A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 140: Three Great Lianti Sorcerers

Glenn and Cameron’s spar was carried out in a desolate wilderness.

The ground was spread with smooth pebbles which were somewhat uncomfortable to stand on. Peranos and Wutong both observed from further away on the lawn, while Barbara was behind them, protected.

Wutong was shocked. “More than sixty-three thousand points? Compared to Quiet Spring back then, this Glenn has ten-thousand more points?”

“This disciple of mine is ordinary and does not have any past achievements at all, but he entirely surpasses Quiet Spring of the past in terms of patience,” Peranos said proudly.

Hmph!

Wutong ferociously glared at Peranos. He knew that he had been fooled this time by this senior brother of his, his Seven-Flavored Fruit Trees swindled away.

In addition to the plane fish from before, colored glass resin and several delicacies he had collected were all swindled away by his detestable third senior-brother. Wutong immediately felt his teeth keenly ache from regret. In the future, he must…

“Daddy is the most awesome!” Barbara shouted with her tiny mouth as she pulled at Peranos’s robe.

…

Underneath the Ashen Mask, Glenn was staring at Cameron who was facing him with standard etiquette, astonished. Apparently, this was some kind of customary etiquette for Bright Sorcerers. Could it be possible that all Bright Sorcerers first acted with propriety, and then ‘compared notes’?

Moreover, the phrase ‘to learn from one another’ was practically nonexistent in the Dark Sorcerer faction—Dark Sorcerers only fought.

That being the case, Glenn managed to understand a little about it after Peranos explained what “comparing notes” was about to him.

Glenn studied Cameron’s posture before rigidly and not quite proficiently imitating his stance. He truly desired to get started and quickly finish this so-called spar, but Cameron abruptly yelled, “In that case, we’ll first use thirty breaths to prepare, so it’ll be relatively fair for you elemental sorcerers.”

For a split second, Glenn believed that he had actually misheard—there still needed to be a preparation period?

Slightly drawing back the surging of his magic power with difficulty, Glenn faintly gasped a “yeah” underneath his mask.

It seemed that… the bright sorcerer faction’s rules and regulations were indeed substantially different from the dark sorcerer faction!

*ROAR!*

The ‘small insect’ inside Cameron’s ears bore out before transforming into a wyvern with a six-meter wingspan in a blink of an eye. Its whole body was covered in icy scales and from its two nostrils snorted out pungent smoke. Cameron hopped on the wyvern, slowly taking out a pike from behind his back as a dense, purple-gray, corrosive breath filled the air.

The wyvern unfolded its two wings and took off to the sky, its pair of calmly cold eyes firmly locking onto Glenn as wild winds spread in the wake of its flapping wings.

Cameron and the wyvern beneath him seemed to appear connected in mind. They seemed completely intent on swooping down from the sky, and were apparently only waiting for the thirty breaths to pass before they went all out to attack Glenn.

This… was pretty much the so-called “grandeur” among bright sorcerers.

Hm?

On the other side, Glenn appeared pensive as he gazed at Cameron and the abyssal wyvern underneath him who had seemed to combine into a single entity in a split second.

Was this the most fundamental fighting method of subterranean lianti sorcerers, where sorcerer and wyverns perfectly coordinated?

Glenn got caught up in a brief moment of ponderous recollection. According to written accounts, subterranean lianti sorcerers’ methods when following a path based on increasing strength were different and were also divided into several distinct types of lianti sorcerers. There were three kinds included amongst the most well-known, separated into wild instinct lianti sorcerers, physically capable ougi lianti sorcerers, and elemental surge lianti sorcerers.

The separate paths these three kinds of different lianti sorcerers walked were incomprehensible roads of lianti sorcerers to sorcerers. Furthermore, they mutually should not be combined.

Wild instinct lianti sorcerers emphasized learning through experience and battles.

