Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Second Blood Exchange

First, he took the Bone Marrow Cleansing Pill, then used a massive amount of True Gang to nourish and stimulate his bone marrow cells, prompting them to divide.

During this process, Lu Yuan also utilized the power of thunder and lightning generated by the Wind Thunder Saber to temper his body.

The electrical power was wondrous. It possessed unparalleled penetrating capabilities, affecting muscles, meridians, bones, and even internal organs.

With a light wave of the Wind Thunder Saber, sparks flew with a ZAP.

Touching it with his fingers, the voltage wasn’t high, nor was the current very strong. An Eighth-Grade Martial Artist’s body was strong enough, and with the protection of Gang Qi, his body only felt a tingling numbness, reaching all the way into his bones and marrow.

As the cells divided and grew, the potent restorative power of the Undying Martial Body forced them to absorb bits of the power of thunder and lightning to transform and evolve. It wasn’t just the bone marrow cells; other cells, when stimulated, were also forced to absorb and refine the electrical power.

The results left him highly satisfied.

With the evolution of the bone marrow cells, the blood they subsequently produced would also be stronger. It would carry more energy, and even possess higher resistance to—as well as the ability to absorb and refine—thunder and lightning, leading to a much stronger body-tempering effect. It might even alter his innate aptitude.

”Body tempering with lightning. Where did he learn that?”

In the Lin family courtyard, Song Yumeng furrowed her brows slightly. Ever since the last incident, she had been paying closer attention to Lu Yuan. She hadn’t expected to ”see” such a scene tonight.

Thunder and lightning were among the most powerful and difficult-to-control forces in the world. Tempering the body with lightning was usually something only body-refining experts at the Fourth Grade or higher would attempt.

However, Lu Yuan’s method was quite clever. Instead of drawing on Celestial Thunder, he was utilizing the power of thunder and lightning generated by swinging the Wind Thunder Saber, which was forged from Wind Thunder Stone. Its might was significantly smaller, drastically reducing the risk. It seemed appropriate for tempering his body.

Yet, it still required extreme caution, as lightning possessed the ability to obliterate lifeforce, and an Eighth-Grade Martial Artist’s body was still quite frail in comparison. One slight mistake could lead to disaster, crippling him entirely.

If Lu Yuan ended up crippled, her second daughter would definitely blame them, perhaps even holding a grudge against them for the rest of her life.

”This kid is getting bolder and bolder.”

”It’s all because Aman has no filter and just blurts out whatever comes to mind!” Lin Siyao gritted her teeth. She didn’t want Lu Yuan taking risks, but there was simply no way to persuade him.

”Hmm?” Song Yumeng looked at Lin Siyao. What did she mean?

”Aman told Brother Yuan that you and Father looked down on him,” Lin Siyao said indignantly. She had only recently managed to interrogate this out of him.

”What?” Song Yumeng’s eyebrows instantly shot up. How dare he go around blabbing about private matters discussed behind closed doors!

Did this boy have no brain at all?

”That little brat!” Song Yumeng turned her head, instantly spotting the shifty-eyed Lin Siheng sneaking around. She immediately darted over, hoisted him up by the collar, and gave him a severe beating.

”Ahhh! Oww!” Lin Siheng let out a series of miserable shrieks. ”Mother, why are you hitting me?! Why are you hitting me?!”

”What do you think?!” Song Yumeng demanded. ”Not only am I going to beat you, I’m going to enforce the family law!”

”What?! Mother, please don’t!”

Lin Siheng’s screams grew louder, then gradually faded away. Soon, they disappeared completely.

”Hehe...” Lin Siyao sneered, not feeling a shred of pity.

She knew her brother had a sturdy constitution; he wouldn’t break from a beating. Moreover, it wasn’t like her mother would actually use lethal force on him.

”What happened?” Lu Yuan peeked his head over the wall and asked.

”He was being naughty and disobedient at the academy,” Lin Siyao smiled radiantly.

”Then he deserves a beating.” Lu Yuan chuckled, reaching out a hand.

”Brother Yuan.” Lin Siyao hurried over, placing her small hand in his. ”You’ve been working so hard lately, Brother Yuan...”

...

At noon, in the Demon Suppression Bureau.

Lu Yuan and Liu Zhi went to the cafeteria together.

