Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Cyan Gang Fist Perfected

”Hey, just a minor breakthrough,” Lu Yuan said modestly. ”But it did help improve our family’s cultivation technique a little.”

”Impressive!” Old Li gave a thumbs-up. ”I heard Chief Lu’s Saber Technique has become noticeably sharper on missions.”

”I didn’t expect a peerless genius to emerge among the junior constables in our Government Office. Truly a cause for celebration. Outstanding. Impressive,” a gruff voice suddenly rang out, carrying a hint of underlying meaning.

Looking up, they saw a burly man with a full beard standing at the entrance of the Government Office. It was unclear when he had arrived. Behind him stood four or five constables in black tunics, all sizing up Lu Yuan with a mix of curiosity and amusement.

”Chief Yangg,” Old Li quickly cupped his hands in greeting.

”Lu Yuan, was it? I have a few useless Ninth Grade subordinates under me. How about you give them some pointers?” Yangg Lian looked at Lu Yuan and chuckled.

Lu Yuan glanced at Yangg Lian and the constables behind him, offering a shy smile. ”Mr. Yangg must be joking. I’m just a nobody. How could I dare instruct my fellow senior constables?”

”Oh, no, you’re a peerless genius,” Yangg Lian immediately shook his head and slowly walked over.

”That’s right, you’re a peerless genius!”

”We heard you had an epiphany and even upgraded a cultivation technique!”

”Much respect! I, Zhong Tao, admire geniuses the most.”

”Be kind and give us some pointers.”

The constables quickly chimed in, following him down the steps.

Old Li’s eyes flickered as he quietly stepped back.

Lu Yuan’s gaze shifted slightly. He wondered, ”What is this Yangg guy trying to do? Is he actually planning to attack me?”

[Where there are people, there is conflict. Today, you came to the Government Office to visit your elderly father, only to encounter his rival deliberately making things difficult. You even keenly sense a hint of hidden killing intent.]

[Quest Issued: Successfully escape and safely leave the Government Office. Reward: 800 Experience Points.]

[Note: Yangg Lian is a Seventh-Grade Martial Artist. Extremely dangerous.]

”As long as I leave, I get the reward?” Lu Yuan thought. He took a serious look at Yangg Lian, then at the other constables. ”Since you all put it that way, I can’t just give you pointers for free, can I? After all, the wisdom of a peerless genius is priceless.”

At these words, the facial muscles of Yangg Lian and his constables twitched.

”What do you want?”

”I have three hundred copper coins.”

”I have half a tael of silver...”

”I have Two Hundred Wen.”

”I have 150 Wen.”

Lu Yuan turned around and walked away. ”It adds up to less than two taels of silver. What a bunch of broke losers,” he muttered, keeping his voice low but just loud enough for them to hear.

”You...”

”Wait!!” Yangg Lian quickly called out to stop him. ”I still have three taels of silver here.”

”Not enough.” Lu Yuan stopped, turned around, and shook his head. ”Five or six people, and you can’t even scrape together five taels of silver... My value as a genius isn’t that low!”

”Kid, I think you’re just asking for a beating!” Zhong Tao couldn’t hold back anymore and lunged forward.

”What are you doing? Stop!” Yangg Lian grabbed his subordinate to hold him back. The kid in front of him wasn’t an ordinary person; he was Lu Ming’s son, and Lu Ming was not someone to be trifled with. If he wanted to suppress the boy, it had to be done officially and legally!

Using his other hand, he pulled a porcelain bottle from his chest pocket. ”There’s a Bone Tempering Pill in here. Is that enough?”

”A Bone Tempering Pill!” Lu Yuan’s eyes instantly lit up. This was a Pill used by Eighth-Grade Martial Artists. He would need it very soon.

”A Bone Tempering Pill is worth a hundred taels of silver. Instructing just one person isn’t enough; you have to instruct three at the same time,” Yangg Lian said, seizing the opportunity to set the price. He couldn’t just hand over the Pill that easily. Besides, as long as they beat Lu Yuan to the ground, there would be no need to give it to him at all.

”As long as they are Ninth Grade, that’s fine,” Lu Yuan smiled and nodded.

