Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 1678: Chapter 388: Chen Jie: Han Dharma King, I’ve Come to Take You!

The plan was set. Next, Chen Jie immediately arranged the action.

The key to this action was how to hold back Du Zundao. As long as Du Zundao did not move, Han Miaozhen alone would not cause much trouble.

Two groups set out under Chen Jie’s arrangement, one group took Du Xiong to search for Du Zundao in the Ruins, while the other went to the Liu Residence to rescue Liu Futong.

At this time, the Liu Residence!

In the pitch-black room, not even an oil lamp was lit, and the windows all around had been sealed with wood, not allowing a single ray of light to penetrate.

Four thick iron chains extended from the corners of the room; two of them were tied to Liu Futong’s feet.

Two of them had large iron hooks that hooked into Liu Futong’s scapula, completely disabling his inner strength and preventing him from breaking free from the chains.

Inside the room, there were no decorations. All the cabinets and bed had been removed, leaving just dry straw spread on the floor. Liu Futong sat there with his eyes closed.

Yet his ears were listening intently to the sounds outside. His face showed no sign of emotion, but his furrowed brows were visible.

His face was full of worry now, his clothes were ragged and stained with dry blood, leaving him disheveled with none of the grandeur of the former Heavenly List figure.

If someone saw him now, they wouldn’t believe this was the once-revered leader, the seventh on the Heavenly List, Yushan Monk Liu Futong.

This was like a tiger fallen to a distant plain.

With his eyes closed, Liu Futong had the personal guards of Du Zundao standing outside, and there wasn’t even a fly inside the room. Du Zundao intended to use such complete darkness to drive Liu Futong to madness.

After all, such a small dark room type of torture is easy to break down anyone who isn’t mentally strong.

Liu Futong, like a stinking bug in the dark, had fallen from being the once Zoroastrian Three Venerables to a prisoner, yet he hadn’t screamed or shouted once.

He had seen darkness, so naturally, he was not afraid of it.

Just then, two guards outside said, ”Dharma King.”

”Open the door.”

”Yes.”

Creak...

The door was pushed open, and immediately Han Miaozhen walked in carrying an oil lamp, followed by a servant holding a food box.

Tap tap tap...

Han Miaozhen walked up to Liu Futong, looking down at the person she once looked up to, with mixed feelings of loss, satisfaction, and slight smugness in her gaze.

Liu Futong heard the commotion, slowly opened his eyes, glanced at Han Miaozhen, and said, ”You’ve come.”

Han Miaozhen said, ”I came to see Venerable one, I don’t know if the Venerable one has thought it through. As long as you are willing to perform the act of forced succession, I assure you no harm will come to you.”

Han Miaozhen and Du Zundao imprisoned Liu Futong here, even using this ’small dark room’ to torment his mind, all in order to make Liu Futong surrender.

What was Du Zundao’s core goal? That’s right, it was to become the Sect Hierarch.

And to become the Sect Hierarch, there are three methods: The first is forceful seizure, like killing Liu Futong, Han Ling’er, and everyone related, and finally become the Sect Hierarch himself. However, the side effects are immense.

Throughout history, those who gained power improperly are bound to face disaster. The Zoroastrian Sect members wouldn’t accept someone who rose to power through bloody means, so even if successful, the resulting sect wouldn’t be the one Du Zundao desired.

Apart from this, the second method is what Du Zundao is doing now, which is to exploit the fact that the Little Ming King cannot perform the Qiankun Great Method, using the rule that only those who can perform the method can be the sect leader.

Using this point to forcibly replace the Little Ming King, which lacks the overt rebellious intent of the first method.

But the drawback is also evident, while it may pass formally, deep down everyone has their own opinions, thinking that the Qiankun Great Method is just a cover.

Apart from the above two, there is the third method, which involves having one of the remaining and highly respected Three Venerables, Yushan Monk, personally deposing the Little Ming King, and then acknowledging Du Zundao’s legitimate succession.

Then Du Zundao’s status would be secure, knowing that when Han Shantong died, the entire Zoroastrian Sect was in a state of disintegration, and the only reason it continued was because of the support of the Yushan Monk.

In fact, after Han Shantong’s death, Yushan Monk was the spiritual leader of the sect, and everyone basically viewed him as the sect leader in their hearts.

Had Liu Futong at that time called for himself to become the sect leader, the Zoroastrian Sect wouldn’t have faced its current troubles.

Du Zundao wouldn’t have dared to have second thoughts, but Liu Futong insisted on supporting a teenager as the sect leader, which couldn’t subdue the unruly and tough warriors under him.

Over time, naturally, dissenting minds would arise.

But for all these reasons, Liu Futong’s position became prominent. Since he established the Little Ming King, the one who could depose him naturally was Liu Futong; Liu Futong naturally had this right.

So, Liu Futong could say, ”I think Little Ming King cannot continue as the sect leader. I recommend Du Zundao for the position.”

Then Du Zundao would be the rightful successor, and later acquire the Qiankun Great Method.

Then it would be firmly established that he is the rightful candidate for Sect Hierarch, with strength, doctrine, and legitimacy all perfect for succession.

Therefore, Du Zundao and Han Miaozhen dream of making Liu Futong comply, getting Liu Futong to personally enact the forced succession, pulling the Little Ming King down from the sect leader position.
