Chapter 885: Chapter 881: A Kind Reminder

This situation instantly made Xiao Tian understand what the red dots were, and his satisfaction with the hotel dropped significantly.

With a change of thought, Xiao Tian remembered Xiang Yiting, the student studying abroad in Japan who checked in with him, and considered that her room might also have similar equipment.

Based on the fellow Huaxia People’s bond and her inherent kindness, Xiao Tian felt it necessary to warn her.

Thinking this, Xiao Tian walked to the bedside and picked up the phone, dialing the hotel’s front desk number left beside it.

”Hello, is there anything you need?”

A sweet female voice came from the other side, to which Xiao Tian directly responded, ”Please connect me to Miss Xiang in room 312.”

...

Meanwhile, Xiang Yiting was lying spread out on the bed, recalling her recent experiences, feeling waves of exhaustion overtake her.

Nonetheless, she forced herself to get up from the bed; despite it being the middle of the night, her long-standing habit of showering before sleep needed to be fulfilled, or else she’d feel something was missing.

Just as she was getting up, ready to head to the room’s private bathroom, the bedside phone rang.

Her brow furrowing, Xiang Yiting was filled with suspicion—who would call at this hour?

Thinking it likely a routine inquiry from the front desk about needing services, she picked up the receiver and quickly put it back down.

She shook her head and continued towards the bathroom.

On the other end, Xiao Tian, about to say something, heard the busy tone beep, found it odd.

Logically speaking, if Xiang Yiting were busy or washing up, the phone shouldn’t have been answered.

But after answering, it was quickly hung up, leading one to suspect whether something had happened.

However, after Xiao Tian had the front desk transfer the call again, this time no one answered.

This odd feeling prompted Xiao Tian to step out of his room and head towards Xiang Yiting’s room 312.

Since Xiao Tian’s room was 213, at the far end of the second floor, he had to go upstairs to reach where Xiang Yiting was.

As he reached the stairway corner to turn around, his shoulder was suddenly patted, the hand staying in place, without any intention of leaving.

Xiao Tian revealed a subtle expression of displeasure, then slightly turned his face, catching sight of a bony hand, like skin stretched over skeletal remains.

”Young man, do you live at the innermost part of this floor?”

He turned at the sound, seeing an elderly woman with white hair, leaning on a cane. Her teeth all gone, eye sockets deep under the dim hallway light, particularly eerie.

Despite wondering why he was stopped, Xiao Tian nodded, ”Is there something you need?”

”I just wanted to remind you that it’s best not to wander outside at night.”

This suggestion made Xiao Tian realize she had something to say to him, but he didn’t want to waste time, so he replied, ”Okay, I understand!”

These few words blocked the woman’s attempt to continue, and she didn’t expect Xiao Tian to respond like that.

Seeing Xiao Tian about to continue upstairs, the elderly woman quickly asked, ”Don’t you want to know why I say this?”

”Sorry, I’m busy right now, maybe another day?” Leaving this behind, Xiao Tian rushed up to the third floor without waiting for her to respond.

Confirming the room number, Xiao Tian gently knocked on the door, waiting for Xiang Yiting to react.

Inside, as Xiang Yiting was drawing water into the bathtub, the knock startled her for no reason.

Recalling the phone call earlier, now paired with knocks on the door, Xiang Yiting couldn’t help but grow wary.

”Knock knock!”

As the second knock sounded, she picked up a broom in one hand and slowly approached the door, asking, ”Who is it?!”

”It’s me!” hearing the response, Xiao Tian dropped his hand that was ready to knock again.

Shortly after, Xiao Tian heard faint sounds at the wooden door, estimating the person inside was peering through the peephole, he stepped back for a clearer view.

Indeed, a moment later the door opened, though Xiang Yiting only showed her head peeking at Xiao Tian, leaving the door closed.

”It’s quite late, aren’t you asleep?”

Xiao Tian explained, ”I just had the front desk transfer your room call, but it quickly disconnected, so I came to see if something happened.”

Upon hearing this, Xiang Yiting blushed slightly, replying in a low voice, ”I thought it was a nuisance call, so I didn’t pick up, sorry for troubling you to come over.”

After, without waiting for Xiao Tian to speak, Xiang Yiting seemed to recall something, ”Oh right, you called, was there something to discuss?”

”I just wanted to remind you, if possible, it’s best not to shower here.” With this, Xiao Tian explained everything he discovered in his room to Xiang Yiting.

After hearing Xiao Tian, Xiang Yiting clearly was a bit frightened.

She didn’t doubt the truth of Xiao Tian’s words, as lies like this wouldn’t benefit him.

Yet, thinking about this made Xiang Yiting uncomfortable; with Xiao Tian’s warning, she decided against showering tonight, but not showering was distressing.

In that moment, Xiang Yiting felt overwhelmingly conflicted, yet didn’t dare risk such a chance.

Observing Xiang Yiting’s strange expression, Xiao Tian remarked, ”If you don’t mind, I can help check if there’s anything and take it down if needed.”

”That, that wouldn’t be appropriate, would it?!” Xiang Yiting hesitantly responded.

The gesture was declined, but Xiao Tian wasn’t surprised, knowing the late-night situation of a man and woman alone could lead to misunderstandings.

Considering, Xiao Tian simply stated, ”I’ll head back, you should get rest soon!”

Without more, Xiao Tian turned to leave.

Xiang Yiting, partly hidden behind the door, with only her head visible, watched Xiao Tian walk away, her conflict and discomfort growing clearer.

On one hand, just as Xiao Tian guessed, having a man enter the room late at night incited instinctual resistance.

But thinking again, if not warned by him and the bathroom concealed a camera, the resulting lifetime of regret would be unimaginable!