”Good!” Yangg Lian was overjoyed. ”You! You! And you!” He quickly pointed out three men, including Zhong Tao. ”You three, go and humbly accept Prodigy Lu’s guidance. Don’t waste this opportunity and don’t embarrass me.”

”Yes, Mr. Yangg.”

”We know what to do.”

The three constables smiled as they quickly surrounded Lu Yuan. Truth be told, if it were just one of them against Lu Yuan, they wouldn’t have been very confident. But three against one... it was a sure thing!

”Oh no, this kid is going to suffer!” Old Li thought as he shrank back indoors and turned his head away. ”I just hope Zhong Tao and the others don’t hit too hard.”

He felt getting a beating was no big deal, but his biggest worry was that Yangg Lian would use this chance to strike a heavy blow and cripple Lu Yuan. If that happened...

”Next, we invite Prodigy Lu to give us your guidance,” Zhong Tao cupped his hands with a sinister grin.

”Nephew Lu, if you can’t handle it, say so early. I’ll make sure they stop in time,” Yangg Lian suddenly acted kindly.

CLANG—

Lu Yuan drew his saber.

Zhong Tao and the other two exchanged a glance.

”Oh my, using a saber isn’t good. If you can’t hold back, you’ll chop off hands and feet,” Yangg Lian said, feigning a look of worry. ”Just chopping off a few fingers is fine, but definitely don’t chop off the whole hand.”

”We know, Mr. Yangg, don’t worry,” Zhong Tao replied with a smile. ”We know our limits...”

SWISH—

SPURT—

Right at that moment, a flash of silver light streaked through the air. Before anyone could clearly see how Lu Yuan made his move, his figure blurred. The silver light flashed again, and then he was standing outside the encirclement of the three constables.

SNAP—

The belts of the three constables severed, and their pants dropped to the ground. At the same time, one of Zhong Tao’s pinky fingers flew off, blood spraying wildly.

”AHHH!” Zhong Tao shrieked in agony. He quickly dropped his saber and clutched his bleeding hand. ”You... you...”

”The instruction is over. Mr. Yangg, the Pill,” Lu Yuan looked at Yangg Lian.

”You...” Yangg Lian’s face darkened, looking somewhat terrifying. He was the only one present who had clearly seen how Lu Yuan executed his move, and therefore, he knew exactly how formidable Lu Yuan was. To be this strong before even turning sixteen... if given a few more years...

He genuinely birthed the urge to cripple Lu Yuan right then and there, but now was not the right time.

”Good Saber Technique! Truly, the student surpasses the master. As expected of Lu Ming’s son!”

”The Pill,” Lu Yuan held out his hand.

Yangg Lian naturally didn’t want to hand it over, but... ”Here.”

”A fair trade, so I won’t say thank you. By the way, those few taels of silver can go toward that brother’s medical expenses.” Lu Yuan smiled generously. ”My saber is fast. If he takes it to the medical pavilion and gets it reattached now, it should still be usable.”

”You...” Zhong Tao glared at Lu Yuan, gnashing his teeth. To actually chop off one of his fingers! Deliberate! It must have been deliberate! Out of the three of them, only his finger was severed...

”Don’t be impulsive!” Yangg Lian held Zhong Tao back. If you can’t beat him, what’s the point of acting tough? Only by taking action personally could he make Lu Yuan stay.

”No need to see me off,” Lu Yuan turned and left with a smile.

”Mr. Yangg!” The others were unwilling to let this go.

”Hurry up and take him to the medical pavilion!” Yangg Lian scolded. ”In broad daylight, right in front of the Government Office—what did you think you were doing? Were you really going to commit murder?”

”Yes!” Two men immediately supported Zhong Tao and hurried him to the medical pavilion.

[Congratulations on completing the quest. The reward of 800 Experience Points has been received.]

”Max out the Cyan Gang Fist!” Lu Yuan immediately decided in his mind.

A flood of insights surged into his head. The Cyan Gang Fist instantly sublimated, reaching a state of flawless perfection where he could execute it effortlessly at will. Perfection meant a state of flawlessness, with no obvious weaknesses left. It could only be broken by overwhelming strength or faster speed.

[Congratulations to the host for reaching Perfection in the Cyan Gang Fist. Reward: 3 points of Bone Aptitude.]
