Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Farming the Brother-in-Law EXP Pack

”First of all, let’s get one thing straight. No crying, and no snitching!”

Lu Yuan set the ground rules. He didn’t want to be chased and scolded by both families later.

”Who’s crying or snitching?” Lin Siheng instantly stiffened his neck. ”Whoever snitches is a puppy!”

”Good, that’s what I wanted to hear. Bring it on.” Lu Yuan chuckled and beckoned with his finger.

”I’ve been waiting for this!” Lin Siheng grew even more excited. He leapt over a meter into the air and threw a fierce punch at Lu Yuan.

BANG!

There was even a faint whistling sound as his fist tore through the air. He had practiced martial arts for two years. If his body wasn’t so small and weak, he would have reached the Ninth Grade or even the Eighth Grade long ago. He had always gone easy on his future brother-in-law before, afraid of scaring him off, but now...

THUD!

Lin Siheng went flying. His mind went blank for a split second. ”How can this be?” he thought in shock. ”I...”

[Congratulations on completing the mission completely unscathed. Due to your outstanding performance, the reward is doubled. 100 Experience Points have been credited.]

Lu Yuan looked at the panel and smiled. ”The rewards can be doubled?” he thought. ”Why didn’t you say so earlier?”

”You...” Lin Siheng scrambled up, clutching his stomach, his little face scrunched up in pain.

”I was careless just now and didn’t dodge!

”That didn’t count! Let’s go again!”

[Your former brother-in-law, Lin Siheng, laughs at your futile efforts, mocking and humiliating you to the fullest extreme for overestimating yourself.]

[Backed against a cliff, you must muster your courage to prove yourself once more.]

[Mission Issued: Punch your former brother-in-law hard once again to prove that you have truly stood up and will not fall easily anymore. Reward: 50 Experience Points.]

”I can grind this repeatedly?” he thought. Lu Yuan paused in surprise, then felt a rush of absolute exhilaration.

”Alright, let’s go again!” he said.

”This time, I’m going to punch your chin!” Lin Siheng provoked him. He needed to build up his momentum, and then...

Execute a feint!

He suddenly lunged toward Lu Yuan’s side, aiming a punch straight at his ribs.

BAM!

Lu Yuan threw a punch of his own. Lin Siheng was sent flying once more, this time even further. He crashed to the ground three or four meters away...

[Congratulations on completing the mission completely unscathed. Due to your outstanding performance, the reward is doubled. 100 Experience Points have been credited.]

Lu Yuan grinned from ear to ear. Two hundred Experience Points were already enough to elevate one of his Martial Arts to the Great Success level. Great Success meant true mastery! He could quickly cultivate True Qi and advance to the Ninth Grade. His combat prowess would double, putting him in a completely different league.

However, he had two Martial Arts.

”Want to go again?” Now, Lu Yuan was taking the initiative. The thrill was starting to get to his head.

”How are you this strong?” Lin Siheng rubbed his stomach as he bounced back to his feet, staring in disbelief. This didn’t make any sense. He knew Lu Yuan well enough; just half a year ago, he had even broken one of Lu Yuan’s ribs. It was impossible for him to improve this much in such a short amount of time.

”I’ve always been going easy on you. Did you really not know?” Lu Yuan curled his lip. Brats were always so blindly confident. No matter how high his Talent was, how much of it could a five-year-old actually bring out? His short limbs and height were massive physical limitations. Meanwhile, Lu Yuan had been practicing martial arts for over a decade. How could he possibly lose to Lin Siheng?

”I don’t believe it! I won’t accept this! Again!” Lin Siheng gritted his teeth. Despite taking two punches, he wasn’t hurt at all. He believed that Lu Yuan had gone easy on him before, but his own strength had skyrocketed over the past six months. He was certain he had surpassed him by now. He had even been holding back intentionally earlier, but to his surprise...

[Your former brother-in-law, Lin Siheng, scoffs at you with another round of mockery, claiming that even if you trained for the rest of your life, you wouldn’t be able to harm a single one of his toes.]

[Your anger surges, and your Unyielding Will fluctuates, but you must suppress it. You cannot actually harm him, or you will expose your trump card.]

[Mission Issued: Purposely expose your weaknesses, feign flying into a rage out of humiliation, and launch a frantic barrage of attacks. Reward: 30 Experience Points per punch.]

”I can combo this? Not bad!” he thought, clenching his fists.

”Alright, I’m going to get serious now.

”I’ll say it one more time: no crying!”

”I won’t cry! Whoever cries is a puppy!” Lin Siheng charged at Lu Yuan, grinding his teeth as he channeled all his strength into his fists.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM BAM!

