Get Stronger by Pleasing Pokémon? Who Needs to Be a Trainer!

November 12

”Congratulations, Host. You have increased Giratina’s happiness from 10 to 30. You will receive 1 Supreme Rare Candy, 3 bags of Supreme Gold Kelp, and 1 Reversal Berry. Special effect: when consumed directly, it turns type disadvantages into resistances and reverses resistances.”

The system notification made Lin Feng rush straight to the cowshed.

An increase of 20 happiness points was the minimum threshold for system rewards.

Normally, raising happiness did not trigger special rewards, but whenever a new Pokémon’s happiness increased, there was a high chance of something extra.

Giratina was clearly one of those cases.

It was just that the Reversal Berry’s effect was… unusual.

…

When Lin Feng arrived at the cowshed and saw that the wine barrel was empty and the chocolate liqueur was gone, he nodded in satisfaction.

It seemed Giratina really liked the chocolate liqueur he had specially made.

Without saying much, he followed the original plan and placed more chocolate liqueur on top of the honey wine barrel.

This time, the amount was slightly less than before.

”Let’s see how long you can resist.”

After setting it down, Lin Feng curled his lips into a smug smile.

Still not entirely satisfied, he left the cowshed and headed to the nursery.

Today was Challenge Day, so the town was bustling with people.

After greeting Eldegoss, Lin Feng stepped outside, planning to check how everyone was doing at the challenge area.

Just as he walked out, a young man in pink and white clothing with a calm, distant expression appeared on the stone path.

Lin Feng’s eyes lit up. ”Mewtwo!”

He hurried down the steps and ran over. ”You’re back!”

”Mew…”

After being alone for nearly a month, Mewtwo felt a little uncomfortable with such a warm welcome.

But a smile quickly appeared at the corner of its lips. ”It seems they have all evolved.”

The ”they” referred to the Pidgeot.

One of them had just flown off for delivery, and another had gone to manage the Sky Challenge.

”Well, you’ve been gone for about twenty days, haven’t you?”

Lin Feng tilted his head and did a quick calculation.

Then he asked with interest, ”So, how’s your Poké Ball research coming along?”

Mewtwo froze.

It clearly remembered not saying anything about researching Poké Balls before leaving.

How did Lin Feng know immediately?

”You were staring at several Luxury Balls that day. Wasn’t that for research?”

”…”

Mewtwo fell silent.

It rarely spoke much.

With a wave of its hand, a black Poké Ball appeared in front of it.

”Can it auto-lock Pokémon? What level can it lock onto?”

Lin Feng’s interest was instantly piqued.

Mewtwo: ”???”

It was even more confused.

It had not mentioned that feature yet.

How did you know?

This was seriously demoralizing.

But after experiencing Lin Feng’s strange foresight multiple times, Mewtwo only showed a slightly complicated expression.

”Yes. It should be able to lock onto Pokémon at the level of Goodra for a long time.”

”I had finished about half of it before, but for some reason I gave up. Later, I felt it was a waste to abandon a half-finished project, so I went back and completed it,” Mewtwo explained.

What it did not say was that the main reason was wanting to see if it would be useful to Lin Feng.

”Wait… it can lock onto a Pokémon like Goodra?”

Lin Feng sucked in a sharp breath.

He had guessed it could lock onto powerful Pokémon, but he did not expect it to be at that level.

Even if Goodra was only elite-class back then, it was still unbelievable.

”That’s incredible.”

Lin Feng looked at Mewtwo with genuine admiration.

”If it’s useful to you, that’s good.”

Mewtwo took out a storage ball and smiled slightly. ”There are quite a few inside.”

Lin Feng accepted it but did not check immediately. Instead, he asked, ”Do you want something to eat? Go ask Hattrem or Gardevoir to make something for you.”

Mewtwo’s smile grew brighter. It nodded and walked toward the nursery.

Lin Feng looked at the storage ball in his hand and shook his head.

To him, this kind of Poké Ball was actually useless.

He did not need to use Poké Balls to store his own Pokémon.

The enthusiasm he showed was simply to give Mewtwo the emotional value it deserved for its hard work.

After all, it had prepared this for a long time just to bring it to him.

If he showed indifference, Mewtwo would definitely be hurt.

Another day of emotional labor.

Lin Feng sighed inwardly, proud of his own emotional intelligence, then glanced at the storage ball again.

Honestly, everything Mewtwo created was useless to him.

But if the market announced a Poké Ball that could unconditionally track and even capture Pokémon below elite level, its popularity would be unimaginable.

Of course, Lin Feng would never sell it.

In his eyes, this Poké Ball had another terrifying function.

It could capture Pokémon that were already stored inside another trainer’s Poké Ball.

It was an extremely overbearing Poké Ball.

”I’ll just keep it. Might be useful someday.”

After a brief thought, Lin Feng strolled toward the challenge area.

He saw a crowd gathered, all looking worriedly at the Pidgeot in the sky, repeatedly challenging it.

”Brother Lin, this is too hard. Can’t you go a little easy on us?”

Someone shouted.

Lin Feng looked up and recognized the person.

It was Luke, his first challenger.

His Pichu had gone through countless battles and finally evolved into Pikachu.

Its strength had increased greatly, but clearing the first stage was still difficult.

Still, he had already received a consolation prize before.

Lin Feng smiled but said nothing.

He turned to the Pidgeot in the sky.

One Pidgeot immediately flew down.

It slightly spread its wings, and a strong, steady wind swept across the entire field.

The meaning was obvious.

The Pidgeot had passed with ease.

The sudden gust stunned everyone.

They did not understand what Lin Feng was trying to do and all looked at him.

Lin Feng still did not explain.

The wind howled on and on.

Finally, someone noticed something wrong.

”Wait, how long has it been since Pidgeot flapped its wings? Why is the wind still going?”

”What is going on?”

Only then did everyone snap out of it, their gazes shifting between Lin Feng, the Pidgeot, and the field.

Under everyone’s shocked stares, Lin Feng slowly spoke.

”Alright. This is the enhanced version of the Sky Challenge. It is separate from the original. You must either dodge Pidgeot’s attacks in the strong wind or launch your own attack in the wind.”

The crowd fell silent.

And then, in the next second, the entire challenge area exploded into noise.
