Chapter 142: Snail Emissary

An emerald green blotted out the sun and sky. The Seven Rings Snail Emissary crawled at full speed for three hours before finally climbing to the defensive barrier edge at the top of these vast treetops of the life trees at last.

There was an indescribable shock!

Without seeing it with his own eyes, Glenn had simply been unable to imagine a life form to actually, truly be capable of resembling the kind of earth-shattering descriptions in books. Grand and imposing—it surprisingly looked that way. Even its sides were impressive.

Maybe…

For a living thing to have a tremendous body length in this way, they fundamentally also would just become a subset of world rules.

Even though they had no other choice but to see through densely packed emerald green leaves that were the size of a palm in a mosaic-like pattern, numerous simple and unadorned yet massive tree trunks with dark brown bark were visibly spread out. Upon the cracks and cliffs of the tree trunks were filled with castles and buildings. And from Glenn’s direct observation he was informed that these life trees very likely had the tree trunk diameter being over three-to-four kilometers wide.

Countless flying sorcery tools, balloon airships, transparent bubbles, and immense birds revolved all around the life trees. They congregated to the trees as well as also scattered, rising and falling.

The sorcerer-apprentices on top of the snail emissary opened their eyes wide, one after another, to stare downwards to all that was beneath the defensive barrier.

For this kind of singularly majestic and magnificent scenery, the average person really absolutely would be incapable of imagining.

At this very moment, the snail emissary at once seemed to coast above the giant bubbles enveloping the life trees, overlooking the entire landscape beneath them.

Beneath the shadows that hid the sky and covered the earth of the life trees there were numerous snow white castles arranged close together and neatly. Between the castles, there were rivers, clear springs, plant cover, and alleys serving as partitions. Every castle seemed like their own independent existence yet also possessed a kind of strange feeling of combining together into an integral whole. They extended until the limits of one’s field of view.

Peranos pointed out the speck of what seemed to be like a tiny and average castle at the roots of a life tree. He informed, “These areas are places of residence for first-class demon-hunting sorcerers; in the future, you can just live in these places. The Seven Rings Holy Tower stipulates that it is compulsory for level-one demon-hunting sorcerers to carry out a world battle assignment at least once every two hundred years. If not, they would lose the status as a demon hunter.”

Glenn nodded his head and carefully asked, “Those castles on the trunks of the life trees. They are all level-two and level-three demon-hunting sorcerer residences?”

“No. It’s, of course, the dwelling places of level-two demon hunters. The level-three demon-hunting sorcerers all reside inside the Seven Rings Holy Tower,” Peranos replied.

Glenn inhaled sharply through his teeth. He just recalled that he still has yet to see the Seven Rings Holy Tower. On account of these life trees, he actually forgot the genuine purpose he came here for. It seemed that he truly was experiencing shock by the current environment.

“Master, then the Seven Rings Holy Tower…”

Peranos interrupted Glenn midspeech. “Wait and you will know. Glenn, take advantage of the tops of the life trees not currently obstructing our line of sight yet. You take a look at these first-class demon-hunting sorcerers’ castle composition. Are you capable of calling something to mind?”

‘Calling something to mind?’

Glenn did not willfully give a reply and rather carefully examined these castles, trying to discover something not obvious. Could it be that these castles all had the capability of flight? Maybe it was an illusion—a misperception that really did not actually exist? Or possibly…

Until the densely packed leaves of the life trees thoroughly obstructed Glenn’s view of the dwellings, Glenn still stared blankly with both eyes. Accordingly, he turned toward his academic advisor Peranos in puzzlement.

Shaking his head, Peranos said, “In those years I did not get the qualifications to be a demon-hunting sorcerer. However, when I became an official sorcerer and came here for the first time, I discovered a certain secret after catching sight of these castles.”

After a trace of a smug expression surface, Peranos continued, “Don’t tell me you don’t feel it? That each and every one of these castles is just like an isolated magic rune within a six-pointed star magic array?”

‘What?!

