ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

Let’s switch the topic for now, shall we? I can’t see the future where my tension will improve with this topic still going on. Only zero and one hundred are the absolute territories that cannot interfere with the Goddess of Random Numbers. That is, the declaration named “determination” is the name of the game here. That’s right, let’s see……

「By the way, how are you when it comes to English, Rei-san? When it comes to me, ten points would make me feel morally conflicted about it, but the achieving the average score seems like a little bit too tall of an order for me at the current moment.」

「T-That’s… right. Oosuka-sensei is…… She’s the one in charge of the questions, so it is probably going to be related to the last composition assignment she got us. It was the same thing last time.」

Oosuka Makiko-sensei…… You may think that she is just a Japanese person whose parents for some odd reason decided to write her name with a Latin alphabet, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Or you see, she is in fact an Actual American who just happened to be named Makiko.

She is the English teacher at our school, and her surname is Oosuka because she married a Japanese man. She is a very morally delicate person, so she has a strange habits of reflecting uneasy topics in the test as soon as she happens onto a topic that makes her feel anxious. “Scams are rampant these days, but what do you think?” Or something like that. Not really something you would want to be dealing with on the final exam, that’s for sure.

In other words, if you follow the curriculum program and think about the sentences in advance from about two weeks before the final test is probably going to be drafted, you can definitely get at least ten points in English, and possibly even more. Yes, some more than that would be greatly appreciated.

It is predicted by the most influential student information network that there will be either the “new drug that is rampant recently” or the “large-scale collision that occurred on the Tohoku highway a week ago” as the topics of longer writing form…… which may sound like something that is fairly unrelated, but when it comes to testing, you can’t even pretend that you don’t know about those things or lie your way around the subject at hand. And when it comes to those two topics, the odds of them actually happening are six to four in ratio. If you’re betting on drugs, what you need for the test is an average hit that definitely scores you some easy points, not a one-shot reversal. That’s the name of the game here.

「But if there is one thing that I do not like about Oosuka-sensei, it’s that she gets easily caught up in the problem statements.」

She seems to be reading those sentences carefully, going over them over and over again. And once she does that, there will always be something that she is not going to like. So our safest bet in here is to actually come up with sentences that won’t be labeled as problematic or TOO problematic.

I have to set up the appropriate chart inside of my head ahead of time…… But first of all, while surely securing those ten points in the current affairs of composition is fairly important……

「Oh, uh, I-I’m preparing for English currently, s-so if you’d like, I-I could teach you as well……」

「Seriously? Thanks, I would really appreciate it.」

That’s our Rei-san for you, nothing is going to get past her.

…

………

……………

「No, no way……」

「Don’t worry, don’t mind that. Some things just require some time to show results. But that being said, how about we get a little snack? It’s nice to get something to eat and sit down for a moment, even if it means having a quick change of pace.」

That’s right, I can see that right about now it around 7 pm. So it’s still the acceptable hour for students to be “active”, but it was drawing dangerously close to the point where it could be said that you are basically fooling around town at night. After leaving the library, Rei and I bought a meat bun at a convenience store on our way home and decided to sit down so that we could eat them in peace.

Honestly, I was curious about the phrase “Shock! ShanFro’s Latest Update Content Fastest Feature!” written on the cover of the game magazine released today. But it was not something as nerve-wracking that it would push me to leave Rei-san on her own while I read some magazine.

「Here you go.」

「Oh, thank you very much……」

It’s getting colder and colder with every passing day, so this kind of buying and eating is an activity that is only going to increase in popularity. If you bite a little bit of the bun, the exposed bean paste heats the air and lets out a trail of smoke—like steam. Hmmm, it looks so lovely that it simply deserves a short poem dedicated to this phenomenon.

In the cold,

Gnawing on a meat bun.

Though it tastes great,

I actually lack money,

Cold weather sucks.

…… What the actual hell, am I getting better at this, or what? Does that mean I have a knack for poetry after all? Man, sometimes the full extent of my own genius is making even myself scared!

Thinking about such a stupid thing, I finished eating my bun and I threw the wrapping paper into the trash can right next to the convenience store…… Suddenly, I remembered something from the scene inside the store, decorated with green and red.

「Thinking about it now, it’s soon going to be Christmas, huh?」

「Nguhyu!!」

Immediately after I happened to mutter that to myself, Rei-san fluttered like wild.

「Goho! Goho!!」

「A-Are you okay, Rei-san!? You want me to go and buy you some water!?」

「F-Fine…… I-I’m fine, really, it’s okay……」

You say that you are fine, but you know what, Rei-san? You don’t look all that good to me! ……However, it seems that Rei-san was indeed telling the truth here, because even though Rei-san seemed a little bit agitated for a moment out there, but now her breathing was starting to gradually calm down and she seemed to have regained her composure.
