Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 50: Chapter 50: She Actually Laid a Hand on You

”Give me the Qi Nourishing Pills.” Lu Yuan held out his hand.

”Huh?” Yu Qiuyang’s eyes instantly widened. He thought, ”Why should I give them to you?”

”Have you forgotten what you owed me this morning?” Lu Yuan said calmly.

Yu Qiuyang’s breath hitched as he instantly remembered. However, he wondered if there was a need to be in such a rush. Was Lu Yuan afraid he would deny the debt or something?

”HISS.” Yu Qiuyang sucked in a sharp breath, pulling out four Qi Nourishing Pills and handing them to Lu Yuan.

”Is there no interest?” Lu Yuan frowned. Two hundred taels could buy five pills from Liu Zhi, but Yu Qiuyang only gave him four. He was taking a loss here.

”No... I don’t!” Yu Qiuyang nearly cursed out loud. He thought, ”You want interest after just one day? Isn’t that too ruthless and shameless? Are you Zhou Bapi?”

”Hmm?” Lu Yuan glanced at him, deciding not to bicker with him for now. He wasn’t in the mood tonight.

This mission was overseen by a Squadron Commander—in fact, it was a major joint operation involving three Squadron Commanders. Chen Qiang, Lu Yuan, and their group were only responsible for this small section, a single battlefield. It was likely the weakest and easiest one.

It wasn’t long before two inspectors arrived to verify their battle merits and confiscated wealth. Soon after, news arrived from other areas. The targets in various locations had largely been eliminated, with members either captured or killed. Only a Seventh Grade expert named ”Ghost Fang” had escaped. Additionally, a leader known as ”Devout Old Lady” had failed to appear. Portraits and basic information of the two were distributed, and a city-wide wanted poster was issued.

It was not until the early hours of the morning that Lu Yuan returned home and immediately fell asleep.

By the time he opened his eyes again, it was already bright outside.

”Mr. Lu, time to eat.” At the door, Yaoyao immediately stood up when she saw Lu Yuan come out.

”Okay.” Lu Yuan patted her head, then went to wash up. He ate his meal and began his martial arts practice.

Because of last night’s mission, he didn’t have to go to the Demon Suppression Bureau this morning. Yesterday, he had bought ten Qi Nourishing Pills and two Bone Tempering Pills. He had used four Qi Nourishing Pills. Last night, he acquired another nine Qi Nourishing Pills and one Bone Tempering Pill. Adding the Bone Tempering Pill he previously had, Lu Yuan now possessed fifteen Qi Nourishing Pills and four Bone Tempering Pills.

He ingested one Qi Nourishing Pill and one Bone Tempering Pill, commencing his bone-tempering cultivation.

”BAM BAM.”

”BAM BAM.”

He practiced by striking the ironwood dummy, using the recoil force to push his bone tempering to the limit.

”SWISH.”

Suddenly, a figure appeared on top of the wall, her pretty face covered in a frosty expression. ”Miss Mu wants you to practice somewhere else. Don’t disturb her.”

”Who are you? And who is Miss Mu?” Lu Yuan rolled his eyes. He thought, ”I’m practicing punches in my own home, and it’s bothering you?”

”You...” the woman glared.

”That’s enough, Cuihe. Come down,” Mu Lingyan’s voice rang out.

”Yes, Miss Mu.” Cuihe glared at Lu Yuan one last time and leaped down.

Lu Yuan was speechless. He wondered what kind of game this was.

Before long, four figures appeared at the entrance of Lu Yuan’s home. It was Mu Lingyan, Lin Siyao, Cuihe, and Lin Siheng.

”I heard your cultivation broke through to the Eighth Grade and that you’ve joined the Demon Suppression Bureau,” Mu Lingyan said.

”The Marquis Mansion’s intelligence network certainly is well-informed.” Lu Yuan withdrew his fists and turned around. He only spared Mu Lingyan a passing glance before fixing his eyes on Lin Siyao. The girl’s spirit and vitality seemed to have undergone some changes.

”Brother Yuan,” Lin Siyao walked over briskly and stood beside Lu Yuan. ”I heard you went on a mission last night. You didn’t run into any danger, did you?”

”No, it wasn’t too dangerous.” Lu Yuan shook his head. He took the initiative to grab Lin Siyao’s hand, pressing his fingertips directly against her pulse. It was indeed much stronger. He wondered if she had fully recovered and was now able to cultivate. ”Your body...”

