Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Broken Engagement Counterattack?

The Jade Capital of the Daqian Dynasty.

In a rather quaint courtyard house in East City.

”Brother-in-law, practice martial arts with me! Hurry up and come here! Please!”

A sturdy, energetic little boy, about five or six years old and three feet tall, tugged at a handsome youth with both hands, his feet continuously pushing hard against the ground. Despite his young age, his strength was immense. The cyan bricks beneath his feet vibrated constantly, their edges chipping from the impact, and the gaps between them rapidly widening.

”Aman, stop this. If you keep being so disobedient, I’m going to tell your second sister!”

The handsome youth felt a bit helpless, yet he stood there as steady as a boulder, not moving an inch. Sparring with his future brother-in-law had no benefits whatsoever. Because he couldn’t actually hit the boy, whereas the boy would absolutely go all out against him, completely lacking any sense of restraint. If it were just an ordinary child, it would be fine, but this kid happened to be born with divine strength. A single punch of his packed hundreds of pounds of force. After suffering a few painful lessons, Lu Yuan firmly refused to do it again.

”Brother-in-law, you... you disappoint me too much!

”If you act like this, how can I feel at ease handing my second sister over to you?

”I only agreed to your engagement with my second sister because I hoped you would practice martial arts with me every day in the future. Yet you...

”You’re too useless and too weak!

”Don’t make me look down on you!” Lin Siheng voiced his dissatisfaction.

If his brother-in-law couldn’t practice martial arts with him, then what was the point of having him around? It was the same as not having one at all.

”Childish tricks won’t work on me,” Lu Yuan said, completely unmoved. He was nearly sixteen years old; how could he stoop to bickering with a five-year-old brat?

”Are you sure it won’t work?” Lin Siheng rolled his eyes. ”You don’t actually think you’re some little genius, do you? You don’t think you’re actually amazing, right? You’re fifteen, yet you haven’t mastered a single martial art, and your cultivation hasn’t even entered the standard grades...

”Your aptitude is inferior, and it will be difficult for you to become an expert in the future!

”That’s my father’s evaluation of you!

”Neither my father nor my mother thinks much of you. It’s only because my second sister likes you, coupled with my support, that they agreed to let her get engaged to you...”

”What?” Lu Yuan’s expression drastically changed.

His future father-in-law and mother-in-law looked down on him? He genuinely had no idea about this. How could that be?

The Lu family were natives of the Jade Capital, having laid roots here for hundreds of years. The Lin family, on the other hand, had moved from the southwest eight years ago and happened to settle right next door to the Lu family’s home. To adapt as quickly as possible, the Lin family took the initiative to build a good relationship with the Lu family. Because Lu Yuan and the Lin family’s second daughter, Lin Siyao, were close in age, they frequently played together, and their feelings for each other gradually deepened. They could be considered childhood sweethearts.

Father Lin and Mrs. Lin used to praise him often, saying he was a good person with decent martial arts skills. He never expected...

”You can’t blame them. Your aptitude really is quite poor; you’re fifteen and still haven’t entered the grades. When my eldest sister was fifteen, she was already at the Seventh Grade. I’m only five, and I’m about to reach the Ninth Grade. My second sister just had some minor health issues. As long as her body is conditioned properly, her cultivation will advance rapidly as well...” Lin Siheng spoke matter-of-factly, bearing the unfiltered innocence of a child.

”Fifteen years old and at the Seventh Grade!”

The image of an unparalleled, ethereal white silhouette that looked like a fairy surfaced in Lu Yuan’s mind.

”Fifteen years old and at the Seventh Grade... How is that possible?” But the little munchkin standing right in front of him was living proof. ”Compared to them, I really am no different from a piece of trash.”

”If you don’t agree to practice martial arts with me, then I’m going to start objecting too. I’ll persuade my father and mother to have my second sister break off the engagement!” Lin Siheng let go of Lu Yuan. With one hand on his hip and the other pointing at Lu Yuan, he put on a completely serious expression.

He wasn’t joking! He absolutely was not joking!

Looking at his future brother-in-law, a tremendous surge of anger suddenly welled up in Lu Yuan’s heart, rushing straight to his head.

”I just got engaged three days ago, and you’re already urging for a broken engagement? You little brat...”

SWISH!

Suddenly, a translucent panel appeared before his eyes, and lines of white text gradually emerged.

[At fifteen, you became engaged to Lin Siyao. Feeling the pressure, you trained vigorously.]

[At eighteen, through your unyielding efforts and the support of your family, your cultivation reached the Eighth Grade. You joined the Demon Suppression Bureau, hunting down criminals and exterminating demons every day. Honed through actual combat, you earned the title of Reckless Daredevil.]