BAM BAM BAM!

...

[Congratulations on landing a punch. 30 Experience Points have been credited.]

...

[Congratulations on landing a punch. 30 Experience Points have been credited.]

”Stop hitting me! Stop! WAAAH!” Lin Siheng blocked his head with both arms, unable to stop the large teardrops from spilling over. ”I yield! I yield!”

SWISH!

Lu Yuan pulled his fists back and retreated. He glanced at his panel:

[Experience Points: 680]

He was still 320 points short of a thousand. He had originally planned to save up to a thousand. What a pity...

”Why did you stop fighting?”

”Y-you... You have no martial honor! You actually punched me in the eyes!” Lin Siheng cried, lowering his arms to reveal two slightly bruised, black eyes.

”...” Lu Yuan felt a bit awkward. He had gotten a bit carried away just now and hadn’t been paying attention. How did he end up hitting the kid straight in the eyes? It was too obvious.

”Waaah... waaah...” Lin Siheng couldn’t help but rub his eyes.

”Don’t rub them! We agreed on no crying!” Lu Yuan panicked. He quickly stepped forward, grabbing Lin Siheng’s hands and covering his mouth. ”Whoever cries is a puppy!”

”I’b dot cryig, by eyes hudt!” Lin Siheng mumbled stubbornly through the muffled hand.

”It’ll be fine in a bit. You have a special physique anyway, so you heal fast,” Lu Yuan comforted him, slightly loosening his grip. The boy was truly blessed with extraordinary Talent, and his physical recovery rate was astounding.

”If you don’t cry and don’t let our families know, I’ll spar with you again tomorrow!”

”Really?” Lin Siheng’s face lit up with joy, though he felt a tinge of fear when he recalled the beating he had just taken. But as a boy, he had always been brave. How could he be afraid of a little pain? Besides, his body only grew stronger the more he got beaten up.

”Of course. A gentleman’s word is his bond. I, Lu Yuan, never lie!” Lu Yuan puffed out his chest proudly. ”Would I really lie to a little kid like you?”

”Okay, I’ll come back tomorrow morning!” Lin Siheng cheered up and turned around, ready to leave.

”Don’t let your second sister see you!” Lu Yuan hastily reminded him.

”I know!” Lin Siheng waved his hand and scurried off on his short little legs. Their homes were very close—just a few steps out the door. Plus, the little guy usually used a ladder to climb over the wall during the day...

Lu Yuan didn’t dwell on it and quickly looked back at his panel. Without any hesitation, he allocated 167 Experience Points to the Cyan Gang Fist, bringing the Cyan Gang Fist to Great Success in an instant.

WHOOSH!

A strange sense of enlightenment flooded his mind. It contained every intricate cultivation detail regarding the Cyan Gang Fist, fully integrating into his being as if it were deeply engraved into his brain. At the same time, his body underwent a subtle transformation.

SWOOSH SWOOSH!

Lu Yuan immediately began executing the fist techniques, adjusting his stance to digest the new insights. After completing the routine three times, a powerful surge of heat rushed through his body, rapidly condensing into a strand of True Qi.

True Qi Realm!

Martial Arts Ninth Grade!

His panel updated.

[Host: Lu Yuan]

[Age: 40]

[Cultivation: Ninth Grade]

[Martial Arts: Cyan Gang Fist (Great Success 1000/3000), Wind-Breaking Slash (Minor Success 865/1000)]

[Talent: Undying Martial Body, Unyielding Will]

[Experience Points: 513]

After Great Success came Perfection. Only upon reaching Perfection could he condense Gang Qi and break through to the Eighth Grade. However, he still needed another two thousand Experience Points for that, which he clearly lacked. Furthermore, having just developed True Qi, his body needed to be slowly tempered and nourished. It had to grow stronger until it met the physical requirements to withstand Gang Qi.

Therefore...

”Wind-Breaking Slash, add Experience Points!” Lu Yuan allocated another 135 Experience Points to his Wind-Breaking Slash, instantly elevating it to Great Success.

The Wind-Breaking Slash was a saber technique consisting of only seven simple moves. However, the lethality of a weapon far surpassed fighting bare-handed.

SHING!

Lu Yuan drew a long saber from nearby and began practicing the Wind-Breaking Slash.

...

Meanwhile, Lin Siheng climbed over the wall and arrived back home. Just as he descended the ladder, he saw his second sister, Lin Siyao, standing right behind him.

”You...” Lin Siyao froze when she saw Lin Siheng’s face. ”What happened to your eyes?”

”Lu Yuan didn’t hit me! I bumped into something!” Lin Siheng blurted out hastily, instantly selling Lu Yuan out.