”Brother Lu, today’s dishes are incredibly rich. They even have Demon Beast Flesh!” Liu Zhi exclaimed in surprise.

Demon Beast Flesh nourished vitality and qi, acting as an extremely potent tonic. However, the stronger the demon beast, the stronger its violent aura. It required an expert to refine it before it became edible. This cafeteria rarely served it.

”Some experts must have gone into the mountains to carry out a mission,” Lu Yuan guessed.

The mountain ranges surrounding the Jade Capital contained quite a few demon beasts. They needed to be regularly culled to prevent them from growing into greater demons and wreaking havoc on the surrounding areas. But that was usually the duty of the Demon-slaying Bureau...

”Hehe, we just need to eat.” Liu Zhi hurriedly picked up a piece of Demon Beast Flesh. It was in limited supply, with only one portion per person.

”Yeah, you’re right.” Lu Yuan also took a portion.

They brought their trays to a table and began to enjoy their meal. It was just the two of them; Mu Lingche, Jiang Hongfei, and Yu Qiuyang were still training diligently.

”This Demon Beast Flesh is so delicious.” Liu Zhi’s eyes crinkled into crescents, feeling utterly blissful. As soon as he swallowed it, he could feel a shift in his vitality and qi, as if they had been ignited.

”Mhm.” Lu Yuan nodded.

Demon beasts were nourished by Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi, so their taste was naturally extraordinary. But Demon Beast Flesh was complex; the most crucial aspects were its preparation and refinement. If handled improperly, it would be completely inedible.

”Sun Jin!” Liu Zhi’s expression suddenly shifted as he gave a warning.

Lu Yuan looked up and saw that it was indeed Sun Jin. In the next instant, Lu Yuan’s gaze sharpened.

As Lu Yuan saw Sun Jin, Sun Jin naturally saw him too. However, while Sun Jin’s previous looks toward Lu Yuan had always been filled with contempt and disdain, his eyes were now brimming with hatred and malice...

There shouldn’t be such deep-seated hatred between them, even if Lu Yuan’s true strength and combat achievements had been exposed.

Unless...

”There’s only one possibility...” Lu Yuan thought, a foreboding feeling rising in his chest.

Sun Jin had found out about him reporting the Sun family’s collusion with the Evil Cult. This matter should have been known only to the higher-ups of the Demon Suppression Bureau.

Now...

This meant someone had leaked the information to Sun Jin!

Under normal circumstances, Sun Jin had no right to access such intel, and Lu Yuan himself was just a small fry.

”I can’t just let him brush past this!” Lu Yuan thought, abruptly standing up.

”Sun Jin!”

”Lu Yuan!”

Sun Jin marched straight over and lowered his voice, ”Everything you’ve inflicted upon me, I will pay back in full!”

”Are you blaming me for your family’s collusion with the Evil Cult?” Lu Yuan sneered. ”Aren’t you a member of the Demon Suppression Bureau? Shouldn’t your best course of action be to place righteousness above family loyalty and personally arrest them to prove your devotion?”

”You...” Sun Jin’s face twisted.

Placing righteousness above family loyalty was easy to say, but those were his closest relatives.

”If it’s true, I will. But don’t think you’ll have it easy either!

”Don’t think you’re innocent. Don’t think your family is spotless, or that your father is completely clean!

”Hehe, I will investigate thoroughly. I’ll dig deep, and then we will properly settle this debt!”

”My family is completely clean!” Lu Yuan’s eyes turned icy. ”I’ll give you an opportunity right now! Let’s bump up our scheduled duel. How about this afternoon?”

”This afternoon? Are you sure?” Sun Jin froze upon hearing this, then laughed. Was he being serious?

”I am sure,” Lu Yuan enunciated each word clearly.

”Good!” Sun Jin shouted. ”Since you’re so eager to die, I will grant your wish! In two hours, on the training grounds, a life-and-death battle! Hahaha...”

Sun Jin walked away laughing in high spirits, completely abandoning his meal.

”Brother Lu, you were too impulsive!” Liu Zhi looked worried.

Even though Lu Yuan had a track record of single-handedly killing a High Tier Eighth Grade Martial Artist, Sun Jin was different from that man, and the environment would be completely different.

In broad daylight, in a direct, head-on confrontation, how was Lu Yuan going to defeat Sun Jin?