‘This was… ‘

Glenn looked at Peranos in amazement.

For the castles to conduct magic to the underlying rune. For several hundred-thousands up to millions of resident demon-hunters acting as the base power source. For six sorcerer towers acting as energy node for this transcendentally enormous magical array?

This kind of boldness—This kind of flashy style… Was this truly the disparity of “heaven and earth” between necromancy sorcerers’ and sorcerer-apprentices’ cognitive ability?

For what use was there to assemble this magic array of horrific capabilities?

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

Under the snail emissary’s top-speed crawl, they broke through the defensive barrier’s viewable angle and, suddenly, six light pillars appeared before Glenn’s view and soared straight through the peaks of the life trees.

“Wow!”

“Mm! Magic element with good purity…”

A voice cried out in surprise from the sorcerer-apprentice right beside Glenn. Glenn looked at those six energy light pillars that appeared suddenly and rushed straight up to the skies just like that. The thick and dense clouds were also stirred into the shapes of six immense vortexes on account of these six energy light beams.

Every one of these light pillars of energy was all no less than several ten-meters-wide and were accompanied by a “rumble, rumble, rumbling” sound. It was a hexagonal prism a kilometer in diameter with a huge metal box located between the energy pillars that moved up and down. It went up until the unknown space above the thick cloud layers while the bottom disappeared beneath the dense treetops of the life trees.

“That is the core of the Seven Rings, located in the position of the Seven Rings Tower. It is equivalent to the heart of the human race, transporting blood.” Peranos pointed at the metal box between six light pillars of energy and explained.

Seven Rings’ Core!

As Glenn got closer to the energy pillars, he unexpectedly became aware of something. Bionna and Mina both putting to use their gifts afterward had their hair stand vertically like a squall incessantly blowing from below their bodies from a surge of magic power because of some unique reason.

However, after Glenn obtained their gifts, he did not have that same response no matter how he put the gifts to use.

Yet, at this very moment, Glenn suddenly felt this kind of difficult to describe sensation. Not only Glenn but all the sorcerers and sorcerer-apprentices present all had their robes and hair begin to tremble slightly.

“Master…”

Glenn did not even start speaking but Peranos right away knew what Glenn wanted to ask. He indifferently said, “This is energy that distorts the magnetic field because certain energies are not balanced and bring about a chaotic phenomenon. Bear in mind that as far as sorcerers are concerned, this type of phenomenon just represents magic power and energy that isn’t contained. It is a phenomenon sorcerers make a supreme effort to avoid.”

Glenn nodded. In the wake of the snail emissary getting closer and closer to the six light pillars, the robe he wore and his hair also gradually completely exploded and stood up vertically.

‘What?’

Glenn suddenly found that on the other side of the Seven Rings Holy Tower defensive barrier, to his surprise, also had a snail emissary crawling out with the same passengers on top of several sorcerer-apprentices with halos on top of their heads in addition to their accompanying teachers.

Only the snail emissary absolutely did not wait for the opinion of the core of the Seven Ring and just directly forced itself inside one of the energy beams, subsequently disappearing in a flash.

“Everyone take note. Quickly going to the energy levering point, every teacher please protect your disciple next to you well.” At this time, the snail emissary beneath them unexpectedly turned its head in front of its hard shell, facing everyone and speaking this line.

Peranos indifferently said to Glenn, “You’re not an elemental sorcerer but also a lianti sorcerer. In a moment, temporarily losing control of your magic should be of little significance to you. Just stand properly.”

“Oh,” Glenn somewhat nervously replied.

A moment later, Glenn abruptly felt space-time start to distort strangely. Following the snail emissary entering the light pillar of energy, Glenn just felt he was short a chunk in a flash, like being pushed down to a flat dough. In the midst of panic, Glenn once again surveyed the other people. Those sorcerer-apprentices actually all became distorted like flatbread. Yet those sorcerers appeared not to wonder at the strange sight and used every kind of method to protect the disciple at their side.

Whoosh!