It was said that these were the kind that was capable of arousing some deep-seated instinct’s miraculous ability from life to come out and not only that. Following the wild instinct climbing to a high level, as soon as it was surpassed they were capable of fully arousing some instinctual fighting method that was part of one’s own unique life. At that same time, as far as one’s own power was concerned, a deeper and perfect utilization may be attained.

During the time period as a low-level sorcerer, wild instinct lianti sorcerers were perhaps the weakest amongst the three great lianti sorcerer types; however, once they arrived at the advanced sorcerer phase—among lianti sorcerers—they would turn into the most terrifying existence instead.

It was on account of wild instinct sorcerers gradually improving their wild instinct levels that not only was it possible to be able to gradually incrementally increase battle instincts, the active supplementary addition would also scale and perfectly evolve with their power. It was unlikely to decrease due to increasing their constitutions.

Physically capable ougi lianti sorcerers focused on willpower.

It was said within the subterranean world’s abyss school that sorcerers already discovered that as human constitution gradually strengthened, humanity would also gradually be able to become individual organisms that possessed the ability to influence world laws just like those otherworld life forms with powerful constitutions. It was precisely according to this theory that one kind of unconventional sorcery known as com-battle sorcery came to be.

This kind of sorcery was entirely based on those otherworld powerful beings and carried out by calculated imitations and so had very many schools as a result.

Therefore, sorcerers would constantly develop the endurance of their body and will in the wake of relying on their willpower to unceasingly practice these com-battle sorceries. They may gradually be able to develop the ability of some otherworld powerful creature and even grasp similar blood sorceries that had the ability to transform the body. It was also a kind of matchlessly powerful lianti sorcerer.

In addition…

The most remarkable point was that a few of the most formidable legendary knights were all from the pinnacle that walked along this path.

However, if one practiced com-battle sorcery, the calculated increase in constitution was on the basis of accumulated progress. During the period of time as a low-level sorcerer, they perhaps can a considerable advantage. After becoming an advanced sorcerer, on the contrary, they would be able to land in some kind of feeble and tired state owing to the hard to practice com-battle sorcery.

Finally, there are the elemental surge lianti sorcerers that rely on exploiting knowledge of conventional elements.

This kind of lianti sorcerer, even if district schools also had “semi-finished products,” would only require the opportunity to mature after heading to the hunting dragon abyss to catch and hunt a wyvern. It may even be immediately possible to transform into a genuine elemental surge lianti sorcerer.

For example, Gade who was killed by Glenn. And for another, the quick-witted Ice Soul Bethany. Even Chris York who had passed away. To strictly sum up, all of them can be considered the semi-finished products of elemental surge lianti sorcerers.

Of course, Glenn could also be considered included among them, but it was just that his growth was even more unconventional, the reason being that it was very rare for a sorcerer-apprentice to be like Glenn to rely on wisdom to upgrade one’s constitution to this kind of frightening level under the circumstances of not grasping elemental surge sorcery. This already transcended the cognitive ability of common sorcerer-apprentices.

And when Glenn possessed such a powerful constitution, those low-level elemental surge spells he can ordinarily be able to touch would all be unable to give Glenn any constitutional increase. Glenn also would not have the corresponding elemental surge sorcery knowledge.

The way elemental surge lianti sorcerers upgraded their strength can be divided into two parts: to upgrade basic constitution and to grasp elemental surge sorcery.

Relatively speaking, because elemental surge lianti sorcerers depended on sorcerer knowledge to advance their development, there is even more of a possibility that the disparity of a sorcerer’s strength was quite large. It is classified amongst the three great lianti sorcerers as the most unstable type.

It was only natural this was also one of the basic characteristics of elemental sorcerers. The unstable nature of advancing in rank and the unstable nature of the comparatively large gap in knowledge and strength.

Thirty breaths’ time passed.

Cameron and the wyvern below him simultaneously let out a roar. From the sky, they dove down quickly toward Glenn in an utterly bold and powerful manner.

