Chapter 1698: Chapter 393: Chen Jie: Big Bro, I Really Don’t Want to Be the Dharma King!

”Grandpa!”

Liu Caidie suddenly threw herself onto Liu Futong, her eyes brimming with tears of excitement, and Liu Futong was also very happy to see his eldest granddaughter.

He hugged her and said, ”Oh, it’s fine now, it’s fine!”

Pampering her by patting her head, Liu Futong had complex emotions. He felt a sense of indebtedness towards this granddaughter. His son had died in battle on a mission when he was young, leaving behind only this daughter to follow him, an old man.

Therefore, this granddaughter was raised single-handedly by Liu Futong, raised... you know, with great care.

So the relationship between grandfather and granddaughter was very deep. At this moment, Liu Caidie was crying her heart out, and after a long while, Liu Futong patted her back and said, ”Alright, Caidie, stop crying, there are important matters to discuss.”

Liu Caidie looked up and saw the two bloody holes on Liu Futong’s shoulders, and the tears flowed even more uncontrollably.

”Grandpa, your shoulder?”

”Oh, it’s nothing, just minor wounds.”

Liu Futong didn’t pay much attention to his injuries. After all, he had faced many storms in his life; this was merely a slight chill to him.

Liu Futong comforted Liu Caidie and then turned his gaze to Han Ling’er, who immediately stepped forward and bowed, ”Uncle Liu.”

Liu Futong smiled and said, ”Ah, Ling’er, these days must have been filled with worry and fear for you.”

”As long as Uncle is fine, that’s the best news.”

Liu Futong then turned to Mei Tu, Chen Long, and Monkey. At this moment, the three were somewhat apprehensive. After all, strictly speaking, they were traitors under Du Zundao and Mr. Guan. Being looked at by Liu Futong made them tremble all over.

Liu Futong sized them up and said, ”Being able to pull back from the brink and stop the losses in time counts as redeeming your sins.”

”Thank you, Venerable. We know our sins are grave and await your punishment.”

Liu Futong looked at them and said, ”No need for punishment. Saying you’ve redeemed yourselves means you’ve redeemed yourselves. And now the enemy is at the gates of Wangchuan Pass. This is the time for you to fight bravely. Don’t let me down!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Long and the others immediately bowed, ”Rest assured, Venerable, we shall give our all!”

At this moment, Chen Long and the others were unexpectedly obedient, each making vows and pledging to give their all to redeem their past transgressions.

One has to admit, Liu Futong had his methods. With a few words, he had organized these elders into a formidable force.

Finally, Liu Futong turned and looked at Chen Jie.

”Brother.”

Liu Futong hadn’t forgotten his promise to be Chen Jie’s older brother, and so he addressed Chen Jie as brother.

Hearing Liu Futong call Chen Jie brother, Liu Caidie was somewhat stunned.

At this moment, Liu Futong beckoned, ”Caidie, come over here, let me introduce you again. Chen Jiusi, my newly recognized brother, you should call him Uncle.”

Liu Caidie was dumbfounded. In the blink of an eye, Chen Jiusi had become her grandfather; this upgrade happened so fast!

Moreover, not long ago, this guy was clearly her servant. It was like a revolutionary overturn; suddenly transitioning from an old servant to her grandfather. And Chen Jiusi was only four years older than her.

They were clearly peers, how could he suddenly become her grandfather?

Liu Caidie was not very willing, and Chen Jie, smiling, looked at her and said, ”Hurry and call him Grandpa.”

Liu Caidie gave Chen Jie an angry glare and reluctantly said, ”Grand, Grandpa.”

Liu Futong could see the small interactions between Chen Jie and Liu Caidie, their mutual reluctance, so he merely smiled without saying much. He actually had his own reasons for doing this.

He once again explained the identity of his brother Chen Jiusi, and then Liu Futong gathered everyone together.

Getting straight to the point, he looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Brother, you’ve learned our Zoroastrian Sect’s Qiankun Great Method, right?”

Chen Jie was taken aback, unsure of what Liu Futong meant by this. However, the fact that he knew the Qiankun Great Method was not something he could hide, and for a moment, he didn’t know how to respond.

At this moment, Liu Futong said, ”Brother, don’t be nervous. Although the Qiankun Great Method is our Zoroastrian Sect’s sect’s skill and theoretically not allowed to be learned by outsiders, I’m not some stubborn old fool. Everything has its exceptions. Since you’re my brother, you’re also considered part of our Zoroastrian Sect. Just as Du Zundao betrayed the sect, the Dharma King’s position he left vacant, I present it to you, brother.”

”Ah?”

Chen Jie didn’t expect Liu Futong to promote him on the spot, leaving him in charge of the Dharma King’s position left by Du Zundao.

Chen Jie looked at Liu Futong and said, ”Brother Liu, I... I haven’t contributed to your sect, so suddenly being given such a high position might not gain the approval of others.”

Liu Futong said, ”I agree, and who would dare disagree? The three of you disagree?”

Liu Futong looked at Chen Long, Mei Tu, Monkey, and the three shook their heads in fear, ”No, we agree, we agree.”

Seeing the three being sensible, Liu Futong looked at Chen Jie and said, ”You see, no one disagrees.”

Chen Jie said, ”But, Brother Liu, I’m with Brother Peng, this doesn’t seem appropriate...”

Chen Jie stammered, knowing full well what Chen Jie was worried about. At this moment, Liu Futong said, ”Rest assured, your position as Dharma King is a secret, known only to those present. It won’t affect your usual affairs. Moreover, I know you have ambition and won’t wish to assist others. Rest assured, this is merely an honorary title that doesn’t involve participation in the Holy Sect’s specific matters. Treat it as a gift from me for saving me.”

Chen Jie understood Liu Futong’s words. Liu Futong’s intention was simple: Chen Jie could enjoy the privilege without bearing any responsibilities. Such a good deal, Chen Jie naturally had no reason to refuse.
