Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Prodigy’s Moment, Upgrading the Saber Technique

After dinner, Lu Yuan practiced Martial Arts by the wall. He did some simple stance training to digest his food.

Before long, a beautiful head popped up over the wall.

”Brother Yuan~”

”Siyao,” Lu Yuan looked up with a smile. ”Give me a second.”

He withdrew his stance and leaped up, sitting on top of the wall. ”Come on up and sit with me.”

”Okay.” Lin Siyao climbed up the wall and sat beside him.

”Brother Yuan~~”

[Your ex-fiancée, Lin Siyao, does not seem to have accepted the severance of your relationship. Since she lives next door, she still pays frequent attention to you.]

[Mission Issued: Maintain eye contact with Lin Siyao for ten breaths to display your cold and resolute attitude. Reward: Prodigy Moment (One Hour). In this state, your comprehension will reach the Prodigy Level, allowing you to quickly master powerful Martial Arts Skills.]

Looking at the interface, the corners of Lu Yuan’s mouth curled up. He thought, ”This mission...”

It was too simple. More importantly, the reward was incredibly overpowered.

Prodigy Level. He wondered just how vast the gap was between a true prodigy and himself.

”Siyao, how about we play a game?” Lu Yuan asked.

”What kind of game?” Lin Siyao looked intrigued. What kind of game could they possibly play in such a confined space on top of a wall?

Lu Yuan smiled. ”We maintain eye contact for ten breaths. No blinking, no looking away. The loser gets a punishment.”

”Brother Yuan, what kind of scheming are you up to now?” Lin Siyao acted coy, sensing that his motives weren’t entirely pure.

”What do you mean, scheming? You’re overthinking it. If you last ten breaths, there won’t be any punishment, right? Or do you just not have any confidence in yourself?” Lu Yuan’s lips twitched. He thought, ”She’s letting her stereotypical impressions get the better of her. Am I, Lu Yuan, that kind of person?”

”Alright, bring it on.” Having made up her mind, Lin Siyao looked straight at him.

Lu Yuan met her gaze directly.

One breath.

Two breaths.

Three breaths...

He had to admit, Lin Siyao’s eyes were truly beautiful. They were large, bright, and exceptionally expressive. Ever since they were children, Lu Yuan had been captivated by those eyes at first sight, deciding right then and there to steal her away to be his bride.

Especially now, as she looked at him, her eyes held nothing but his reflection. That feeling...

Lin Siyao’s heart fluttered, and her gaze flickered slightly. Her relationship with Lu Yuan was different now; they had gone from childhood sweethearts to an engaged couple. She could see the fondness and affection in his eyes, and she seemed to understand why he wanted to play this game.

Gradually, her gaze grew more resolute.

Ten breaths!

[Congratulations on completing the mission. The reward, Prodigy Moment, has been credited to your account and can be used at any time.]

”Alright, that’s enough,” Lu Yuan said, withdrawing his gaze. The game was over, and he didn’t dare continue. If he kept looking, he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to resist losing control. Being on top of the wall was far too dangerous right now—his future mother-in-law, Song Yumeng, might be watching from somewhere.

”PHEW.” Lin Siyao let out a long breath, her heart pounding violently in her chest. She had been able to control it at first, but near the end, she almost lost her composure. It was truly astonishing. So this was the power of love.

”I told you it wouldn’t be a problem. That was too easy,” she said.

”Mm.” Lu Yuan reached out one hand to touch Lin Siyao’s cheek. Supporting his weight with his other arm, he looked up at the moon in the sky. ”Siyao, what kind of person do you want to become in the future? What are your plans?”

”Me?” Her mind raced. She had actually thought about this question before. ”In the future, I want to stand at the pinnacle, free and unfettered. I want to travel around with the person I love and see every corner of the world...”

Lu Yuan understood. Standing at the pinnacle meant she wanted to become a powerhouse of the Martial Dao. To be free and unfettered, one first needed formidable strength. This was not a peaceful world; on the contrary, it was plagued by demons and monsters. To be able to go anywhere in the world, one would need to reach at least the Second Grade...

As expected of a member of the Lin Family, a future peerless prodigy.

”Not bad. That’s exactly what I was thinking. It seems we’re on the same wavelength; we’re a perfect match,” he said.

