed to use True Gang!”

”Do you know that I’ve undergone blood renewal?” Lu Yuan’s lips curled upwards.

”What? Blood renewal?” Lin Siheng’s expression changed. How was it so fast? How many days had it been since he broke through to the Eighth Grade? He knew exactly what blood renewal signified and how much strength it provided. However... ”So what if you’ve undergone blood renewal? I’ll beat you to a pulp anyway!”

”Alright, come on then,” Lu Yuan said helplessly, gesturing for him to approach.

[The Jade Capital’s newly ascended little overlord, Lin Siheng, has been riding high on success lately, frolicking among the flowers and showing signs of losing his way...]

[Mission Issued: Pin his head down and beat him awake. Completion Reward: 1,000 Experience Points.]

Lu Yuan was speechless. Just a short time ago, his confession of love had been rejected and he had been suffering from heartbreak. Now, he was already frolicking among the flowers and riding the breeze of success. Lin Siheng’s future life was truly looking to be a colorful one.

”Take this!” Lin Siheng leaped three to four meters into the air from the top of the wall. As he fell, he threw a fierce punch, crashing down like Mount Tai with the momentum of a thunderbolt. ”Overlord’s Thousand-Pound Fall!”

Lu Yuan simply stretched out one hand and caught the strike effortlessly. With a slight surge of strength, he flung the boy away.

SMACK!

Lin Siheng hit the ground.

”Again!” Lin Siheng quickly adjusted his footing and shot forward like a cannonball, throwing another punch.

SWISH!

Lu Yuan extended his hand and effortlessly caught the fist once more. ”Is this all the strength you have?”

”Ah! Don’t look down on me!

”Take this, this, this, and this!”

Lin Siheng wildly swung his fists, launching a rapid barrage of explosive strikes like a meteor shower. The power behind each punch exceeded two thousand pounds.

Lu Yuan couldn’t help but take a few steps back, shifting his body to prevent the kinetic force from shattering the bluestone beneath his feet.

”Yeah!

”Let’s see you act so arrogant now! Let’s see you show off!

”Hahaha, this feels great!”

Lin Siheng grew more invigorated the more he fought, his small fists pounding away like little hammers. It couldn’t help but remind Lu Yuan of the Little Heavenly Gang Meteor Hammer. The two were actually quite similar...

”I’m done, I’m done fighting.” A quarter of an hour later, Lin Siheng stopped, nearly collapsing from exhaustion. ”Lu Yuan, you’re really something. You managed to block so many of my punches without even using Gang Qi.”

”Nonsense, I’m older than you. If I wasn’t stronger, who would be?” Lu Yuan scoffed.

”Tch!” Lin Siheng turned his head away, unwilling to pay attention to a certain someone. So what if he was engaged to his sister? Sooner or later, he would defeat Lu Yuan and force him to call him older brother!