Taking out the End Sound Dagger, Glenn was actually incomparably tranquil underneath his Ashen Mask. After warping, he next appeared behind Cameron. The dagger in his hand was thrust outwards.

*DING!*

It was a desperate moment where Cameron flipped his pike to brace against Glenn’s End Sound Dagger. He looked at Glenn in shock. For a moment, Cameron could only feel his back drenched with a layer of cold sweat!

Half the reason he was covered in cold sweat was owed to the fact that Glenn’s fantastic methods were drastically different compared to a lianti sorcerer in the capacity of an elemental sorcerer—he simply had not been able to anticipate this time’s space warp. The other reason was on account of the killing intent Glenn had as a dark sorcerer. Once heading into a battle state, dark sorcerers fundamentally just will not want this nonsense of comparing notes, merely having the basic goal of killing their opponent.

Glenn felt the strength coming through the End Sound Dagger and slightly retreated. A moment later, a fire bat took shape at his fingertips, spreading its wings and advancing right toward Cameron.

*ROAR!*

Just at this time, the wyvern underneath Cameron let out a roar. It opened its mouth and a large expanse of smokey ash covered the fire bat at once, following which a huge tail covered in ice-cold scales came sweeping over.

Wyvern lianti sorcerers were extremely controlled and did not have fire resistance on account of their complete ability to rely on the wyvern covered with scales underneath their bodies or its powerful capability of resisting and not being harmed by fire without it being necessary to squander magic.

Glenn thought, ‘Perhaps this can be tested.’

He extended a hand, his five fingers twisting irregularly before, without a single sound, the space before him instantly began to fluctuate and blocked the wyvern’s gigantic tail sweeping towards him. Glenn once again warped away, dodging and evading the wyvern’s two golden claws in addition to Cameron’s pike that was covered with corrosive energy. He reappeared even father away, higher up in the sky.

On Glenn’s forehead, a single golden eye slowly opened up.

“Ah! That is…” Cameron raised his head and caught sight of the golden eye on top of Glenn’s head in a split second. He gave a cry of alarm, feeling the blood in his entire body start to boil over.

*ROARR!*

The wyvern underneath Cameron suddenly puffed out a large amount of thick smoke from its nostrils that had the pungent smell of sulfur, obstructing the sight of Glenn’s golden eye. Following closely from within the thick smoke an arrow covered with corrosive energy fiercely shot out.

What?

Avoiding the corrosive arrow, Glenn stopped to use the spell he originally prepared. Suddenly, a divine light flashed. Conveniently, a move later, a vast amount of water element covered the whole body. And then it all haughtily burst toward the center of the pungent and murky smoke.

A moment later, within the smoke, Cameron yelled out in pain and shouted, “I admit defeat!”

“Daddy. Boo hoo…” Barbara shouted from the ground, pouting and starting to cry.

Peranos looked at Wutong with a smile. “How’s this disciple of mine? This ought to be his first time facing a genuine subterranean wyvern? He unexpectedly already is capable of passing through the boundless eye and cover his body heat signature to mount a sneak attack.”

(Boundless eye is the altered part of the snake eyes of the endless eye. It depends on examining the world through cold and warm radiation and differences in temperature. Water element, earth element, dark element can effectively restrain ice element temperatures lower than the environmental temperature and surrounding temperature gap is large. Only in the case that a large area is altered environment. If not, it may not be controlled. In ice space or broiling warm deserts or similar areas, boundless eyes are “blinded.”)

Wutong gritted his teeth. Enraged, he said coldly, “The Seven-Flavored Fruit Trees are yours!”

These words were practically squeezed out through his gritted teeth.

“Haha. This senior-brother will be impolite then!” Peranos laughed heartily and once again said, “Junior-brother, ah. I need to make this kind of bet in the future again several more times. You are totally capable of making these again to win your stuff back, right? Don’t you also have that plate of vine lotus, white fungus…”
