Chapter 886: Chapter 882: The Old Woman Blocking the Path

In fact, given Xiang Yiting’s tradition and conservatism, if the video were to be made public, overwhelmed with grief and anger, even if she could endure such intense emotional fluctuations herself, she would certainly choose suicide to end the pain.

Understanding this, Xiang Yiting felt it didn’t matter whether she bathed or not, but her heart was filled with a sense of guilt toward Xiao Tian.

The other party came with good intentions to help, yet she rejected him at the door; it was hard to justify.

However, when Xiang Yiting wanted to call Xiao Tian back to explain her true intention, she found the corridor empty, with no trace of anyone.

Frowning, Xiang Yiting closed the door, thinking to explain clearly to him face to face tomorrow and thank him.

With Xiao Tian’s reminder, as Xiang Yiting entered the bathroom again, she couldn’t help but become overly cautious, thinking every corner seemed to have surveillance, growing extremely irritable inside.

This anxiety drove Xiang Yiting to slap the switch hard, then collapse onto the bed, her fists pounding the soft mattress, venting her agitation and displeasure.

For her, it was destined to be a sleepless night...

...

On the other side, Xiao Tian, reaching the corner, intended to return to his room to study his findings from the day.

The mass of pure energy seemingly capable of nurturing everything, along with the seven pearls near the Confucian Spring, were indeed bountiful gains for him, making the venture worthwhile!

Yet as he stepped onto the second floor and turned, his shoulder was gently patted by someone once more.

Xiao Tian glanced sideways, seeing the gnarled, wrinkled hand resembling crumpled waste paper; without turning, he knew who it was.

Indeed, as he turned around, unsurprisingly, there stood the elderly woman he had just seen.

”Young man, I’ve thought it over and still believe I should tell you, the room you’re in is quite unusual.”

Xiao Tian was amazed; he had just cautioned Xiang Yiting, and now an elderly woman was warning him. What a coincidence!

But after confirming Xiang Yiting was safe, not really falling into trouble, Xiao Tian felt relieved and slightly intrigued by the old woman’s words.

As for whether Xiang Yiting herself would heed the advice, that wasn’t Xiao Tian’s concern.

He had already spoken, whether she chose to listen or disregard was her own matter, and Xiao Tian wouldn’t feel affected either way.

It was the elderly woman finding him twice that piqued Xiao Tian’s interest.

Though being awake at midnight keeping watch here was too coincidental, Xiao Tian decided it wouldn’t hurt to listen.

”What do you want to say?” Xiao Tian asked.

Xiao Tian’s voice made the old woman chuckle lightly, but the smile seemed eerie no matter how he looked at it. Then she asked, ”You’re not a local, are you?”

”I’m from Huaxia!” Xiao Tian nodded frankly and answered.

”In Japan, we have a long-standing tale: when staying at an inn or hotel, never choose the room at the end of the corridor!” the old woman said with an air of mystery.

This was surprising, and Xiao Tian curiously asked, ”Why not the room at the end, is it more expensive?”

The old woman shook her head seriously, saying, ”Because evil often lurks in the darkness, and those vengeful spirits come forth, usually choosing the innermost room.”

While saying this, Lao Ou’s recessed eyes seemed to glow eerily, under the conditions of dim lighting and night-time, it might truly spook someone of weaker psyche.

But Xiao Tian’s psychological resilience was evidently much stronger than average. Hearing the old woman’s words, he began to suspect her motives.

If it was really just a kind reminder, Xiao Tian instinctively found it unlikely, as he perceived no goodwill from Lao Ou’s eyes.

Of course, lack of goodwill doesn’t necessarily mean malice.

This is why Xiao Tian couldn’t draw conclusions, unsure of the old woman’s attitude, making speculation difficult without direction to derive results.

Next moment, as Xiao Tian’s mind was indecisive, he heard a rustling sound behind him.

Alarming him, Xiao Tian immediately amplified his hearing substantially to identify the source precisely.

Capturing the sound from the room next door, Xiao Tian quietly extended his Perception Power and swiftly pinpointed the target.

Feedback from the perception indicated that the source was an elderly man, similar in age to the old woman before him, cautiously performing some actions.

Just as Xiao Tian was about to derive more useful information from the feedback, the old woman suddenly pointed, trembling and said, ”Look!”

Simultaneously, in Xiao Tian’s perception, the elderly man, similar in age to the woman before him, suddenly made a big move.

Xiao Tian followed the old woman’s direction and turned around, seeing a glass cup suspended mid-air in the corridor, wobbling back and forth.

Coldly sneering inside, Xiao Tian roughly grasped the elderly woman’s purpose for seeking him.

In fact, Xiao Tian immediately spotted the trick played on the glass cup, and considering the eerie tale told by the elderly woman, the elder hidden in the shadows similar in age to her, the suspended glass cup in mid-air, combined, the answer was evident...

Next moment, Xiao Tian suddenly exhibited a terrified expression, mouth agape, speechlessly scared, his legs trembling markedly in panic.

”This this this...”

After a while, Xiao Tian, trembling in voice, stammered unable to speak coherently, his legs quivering even more.

And the old woman awaited this moment; seeing the timing right, she promptly shielded Xiao Tian behind her, sternly shouting, ”Who dares to be impudent before me, you won’t leave now that you’ve come!”

Then, she muttered a series of strange syllables.

The old woman’s voice was not loud, just enough for Xiao Tian to hear yet impossible to discern what she was chanting.

Moments later, the old woman suddenly roared, eyes wide open, as water from her forehead suddenly sprinkled onto her face, at an angle Xiao Tian couldn’t see.

Simultaneously, the trembling glass cup in mid-air abruptly shattered, scattering shards across the corridor.

After completing this, the old woman grabbed Xiao Tian and moved to the stair’s corner, her wet face marked with gravity, seriously stating, ”Luckily, it didn’t escalate, otherwise I might not be a match!”
