Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: 3 Kills with 1 Slash, Ghost Fang

Golden Needles Breaking Gang, Silver Needles piercing acupoints.

The scholar’s body suddenly stiffened.

”You... you...”

He hadn’t expected Lu Yuan to have such a trick up his sleeve. Caught completely off guard, he was instantly subdued.

”Apologies, just a self-defense weapon.” Lu Yuan walked up to the scholar. First, he checked him for any dangerous items. Searching him, he found a stack of silver notes, along with some secret letters.

”Don’t move, or you’ll die a graveless death!” the scholar threatened, his expression shifting.

”Oh? Threatening me? Do you know who I am?” Lu Yuan smiled, stuffing all the items into his own robes. ”Besides, you’re my prisoner now.”

”A prisoner? We’ll see about that.” The scholar suddenly grinned, revealing a ferocious smile.

”BANG— BANG—”

The doors and windows were suddenly smashed open, and three burly men rushed in.

”Kill!”

”Kill him!”

Two wielded sabers and one held a sword; each was an Eighth-Grade Martial Artist. All three of them slashed at Lu Yuan simultaneously.

Startled, Lu Yuan quickly grabbed the scholar to use as a human shield.

”You...” The scholar was furious and terrified.

Shocked, the three martial artists hastily pulled back their weapons.

”SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!”

Right at that moment, Lu Yuan flicked his wrist, hurling several Golden Needles.

”CLANG! CLANG!”

”THWACK—”

Only one hit its mark; the rest were blocked. Immediately following that...

”THUMP—”

Lu Yuan launched a palm strike, knocking the scholar toward one of the martial artists, while he himself charged at another with his saber.

Wind-Breaking Nine Slashes!

”SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!”

More than ten streams of Saber Qi burst forth, crisscrossing in a ferociously sharp attack that followed right on the heels of the hidden weapons.

Alarmed, the saber-wielding martial artist hastily flared his Gang Qi to defend himself.

”BANG! BANG! BANG!”

”SLASH—”

Lu Yuan delivered another strike. This time, all of his strength was concentrated into a single slash.

”BANG—”

The Gang Qi was shattered. The martial artist’s chest was sliced open.

”SWISH—”

”Die—”

At that moment, the other two attacked from the left and right. On the left was the sword-wielding martial artist who had caught the scholar. On the right was the saber-wielding martial artist who had been struck by a Golden Needle, now forcefully gathering his Qi to fight to the death.

Sensing the danger, Lu Yuan immediately shrank back and retreated. He wondered why Old Lu still hadn’t come out to help. Fighting three—or rather, two—opponents at once was still somewhat stressful.

”Break!”

Right then, the scholar unleashed a Secret Technique. His vitality surged, and his skin swelled, turning bright red.

”SQUELCH—”

”SQUELCH—”

Blood sprayed as every single Silver Needle and Golden Needle was forced out of his body.

Lu Yuan was genuinely surprised. This scholar actually had some skill to be able to expel his hidden weapons.

”You deserve to die!” The scholar gnashed his teeth and regained control over his puppet. It was still a three-on-one fight, and the combat power of the scholar’s puppet was clearly higher than that of the two Eighth-Grade Martial Artists combined.

”I’m afraid you don’t have what it takes.” Lu Yuan remained completely unfazed. He still had trump cards he hadn’t played.

”Kill!”

”Kill!”

The scholar controlled the puppet to lead the charge, while the two Eighth-Grade Martial Artists flanked from both sides to assist in the siege. The three entities launched a fierce, coordinated assault.

”CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!”

”BANG! BANG! BANG!”

Lu Yuan swung his saber to defend himself. The two sides engaged in a fierce clash.

Even with his Wind-Breaking Nine Slashes mastered to perfection, fighting one against three put Lu Yuan under immense pressure. His body bore the brunt of massive impacts and shockwaves. Of course, his defense remained watertight. However, he obviously didn’t like being on the receiving end of such a beating.

”WHOOSH—”

Lu Yuan leaped out of the room and landed in the courtyard. The space was larger, giving him much more room to maneuver.

”You won’t escape today!” The scholar sneered coldly and slammed his hand against the doorframe.

”ZING—”

”ZING—”

Silver threads suddenly appeared in the courtyard, crisscrossing in every direction. They enveloped and sealed off over half the yard, forming a lethal web. Judging by the material, they looked remarkably similar to the threads the scholar used to control his puppet.