The thick clouds on top of their heads only needed a few breathes effort to past through them. And then it was just like the whole sky’s blood-colored rays of light came in, filling Glenn’s vision as he clenched his teeth and endured the immense oppressive power.

‘Blood moon?!

‘One, two, three, four, five, six, seven blood moons?

‘No!’

Following Glenn’s hard to describe rapid take-off straight upwards, Glenn suddenly found that in an extremely distant area there was a blood moon above the clouds slowly floating over…

This blood-colored “moon” had the bottom side be a standard half sphere. Blood-colored metal emitted a cold, sinister, and solid luster. Even though it cannot be seen with the greatest clarity because of the excessive distance, the sizes varied but the smallest blood moon must be ten-thousand meters or more in diameter.

What’s the concept of ten-thousand meters in diameter?

That was precisely the elevation from the sorcerer world’s surface to reach the cloud banks. The height of life trees!

And on these blood-colored moons was actually an enormous platform. At the center of this platform, an analogous sorcerer tower structure stood tall and surrounding the platform, countless tiny black dots can be faintly seen to be incessantly moving.

This was… precisely the sorcerer world’s space fortress?

Whoosh!

Glenn flew rapidly upwards at great speeds and the distance gradually increased from those blood-colored moons. Numerous space fortresses gradually appeared in Glenn’s view and once again shrink into a blood-colored moon which sat quietly above the thick cloud layer.

Kacha!

The halo atop Glenn’s head suddenly made a clear sound, transforming into a transparent sorcerer barrier to protect Glenn in all directions. When Glenn turned around to see, all the sorcerer-apprentices around him actually were this way. Apparently this halo, in addition to what Master Peranos spoke about before, had the function of disregarding biological level might pressure and keep it out. It was exactly a single-use protection from the sorcerer world’s will.

Sorcerer world’s nothingness space’s top-most layer, because the six light beams of energy agitated the water screen heavens, a gigantic maelstrom emerged. The majestic sounds of the sea waves slapping submerged reef in an imposing manner spread.

At this moment, within Glenn’s vision and thoughts, he felt like it was if he dropped from a high altitude head first towards the earth, falling into an ocean whirlpool.

Only, Glenn’s rational line of thought nevertheless told himself that this was an illusion.

Incomparably strange and weird. Within the light pillar of energy, Glenn entered the blossom before his eyes in a split second of the water screen’s heavenly whirlpool. Right away, he arrived at the dusky sky of a world without light.

At the same time, the feeling of his body feeling like it was pressed into a pancake disappeared.

“Hm…” The other sorcerer-apprentices that had various kinds of indisposed symptoms were placated by the teachers at their sides.

Although there was nothing out of sorts with Glenn, he merely foolishly stood at this very moment, similarly shaken.

Glenn viewed the horizon in front of him, where a dark-brown colored gigantic tower that was who-knows-how-many several thousand—several ten-thousand—meters tall stood at the center of this world. A description of it being able to support both heaven and earth was suitable, however!

A hard to describe feeling of oppression came head-on!

Within the dusky sky, a spherical cloud formed completely from magic twisted and whirled, covering any place that Glenn’s field of view can reach. Below are thousands of spaceships moored in picturesque disorder.

“How was it? The feeling of traveling by the destiny lever just a second ago?” Peranos abruptly spoke up.

“At what time did I travel?” Glenn asked in stupefaction.

Peranos stared blankly for a bit. He pointed at the vortex in the dusky sky above their heads and said, “Right at the split second we penetrated the water screen heavens to enter the void world, ah. And also, when all is said and done, this world splinter is just attached to the surroundings of the sorcerer world. Twisting space-time to come over also merely only takes a second. In this way, a rift can be constantly maintained between the two worlds of earth and space. Forget about it. Later on, when you have a campaign in an otherworld, you will get it.”

Pop, pop, pop!

The numerous single-use sorcerer barriers of the sorcerer-apprentices on top of the snail emissary shattered one after another.
