Chapter 894: Chapter 890: Visiting in Person

Although Xiao Tian still harbored doubts in his heart, seeing Xiang Yiting’s sincere and candid demeanor, coupled with the fact that there were indeed no better options at the moment, if this clue could lead to a more perfect solution, it would undoubtedly be the best outcome.

Thinking of this, Xiao Tian nodded and said, ”Then I’ll thank you in advance!”

...

After finalizing the arrangement to introduce the expert, the two casually found a roadside breakfast shop for a simple meal, and then returned to the hotel to pack their luggage, preparing to head to where the expert was located.

In the taxi, seeing the increasingly remote road, Xiao Tian turned to Xiang Yiting and asked, ”Is the expert you mentioned specialized in antidotes?”

”No!”

Xiang Yiting shook her head in denial, ”To be precise, she’s someone who specializes in chemistry. At our school, there’s a rumor that if she really sets her mind to it, she could silently kill tens of thousands of people without leaving any evidence.”

Xiao Tian knowingly nodded, ”You mean she can create an antidote based on my friend’s situation due to her profound understanding of chemistry?” At this point, Xiao Tian couldn’t help but feel a bit regretful, as purely relying on verbal accounts indeed seemed inadequate.

After all, he wasn’t present on site, and everything he knew was learned through Melinda and Lin Bingxuan’s narration, so there’s no guarantee that significant discrepancies in the actual situation wouldn’t occur.

However, before he could continue thinking, Xiang Yiting scratched her head and replied, ”Actually, I can’t guarantee it either. But among the people I know, she’s the most impressive. If she can’t help, then I really don’t know who else could.”

”Is the expert you mentioned male or female?” Xiao Tian questioned.

Xiang Yiting frowned, ”Does it matter if it’s a man or woman? Isn’t the important thing that they can help you?”

”I don’t mean anything by it, I just want to be mentally prepared,” Xiao Tian explained.

”Well, you’d better be prepared, or you might get startled later!” With that, Xiang Yiting leaned her head back against the seat and closed her eyes to rest.

Having hardly closed her eyes since yesterday until now, she was indeed finding it hard to stay awake.

...

When Xiang Yiting was awakened by the driver’s reminder, she was a bit embarrassed to find herself having unintentionally leaned against Xiao Tian and slept the whole way. Seeing the faint watermark near the spot she leaned, she felt even more awkward.

Xiao Tian didn’t mind this, as he was preoccupied with seeing the expert Xiang Yiting had mentioned who might scare him, so he hurriedly settled the bill and got off the car following Xiang Yiting.

As the driver drove away, Xiao Tian surveyed the surroundings; ahead was a dense forest while around them lay uneven terrain with just one narrow path suitable for a single car.

Seeing the density of the trees before him, Xiao Tian could understand why the driver, without Xiang Yiting’s reminder, intuitively stopped the car here.

Because ahead, it was impossible for a car to continue, if they were to proceed, they would have to walk.

Just as Xiao Tian reached this conclusion, he found Xiang Yiting beside him staring at him wide-eyed and couldn’t help but ask curiously, ”Why are you staring at me like that?”

”Did you... just let the driver leave?” Xiang Yiting asked incredulously.

”No!” Xiao Tian shook his head, ”I just paid him, and then he left on his own.”

”Did you think about how we’re supposed to get back?!” Xiang Yiting was truly at a loss for words, just because she was late in telling him not to rush to settle the bill, they ended up in such a comical situation.

Now things were inconvenient; driving took two to three hours, if they were to walk back, it would be exhausting!

Xiao Tian coughed awkwardly, then said, ”I’ll contact a car to pick us up now, but it seems we’ll have to spend some unnecessary money!”

Xiang Yiting rolled her eyes, thinking that it was all due to his impulsive actions, but knowing that there was no better solution, she resigned herself to this.

Following Xiang Yiting into the dense forest, their footsteps on the dry fallen leaves made a crisp sound, echoing continuously in their ears.

As they progressed, Xiao Tian grew somewhat puzzled; such a desolate place, almost beyond a village or shop, one might even exaggerate saying it’s elevated enough to be called a suburb, could possibly be the residence of an internationally renowned expert?!

However, immediately thinking that if it were as Xiang Yiting said, that the expert capable of scaring him had won multiple international awards, she certainly would not be a person lacking money.

Generally, those who are skilled or geniuses have quirks beyond ordinary people, presumably she is someone who enjoys solitude away from the hustle and bustle.

As if sensing what was on Xiao Tian’s mind, Xiang Yiting said, ”The expert I’m introducing you to is named Adison Claire, a European mixed-blood. It’s said that during an experiment, she suffered an accident causing extensive skin burns.”

”Her face bears terrifying scars, so when you meet her later, don’t inquire about these, nor show a startled expression, or you’ll likely be thrown out!”

Xiao Tian calmly nodded, after hearing Xiang Yiting’s brief introduction, he could roughly speculate that she might be someone very concerned about her appearance.

If that’s the case, later if Adison Claire is adamant in refusing to help, perhaps he could consider exchanging help to restore her appearance.

But then immediately, Xiao Tian cleared these thoughts away, focusing on coping with what’s in front.

Because before meeting Adison Claire, all thoughts were just projections.

Firstly, it’s uncertain whether she can truly resolve Ghost Face’s crisis, and secondly, he couldn’t be sure he could restore her appearance, so acting according to the situation was still better!

Soon after, they passed through the dense forest, and a building, resembling a western-style manor, spanning approximately five hundred square meters appeared before them.

The manor’s grand entrance had chains hanging almost ornamentally, the bell had been weathered into a rusty state due to lack of use over time.

Furthermore, judging by the leaves in the yard and the cobwebs at the corners of the roof’s walls, this manor presumably lacked regular cleaning, leaving one wondering how Adison Claire lived peacefully in such an environment.

Stopping simultaneously, Xiao Tian and Xiang Yiting, after halting and observing the somewhat desolate and dilapidated manor, felt a sense of poignancy.

After a long silence, Xiao Tian turned to ask, ”How did you come to know Adison Claire?”

Before meeting someone, familiarizing oneself with as much information about them as possible has always been Xiao Tian’s habit.

Although it’s still unclear whether Adison Claire can be of help to him, Xiao Tian regardless resolved to be prepared, aiming to optimistically assume the best in an unknown situation.

Xiang Yiting remained silent, her gaze distant, seemingly lost in memories...