”Of course! Why else would we be together?” Lin Siyao said happily, her eyes filled with longing. ”Brother Yuan, why don’t we make a promise? In the future, we’ll travel the world together and visit every single place.”

”Sure.” Lu Yuan nodded. ”Then I’ll have to cultivate hard and strive to reach the Second Grade as soon as possible.”

”I believe you can do it, Brother Yuan!” Lin Siyao’s eyes curved into smiling crescents as she secretly clenched her fists.

In truth, the Third Grade would be enough. By then, she would likely be at the Second Grade. With the two of them together, they could go anywhere under the heavens.

The two sat on the wall for a little while longer before Lin Siyao headed back. If she stayed any later, Song Yumeng would probably make an appearance. They couldn’t be that inconsiderate.

Lu Yuan, on the other hand, walked to the middle of the courtyard, drew a saber, and began practicing the Wind-Breaking Slash. He applied all of his remaining experience points to it.

[Martial Arts: Cyan Gang Fist (Great Success 1000/3000), Wind-Breaking Slash (Great Success 1378/3000)]

He thought, ”Use Prodigy Moment!” He didn’t hesitate in the slightest.

SWISH.

A peculiar sensation washed over him. In an instant, his mind became ten times clearer, and his powers of observation and perception were magnified by ten, a hundred times over.

WHOOSH, WHOOSH.

Lu Yuan continued to perform the Wind-Breaking Slash. He had already cultivated the Wind-Breaking Slash to Great Success and understood all of its intricacies. Originally, he hadn’t noticed any flaws, but now, it felt entirely different.

Empowered by the ultimate comprehension of the Prodigy Level, he instantly spotted numerous issues. The more he practiced, the more problems he found. This part was wrong; that part was flawed. It shouldn’t be executed like this.

Then how should it be done?

He made immediate adjustments and changes!

Consequently, his Wind-Breaking Slash gradually began to transform. It grew increasingly formidable, becoming more exquisite and flawless with every strike.

”The kid is practicing his Saber Technique...”

Hearing the commotion, Lu Ming walked out. It had been a while since he last checked on Lu Yuan’s Martial Arts and Saber Techniques. As a father to his only son, he had admittedly been somewhat negligent.

Now, listening to the sound of the blade cutting through the air, he instantly noticed something different.

There was Saber Qi!

He thought, ”When did this kid’s Saber Technique reach Great Success?”

Lu Ming was overjoyed. For Lu Yuan to achieve Great Success in a Saber Technique before the age of sixteen was absolutely extraordinary—he was far stronger than Lu Ming had been at that age. Even among all the generations of the Lu Family’s ancestors, such an achievement would be highly ranked. This proved that Lu Yuan had immense potential for the future; reaching the Sixth Grade might not just be a pipe dream after all.

However, he quickly realized that the Saber Qi and the Saber Technique were slightly off; they were somewhat different from the traditional Wind-Breaking Slash.

Why was it so fierce, so incredibly fast?

Lu Ming focused his gaze and was momentarily stunned. It resembled the Wind-Breaking Slash, yet it didn’t. It was far more intricate and vastly more powerful. It felt as though it had been elevated by more than just a single tier.

The crucial point was that, with his level of cultivation and strength, he could tell that Lu Yuan was refining the Saber Technique himself. It wasn’t as if some other expert had improved it and handed it down for him to practice...

He thought, ”Since when did this kid possess such innate talent and comprehension?”

Lu Ming was truly dumbfounded. One had to know that improving Martial Arts was no easy feat. It was something only peerless geniuses could accomplish, and even then, it required a vast amount of time. Otherwise, it would just be blind tinkering—botching the whole thing like drawing a tiger from a cat model but ending up with a dog, ultimately leading to Qi deviation.

The Wind-Breaking Slash was a Martial Art acquired by the Lu Family’s ancestors, and over the years, it had undergone some minor tweaks. But none were substantial, and none ever broke free from the original framework.

Yet now, as Lu Ming watched, the Saber Technique had clearly transcended the boundaries of the Wind-Breaking Slash. It had been elevated by at least two tiers. This was absolutely inconceivable, something entirely beyond imagination.

He thought, ”An epiphany? My son has really made something of himself, actually experiencing an epiphany to upgrade his Saber Technique. Is he riding the high of the engagement? Or did he rub off some of the Lin Family’s Dao resonance? At this rate, Little Yuan reaching the Sixth Grade in the future is a sure thing.”