”My mother used her True Essence to help me recuperate,” Lin Siyao explained.

”Oh.” Lu Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. Since Lin Siyao’s mother had done it, it was definitely fine.

”I sewed an Inner Armor for you. From now on, you must wear it every day!” Lin Siyao brought out a piece of soft leather armor.

”Alright, I’ll listen to you,” Lu Yuan accepted it with a smile.

Mu Lingyan looked extremely displeased. ”It seems the Bone Marrow Cleansing Pill’s effect was quite good. You’ve completed Gang Transformation in just a few days.”

”For that, I must thank Eldest Miss Mu for gifting me the Bone Marrow Cleansing Pill,” Lu Yuan chuckled.

”Heh.” Mu Lingyan wore an expression that said ’I knew it.’ ”Do you want me to give you another one?”

”Sure, thanks. Hand it over.” Lu Yuan extended his hand. His mindset had changed slightly. He would first try everything possible to increase his strength. Once he was strong, everything else would become relatively simple.

Mu Lingyan was speechless. She had only been teasing, not expecting Lu Yuan to actually ask for it. What was embarrassing was that she didn’t have one on hand right now. ”I’ll have someone deliver it later,” she said.

”Never mind then, there’s no sincerity in that,” Lu Yuan couldn’t help but laugh. ”However, when Miss Mu gets engaged, I will still give you a valuable gift.”

”You...” Mu Lingyan glared at him, thoroughly angered. The words she hated and found most difficult to accept were ”get engaged.” It wasn’t just because of Lin Siyao, but also because of herself. Marriages in noble families were rarely self-determined. The reason she worked so hard was so that she could make her own decisions about her marriage in the future, but it was incredibly difficult. Yet, Lu Yuan kept reminding and provoking her about this very matter...

”What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong?” Lu Yuan asked in confusion, looking at Lin Siyao.

”I don’t know. Probably not.” Lin Siyao’s eyes carried a hint of a smile.

”I completely understand you,” Mu Lingyan looked at him, her gaze suddenly shifting. ”But I think if you want to be worthy of Siyao, at the very least, you should become the number one talent across all four branches of the Demon Suppression Bureau.

”Only then would you truly be a match made in heaven, envied by countless people...

”Of course, that’s far too difficult for you. It’s completely impossible.”

”Mu Lingyan, you’ve crossed the line. Have you forgotten what I said last time, and the promise you made?” Lu Yuan’s face turned cold.

”Hmm?” Lin Siyao looked suspiciously at Lu Yuan and Mu Lingyan. She wondered what was going on.

Mu Lingyan’s expression shifted abruptly, a hint of embarrassment crossing her face. ”That shouldn’t count. I was just giving you a well-intentioned reminder.”

”You call that well-intentioned? So very kind of you, thank you so much,” Lu Yuan sneered.

”I still have things to do, I’ll be taking my leave.” Mu Lingyan departed. Her goal had been achieved, so she could leave now.

”I won’t see you out,” Lu Yuan said, his feet firmly planted. Last time he had given face to the Marquis Mansion, but not this time.

Lin Siyao didn’t see her out either. She looked up at Lu Yuan. ”You two met again later?”

”Yeah.” Lu Yuan briefly recounted his previous trip to Lingjiang Pavilion.

”What? She actually raised a hand against you?” Lin Siyao’s face quickly turned cold, her entire body radiating an icy chill. She thought, ”How hateful. Not only did she try to interfere with my relationship with Brother Yuan, but she even dared to attack him...”

”Next time, I won’t let her step through the doors of the Lin family again. And...” She thought, ”In the future, I will definitely settle this score with her personally!”

”Don’t worry, I didn’t suffer any losses,” Lu Yuan patted Lin Siyao on the shoulder.

Lin Siyao didn’t believe him for a second. She wondered how a Ninth Grade could not suffer a loss against a Seventh Grade, and how a young man from a low-tier family could not be at a disadvantage against a miss from the Marquis Mansion.

Lu Yuan didn’t elaborate further, as his pride had indeed suffered a slight blow.

”Lu Yuan, you’re way too dismissive. I’ve been here this whole time and you haven’t said a single word to me,” Lin Siheng complained indignantly, tilting his head up.
