System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1412: Report

”Well, the current situation is rather concerning. The future is unpredictable. However, there’s one thing I’m clear on. They will make contact with each other.

”Whether this contact will be peaceful or not, we can only hope for the best.

”However, it doesn’t seem Duke Lorelei has that bad of an impression. Duke Lorelei shouldn’t really tell the princess about them badly.

”Either way, the world is vast, so searching for a new home might not be that bad of an idea.

”Rather than getting too fixated on this problem, I believe it’s better to discuss what actually happened during the trip.

”Phantom actually told me about several spots for this ancient demon. Because it was far from the Muivell Kingdom, there were a lot more ancient demons than I expected.”

”A lot of ancient demons, huh?” Noel furrowed his eyebrows. ”It is indeed concerning. But why would Phantom search for them?”

”It seems to be the council’s idea. They’re trying to locate as many ancient demons as possible, and if the time is right, they’re going to annihilate them. This way, the demon king will have a hard time forming an army.”

”Fair enough. An ancient demon is extremely powerful. Back when we were just a spirit grandmaster, it was hard to stop a single one of them. Even our wall that had been enhanced with runes might not be able to withstand them despite being reinforced by a lot of cores.

”Well, I do get a few more advanced runes, and I’m planning to change the runes on our wall later to make sure they’re able to stand strong, even against an ancient demon.

”Besides, I’m already moving toward the battleship, both in the air and on the water.

”But I’m not entirely sure if this will be enough or not. If the Beast Kingdom is doing their best to lower their number, it will definitely help a lot. However, the demon king is adamant about attacking us, so this action will either cause their plan to slow down or their plan to change.

”Either way, it’s good to kill these ancient demons. Still, looking at the situation, you...”

Anna nodded. ”Yes. Since they wanted to kill these demons, I asked them to let me do it since I was planning to get as much spiritual energy as possible to make it possible to reach the spirit king stage.

”After mentioning your name, Phantom discussed it with the council and they decided to give us their locations.

”While they wanted to kill the ancient demons, no one was aiming to become a spirit king. In fact, it couldn’t really be helped.

”In the past one thousand years, there was only a single human that managed to reach this level, which was your founding ancestor.”

”That’s true. I see. The reason you were so fast this time was their information.”

”Yes.” Anna nodded. ”After getting that information, we visited all those places, but to our surprise, a lot of them went missing.”

”!!!” Noel raised his eyebrows. ”Went missing? What do you mean?”

”Literally.”

Noel soon looked down, contemplating their situation. He soon realized where the conversation was going. ”Are you saying the reason they went missing...”

”Yeah. After hearing that you have crushed the Supreme Devil Organization, both Duke Lorelei and I instantly understood what had happened there.

”It appeared the Supreme Devil Organization moved their headquarters deeper inside the demon territory.

”Then they began to gather as many ancient demons as possible. This should be enough to explain the sudden disappearance of those demons. After all, according to Phantom, she scouted those areas just one or two weeks prior to our arrival.

”With the information still fresh and the result that weird, this was the only explanation.

”This time, the Supreme Devil Organization has been cornered by you and retreated to the depth of the demon territory to gather all the force needed to annihilate humans.

”In other words, the Supreme Devil Organization is now rallying their force seriously. At this rate, I’m afraid that they will come pretty soon.

”You originally predicted it would be 3 to 5 years before their arrival, but I’m afraid we only had 1.5 to 2 years. And one year has passed, so only six to twelve months left.

”If we haven’t finished our defense preparation, we won’t be able to stop them. Do you understand the situation now?”

Noel pinched the bridge of his nose. ”Yes. Maybe I shouldn’t have attacked them...”

”It doesn’t matter. After knowing Laufey is back with us, this will happen. Even if he doesn’t go back, Laufey will die. This is already unavoidable... at least, according to your story.” She shook her head helplessly.

”...” Noel let out a long sigh, wondering what he should do next. Since they didn’t have a lot of time left, they truly had to prepare for real. The expansion might have to be halted so that they could create the original objective of the expansion.

They had to strengthen every single city and create a connection between each city so that they could become a net that would trap all those demons inside this territory.

Still, there was one fortunate occurrence. The fact that he found his king’s path allowed him to somehow keep up with them. If he focused on growing his strength, he might be able to become a spirit king before the invasion.

Meanwhile, Anna might not necessarily reach that stage, considering Noel couldn’t tell her about it to avoid preventing her from further progress.

When Noel thought about it, he said, ”If that’s the case, we have to speed up our progress. Right now, I’m pretty sure that the third princess is going to take the throne after knowing what happened from Duke Lorelei.

”By controlling the palace, we could finally focus on the enemies in front of us. I also have to inform my family about this situation. You should tell your family as well, including your father. The battle for the throne is about to arrive, so he should make his preparations. In the meantime, we’ll be focusing our attention on dealing with the third prince.”

”Understood.”
