Chapter 1679: Chapter 388: Chen Jie: Han Dharma King, I’ve Come to Collect Your Life! (2)

But is it possible?

Absolutely not possible. Who is Liu Futong? He is one of the Three Venerables of the Zoroastrian Sect. Simply put, the power that the Zoroastrian Sect has today was fought for by the Three Venerables with their lives.

Before the Three Venerables, this Zoroastrian Sect was just a first-rate power, similar to the Six Great Sects. But after the Three Venerables, it became a super major sect, capable of challenging the entire Six Great Sects by itself, provided, of course, that Wudang Zhang Sanfeng does not intervene.

And each of the Three Venerables has their own pride; they cannot be bent by force, nor lured away by poverty. Truly thinking that locking Liu Futong in a dark room would make him submit is merely wishful thinking.

But then again?

Sometimes, people need to indulge in a bit of wishful thinking. Han Miaozhen thought so, and wondered what if her wishful thinking succeeded?

With that in mind, she looked at Liu Futong and said: ”Venerable, how many days has it been? Why are you still unable to figure it out? Han Lin’er is a good child, but he is just a child; he cannot win the hearts of the people. Our Holy Sect needs a Sect Hierarch with an iron hand, and Du Zundao, Dharma King Du, is the most suitable for this. Why don’t you think about the Holy Sect?”

”Think of the Holy Sect or of yourself?”

Liu Futong looked at Han Miaozhen. Han Miaozhen replied, ”Fine, even if it’s thinking of ourselves, aren’t we part of the Holy Sect?”

”Traitors to the sect dare to call themselves disciples of my Holy Sect. As I recall, the first thing I taught you upon entry was loyalty and righteousness, wasn’t it?”

Liu Futong coldly spoke.

”Venerable, your words are far too grave. Who are the traitors? We are all wholeheartedly for the good of the Holy Sect. Moreover, even without us, there will be others. This is something you have to confront; Han Lin’er is too young and without great achievements, and yet you want him to succeed as Sect Hierarch. Go and see how many are willing to accept that.”

”People simply do not tell you, but in fact, the blame falls on you. If back then you had directly succeeded as Sect Hierarch, none of these things would be happening today.”

”Now the Holy Sect is falling apart, with everyone divided. Venerable, have you never reflected on your own mistakes?”

Hearing these words, Liu Futong remained silent, looked at Han Miaozhen, and said: ”These are merely words of sophistry. If you did not harbor base thoughts, how could the elevation of the young master have stirred thoughts of rebellion in you? What is the point of saying these things now?”

Han Miaozhen countered: ”Venerable, if one does not think of oneself, the heavens will strike them down. Who in this world doesn’t have a few crooked thoughts? I have them, Dharma King Du has them, and in fact, you have them too.”

”And your error lies in giving us the chance to entertain such thoughts.”

”If back then you had directly become the Sect Hierarch, I, Dharma King Du, and Guan Dharma King would surely have been excellent subordinates. Han Lin’er and his sister would have grown robustly under your protection, and we would have been good uncles and aunts to them.”

”But you, you gave us the chance to entertain such thoughts, so don’t blame us. You are the culprit for the current state of affairs.”

As Han Miaozhen spoke, she slowly sat down in front of Liu Futong: ”As an elder, having provoked the competitive hearts of the younger generation, you should help us resolve this matter.”

”Surely, you’ve heard by now, the court has begun its assault at the foot of the mountain. I’ve just received a battle report from the front line; the court has dispatched sixty thousand troops, and among them are many of your old friends, such as Treasure Elephant Army Commander Boluo Timur, King Qi Li Siqi, and Ruyang King Chaghan Timur.”

”Three Heavenly List Experts, and at present, only Mr. Guan is resisting on the front line, defeat is merely a matter of time.”

Hmm!

Liu Futong’s expression darkened as he said: ”Where is Du Zundao? What is he doing? Has he fled the battle?”

Han Miaozhen replied: ”No, no, Dharma King Du is at the Ruins, and has likely already acquired the Qiankun Great Method. In fact, with the Qiankun Great Method, he can become Sect Hierarch without your consent.”

Liu Futong remained silent, while Han Miaozhen continued: ”But our Dharma King Du still has the Holy Sect in his heart. If he assumes the position of Sect Hierarch with the Qiankun Great Method, some of your loyal followers may be disgruntled, causing him sleepless nights and leading him to purge the dissenters. This would greatly weaken the strength within the sect, a situation that would hurt allies and delight foes.”

”So, to prevent self-destruction within the Zoroastrian Sect, I advised Dharma King to have you, the Venerable, depose the Little Ming King. The child is too young to handle such a significant role; pushing him into it only causes suffering. Wouldn’t it be better to relieve him of this heavy burden, allowing the child to develop better in other ways?”

Han Miaozhen looked at Liu Futong, gently guiding him.

Liu Futong stared at Han Miaozhen and said: ”You all have improper intentions and are unfit for responsibility.”

Han Miaozhen replied: ”Venerable, at this point, why do you still hold so many prejudices? Time is not on your side. If you agree, the Dharma King has assured that when we withdraw from Bright Peak, the Little Ming King will remain unharmed.”

”But if you don’t agree, Venerable.”

”What do you intend?”

Han Miaozhen said: ”The court’s men are extremely ferocious; the Little Ming King will perish at Bright Peak, sacrificing himself for the Holy Sect.”

”Good, good, haha... you truly are ruthless and vicious!”

Liu Futong laughed out of exasperation at Han Miaozhen, whose expression was not pleasant either, as she coldly stated: ”Venerable, give a straightforward answer. Han Lin’er, do you want him to live or die?”

Liu Futong looked at Han Miaozhen and said: ”Do you really want to go this far? Aren’t you afraid of retribution?”

Han Miaozhen replied: ”Retribution, who could exact retribution upon us? As long as the Venerable nods, everything is not a problem.”
