Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 1667: Chapter 385: Ruins Sanctuary, Chen Jie Reclaims the Four Great Elders

Chen Jie contemplated for a moment and said with a gleam in his eye: ”Chen Long, Chou Niu, Mei Tu, and this Monkey, I’m going to set up a last-place elimination system among you four. In a moment, Chen Long will go to the Ice Sealed Maze, Chou Niu to the Desert Oasis, Mei Tu to the Shadow Forest, and Monkey to the Illusion Mist Swamp. All of you will go gather medicinal herbs for me.”

”When the time comes, I want all ten kinds of herbs, none missing. I’ll see who among you brings me the most herbs. Then, you four will compete. If I don’t find all ten herbs, then I’ll kill. If all are found, whoever ranks last will be killed. This is the last-place elimination. Got it?”

Chen Jie smiled slyly at the Four Great Elders standing before him, their faces ashen with anger.

Chou Niu said, ”This is too much. How can we find herbs in such a vast Secret Realm? You just want to kill us!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie pointed at Chou Niu and said, ”Ah, you’re right. We are sworn enemies, life-and-death foes, and I do intend to kill you. But now, I’m giving you a chance. If you don’t seize it, I can start the killing right now.”

”Shall I start with you?”

Chen Jie pointed at Chou Niu, whose face instantly turned unsightly. But at that moment, Mei Tu suddenly stepped forward, saying: ”Oh, Grandpa Chen, don’t listen to this stubborn old cow. He’s just thick-headed and doesn’t understand your kindness. Please spare him.”

”Yes, yes, we’ll go looking right away.”

Chen Long immediately spoke up.

He was a clever man, aware of the change in circumstances. Facing an uphill battle, being defiant to the one with the upper hand was suicidal, wasn’t it?

Only Old Niu would dare question the authority. If it were him, he wouldn’t have the courage.

Chen Jie looked at Chen Long without acknowledging him. After a brief interaction, Chen Jie quickly discerned Chen Long’s nature—a slippery old eel, very cunning.

Wondering how he could tell that Chen Long was cunning, he noticed that, except for the bruise on his face, he had no other injuries.

In contrast, Elder Chou Niu appeared thoroughly beaten, with marks and bruises all over his face, nose, and body.

No choice, his stubbornness led to Chen Jie hammering him into submission, yet he still harbored some resentment.

Chen Jie glanced at Chou Niu and asked, ”Do you still have any questions?”

Chou Niu replied, ”Well, it’s no use talking if we’re not allowed, don’t really have any questions.”

Chen Jie said, ”Haha, good, very good. No questions, that’s great. Go ahead, fulfill your great mission, and gather herbs for me.”

With these words, Chen Long pulled Chou Niu along to leave.

At that moment, Monkey extended his hand and said, ”Well...”

Chen Jie turned to Monkey, and Elder Monkey said, ”I’m not Du Zundao’s man. I have no hostility toward you. I’m actually here to protect the Saintess.”

Chen Jie nodded, seemingly understanding.

Elder Monkey felt delighted.

”Hmm, and then?”

Chen Jie looked at Elder Monkey, who was bewildered and said, ”What then? I’m one of yours.”

”Yes, so you don’t want to help me look for herbs?”

With a dangerous look in his eyes, Chen Jie stared at Elder Monkey, whose face changed dramatically, saying, ”No, no.”

”Then hurry up and go.”

At these words, Elder Monkey turned and headed toward his assigned task location.

At that moment, Elder Chen Long whispered softly, ”Monkey, this kid doesn’t recognize kinship. Trying to cozy up to him is a joke.”

”Listen to me, diligently gather herbs. Delaying at most for two hours, these Ruins will open up. Then we can escape, and combined with Dharma King, let’s see how this kid handles it!”

”Well, I’ll give you at most one and a half hours. If you’re not back by then, it will be considered a violation. I will find you and kill you. You know, within these Ruins, wherever I want to go, with a blink, I’m there. Don’t even think about escaping.”

Chen Long’s plan seemed perfect, but the Demon rises, and the Tao ascends even higher. Chen Long wanted to play with timing, but Chen Jie already blocked the way.

Upon hearing this, Chen Long’s face turned drastically.

Monkey looked at him and said, ”Only you’re clever. Just work diligently. Find all ten kinds of herbs, and gather more to measure superiority to avoid last-place elimination. Hurry up.”

Just then, Chen Long’s face turned dark and impossibly grim, his little tricks revealed as indeed challenging. He could only sulk, showing a sullen face.

”Monkey, if we compete like this, we’ll really fall for that kid’s trap. Won’t we be eliminated then? Let’s all find the same kinds of herbs. Besides the ten essential ones he wants, we can each gather an extra one. This way, everyone has the same amount, and the law won’t apply to everyone. We can ignore his last-place elimination.”

Upon hearing this, Monkey smiled and said, ”All right.”

Yet inside he thought, this old eel is indeed wicked. I mustn’t fall into his trap. He might secretly gather two extra ones instead of one, leading to my demise, right?

Meanwhile, Chen Long mused inwardly, Monkey’s really cunning, even more so than a real monkey. I shouldn’t just gather an additional herb. I need to gather several more instead.

Only the simple-minded Chou Niu thought, ”Hmm, Chen Long is smart. Everyone gathers one more, let’s see if he dares kill us all!”

The three left with different mindsets, while Chen Jie understood their small schemes, choosing not to expose them.

But at that moment, Chen Jie turned around and saw a motionless Mei Tu standing there.