[At twenty, your cultivation broke through to the Seventh Grade. Promoted to Squad Leader, you became a role model for your neighbors and the pride of your family, gaining a minor reputation in the Jade Capital;

[You unexpectedly discovered that your fiancée, Lin Siyao’s strength had long surpassed your own.]

[At thirty, restricted by your aptitude, you remained trapped at the Seventh Grade, unable to break through;

[Meanwhile, Lin Siyao soared to the clouds. Her cultivation rapidly reached the Fifth Grade, making her a peerless prodigy renowned throughout the world and attracting the pursuit of outstanding talents from all directions.

[You suffered a massive blow and gradually became decadent.

[Lin Siheng came to your door every day to violently beat you up.]

[At thirty-five, amidst extreme suppression and decadence, you finally attained enlightenment, advancing to the Sixth Grade. Regaining your confidence, you wished to finalize the marriage, only to discover that both the Third Prince and the Seventh Prince of Daqian were pursuing Lin Siyao. You were secretly warned and suppressed.

[Lin Siheng publicly declared that you were nothing but trash—a toad completely unworthy of his second sister.]

[At forty, you were still struggling at the Sixth Grade, attempting to climb the heavens and enter the Celestial Realm.

[Your future father-in-law, Lin Qingfeng, advanced to the Second Grade of the Martial Dao and was conferred the title of Southern Guardian Marquis, shocking the world.

[Lin Siyao also advanced to the Fourth Grade. Her peerless elegance captivated the attention of the entire world.]

[Half a year later, the Lin family came to break off the engagement. Though unwilling, you had no choice but to accept it.

[That night, as you prepared to leave the Jade Capital to make a living in the world, you were attacked by a mysterious masked expert. Your dantian was shattered, your meridians were entirely severed, and your brain suffered severe trauma, causing you to lose most of your memory and martial arts experience...]

In the courtyard, Lu Yuan stared at the words appearing in his mind, completely dumbfounded.

”Is this my life for the next twenty-five years? Despised by my father and mother-in-law, desperately working hard yet still stuck at the Sixth Grade... Having my engagement broken and being crippled at the age of forty? Isn’t that way too miserable? Even if I’m not some favored child of heaven, I’m definitely not a piece of trash. Reaching the Sixth Grade by thirty-five is absolutely not bad at all. But...”

[When Heaven is about to confer a great responsibility upon a man, it first exercises his mind with suffering, subjects his sinews and bones to hard toil, exposes his body to hunger, and subjects him to extreme poverty...]

[Thirty years on the east bank, thirty years on the west. Never mock a man simply for being middle-aged and poor.]

[In life, you can fail, but you must never give up.]

[Broken Engagement Counterattack System loading complete...]

[Novice Gift Pack Distributed: Undying Martial Body and Unyielding Will.]

[Undying Martial Body: Any injury, no matter how severe, can be rapidly healed.]

[Unyielding Will: Under extreme circumstances, you can burst forth with ten times your peak combat power, turning defeat into victory and reversing the tide of battle.]

[Middle-aged man, work hard.]

”Never mock a man for being middle-aged and poor?” Lu Yuan’s mouth twitched. He definitely did not want to still be poor by the time he reached middle age!

Fortunately, a system had arrived.

”So everything before I turn forty is Heaven’s test for me? The key is that I’m only fifteen right now! The system came early! This is an opportunity! An opportunity to become a peerless powerhouse! A chance to cheat fate!”

[Host: Lu Yuan]

[Age: 40 Years Old]

[Cultivation: Unranked (Crippled body has been repaired, memories missing)]

[Martial Arts: Cyan Gang Fist (Minor Mastery 833/1000), Wind-Breaking Slash (Minor Mastery 865/1000)]

[Talent: Undying Martial Body, Unyielding Will]

[Experience Points: 0]

Lu Yuan carefully reviewed his status panel, his body trembling slightly in uncontrollable excitement.

”I’ve waited fifteen years, and the system has finally arrived! If I don’t become a powerhouse, who will? Trash? Getting my engagement broken? That is impossible! It will never happen!”

”Well? Are you going to do it or not?” Lin Siheng was growing impatient. ”If not, I’m going to tell my father and mother right now.”

[Your Martial Dao was crippled, turning you into the laughingstock of the entire Jade Capital. Your former brother-in-law, Lin Siheng, came to your door to inflict utmost humiliation upon you once again.]

[Quest Issued: Muster your courage and punch your former brother-in-law, Lin Siheng, with all your might. Prove that you have not yet fallen. Reward: 50 Experience Points.]

[Note: Lin Siheng’s strength has already reached the Fifth Grade Celestial Human Realm. There is a high probability you will be severely injured by the recoil.]

”I don’t hit children,” Lu Yuan said, lowering his head. ”But I’d be more than happy to spar with my future brother-in-law!”

”Hehe, I knew it!” Lin Siheng immediately grew excited. His scheme had succeeded! ”Hit hard! Use all your strength!”