”These Thousand Entwined Threads are incredibly sharp and nearly impossible for swords or sabers to cut.

”You are undoubtedly going to die today.”

”Don’t be so full of yourself.” Seeing that Old Lu still showed no intention of stepping in, Lu Yuan had no choice but to play one of his trump cards.

”WHOOSH—”

Lu Yuan charged straight at the three enemies.

”Go!” The scholar commanded his puppet to lunge at Lu Yuan head-on.

Unyielding Will! His combat power multiplied tenfold!

”SLASH!”

Lu Yuan delivered a heavy cleave, sending the puppet flying.

”WHOOSH—”

Lu Yuan rushed right up to the three, and then...

”SQUELCH! SQUELCH! SQUELCH!”

With a single horizontal slash, all three of their heads were sent flying into the air. The battle was over in an instant.

”CLAP— CLAP— CLAP—”

A round of applause rang out. At some unknown point, a figure wearing a bamboo hat and a ghost-face mask had appeared on the roof. He sat there comfortably, resting one leg on the roof ridge, looking completely at ease.

”Good, very good. Not bad at all. A splendid fight.

”How about joining Money Manor? My Money Manor needs talents like you.”

Lu Yuan immediately recognized the man’s background. He thought, ”Ghost Fang!” A sudden chill ran down his spine. This was a Peak Seventh-Grade Martial Artist.

”Money Manor... sounds very wealthy. I wonder, how much can you offer me per month?”

”Definitely enough for you to spend. How does three hundred taels sound?” Ghost Fang replied.

”Three hundred taels!” Lu Yuan was astonished.

His father was a Seventh-Grade Martial Artist who worked as a Chief Constable at the Government Office, yet his monthly salary was merely a dozen taels or so. He himself worked at the Demon Suppression Bureau, earning a standard monthly salary of ten taels. Was Money Manor really so extravagant that they could offer him three hundred taels a month?

”Very tempting, but how can I trust you? Besides, it shouldn’t be that simple, right?” There was absolutely no way he would accept. But Ghost Fang was too strong; Old Lu definitely couldn’t defeat him.

”It’s simple. I’ll pay upfront.” Saying so, Ghost Fang tossed a pouch down.

”SMACK—”

Lu Yuan caught it. Without needing to open it, he knew it was gold—roughly thirty taels. One tael of gold was equivalent to ten taels of silver.

”Naturally, after joining, you’ll need to complete some missions—at most twice a month,” Ghost Fang added.

”Sounds good. I’m tempted.” Lu Yuan was waiting for Old Lu to make a move. If they launched a sneak attack, the two of them should be able to get away.

”Good, I’ll take you to join the faction right now.”

Ghost Fang suddenly shifted horizontally, appearing above the courtyard wall and striking out with his palm.

”BOOM—”

With a muffled rumble, the sturdy courtyard wall collapsed under the sheer force.

”WHOOSH—”

Lu Ming appeared more than a dozen meters away, wielding a sharp saber.

”SWISH—”

Ghost Fang landed on an intact section of the wall behind him. ”You’ve got some skills.”

”Ghost Fang! A third-class wanted criminal of the Demon Suppression Bureau! Peak Seventh Grade!” Lu Ming said, his expression grave.

”Oh? You know who I am, yet you still dare to stay here.” Ghost Fang chuckled wickedly. His strength was a significant cut above a regular Seventh Grade; defeating a standard Seventh-Grade Martial Artist was effortless for him. The man in front of him wouldn’t even survive three of his moves.

”I naturally have something to rely on. I already passed the message to the Demon Suppression Bureau,” Lu Ming said with a smile.

”I can easily finish you off before the hounds of the Demon Suppression Bureau arrive,” Ghost Fang said confidently.

”Who can you finish off?”

A hale and hearty figure appeared, landing on a nearby wall to form a pincer formation with Lu Ming.

Lu Ming and Lu Yuan simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief.

”Two of them...” Ghost Fang suddenly understood.

No wonder they dared to stay here. The newcomer was stronger, and if the two teamed up, he wouldn’t be able to take them down in a short amount of time. If the experts from the Demon Suppression Bureau arrived in the meantime...

”I’ll let you off for now. We will...” Ghost Fang turned around, intending to take Lu Yuan with him, only to find that Lu Yuan was nowhere to be seen.

He wondered what was going on. Where did that kid go? Suddenly looking toward Lu Ming, he realized they were working together!

”Until we meet again!”
