Chapter 534: Chapter 172 Chen Jiusi’s Trap within a Trap (Seeking Subscriptions)_3

”You’re saying this won’t cause panic?”

”Of course it will cause panic, but even within that panic lies opportunity,” Old Arutai was the first to react. ”Opportunity has come.”

He immediately rushed over and upon arrival, he intended to wipe off the markings and the Zoroastrian Sect’s sign on the door. But before he could destroy the evidence, Wu Hong and others arrived and there wasn’t enough time.

Then Old Arutai planned to find a witness and went directly to the paralyzed Mother of Tara.

This old lady, after the intimidation yesterday and the loss of her relatives, was already in a lot of pain, but fortunately, she had come through years of hardship and was still lucid.

Old Arutai looked at the old lady and asked, ”Old sister, did you see the murderer clearly?”

The old lady said, ”I saw clearly. I’ll never forget their faces even in my dreams!”

”What did they look like?”

The old lady said, ”Their faces were covered. I didn’t see clearly, but I’m certain it was two women, two women vicious as vipers!”

Old Arutai, ”Hmm, note that down. Covered faces, two men speaking the local dialect, likely Xiantao people!”

The old lady: Huh??

”They were women, not men!”

The old lady emphasized again, at this point Old Arutai said, ”Hmm, understand, two men...”

The old lady, ”I want to see someone from the government!”

Old Arutai, ”Hmm, you need to rest. Okay, see to it that no one disturbs her!”

...

That’s what led to the scene just now where Old Arutai blocked Wu Hong!

This dirty water must be thrown onto Chen Jiusi; his salt fields are earning far too much. Such a lucrative business should belong to us, the Mulan people.

Wu Hong frowned and said, ”Mr. Arutai, your words are just one side of the story. Do you have a witness?”

”Yes!”

Old Arutai clapped his hands, and soon two servants looking panicked were brought forward, and immediately they knelt on the ground.

”These are slaves from Tara’s family. They witnessed everything last night!”

Old Arutai turned his head and said to them, ”The arrest officer wants to know about last night’s affair. You tell the arrest officer.”

The two servants exchanged glances and said, ”It was Chen Jiusi. Chen Jiusi killed the whole master’s family!”

Wu Hong narrowed his eyes and said, ”You recognize Chen Jiusi?”

The two servants instinctively glanced at Old Arutai; Old Arutai nodded, and the servants said, ”The renowned Hall Master of White Tiger Hall, who doesn’t recognize him? Of course, we do.”

”Oh, it’s good that you recognize him. I’ll ask you this, how tall is Chen Jiusi, is his complexion dark or fair, are his eyebrows thick or thin, are his eyes large or small?”

Wu Hong asked the two servants.

”This...”

The two servants were suddenly stuck. They looked at Old Arutai, who frowned and angrily said, ”You two useless fools, what are you rambling about? Didn’t you say you saw Chen Jiusi with a masked face last night? You didn’t see clearly, did you?”

”Right, right, we didn’t see clearly.”

The two servants quickly responded, to which Wu Hong furrowed his brows and said, ”If you didn’t see him, how are you sure it was Chen Jiusi?”

”This?”

The two glanced at Old Arutai again, who said, ”Didn’t you say you recognized Chen Jiusi’s voice?”

They promptly said, ”Yes, yes, we recognized Chen Jiusi’s voice.”

Hearing this, Wu Hong chuckled coldly and said, ”Heh, well, since you can recognize his voice, why don’t we conduct an experiment? I’ll call Chen Jiusi over and bring a group of people; then you identify Chen Jiusi’s voice from them.”

”This~”

The two servants were suddenly at a loss for words. Old Arutai frowned, then turned his head and glared at Wu Hong, saying, ”Are you deliberately trying to pick a fight?”

Wu Hong said, ”I am not. It seems to me you’re the one trying to frame someone else, aren’t you?”

”Framing? Haha, what a joke. We Mulan people, so noble, would we frame someone? Alright, you may go now. This case of the Mulan people will naturally be handled by Darugachi Mansion. There is no need for Han constables.”

Upon hearing this, Wu Hong looked at Old Arutai and said, ”Fine. But, old gentleman, let me advise you, the court has laws, and actions should not be too reckless.”

After speaking, Wu Hong clasped his fists and turned to leave, his disdain for this group of Mulan people having reached its peak.

But why would these Mulan people have targeted Jiusi? Had Jiusi offended them?

No, I must find a way to send a message to Jiusi.

Old Arutai watched Wu Hong’s departing figure, a sneer emerging on his face: ”Heh... court laws? Those are nothing but tools used by us, the Mulan people, to govern you Han people. Why would we be constrained by any laws? Heh, truly laughable to the extreme!”

Old Arutai shook his head with a laugh and then said to the person beside him, ”Gather the representatives from each family, come with me to Darugachi Mansion. I refuse to believe there’s no place where we can seek justice!”

...

At Darugachi Mansion, Yelu was enjoying his breakfast. He had a rich assortment of more than a dozen choices, including Han people’s steamed buns and deep-fried dough sticks, and Mongolians’ milk-based buns and fresh milk porridge, among others.

Yelu sat there at that moment.

A young maiden of twenty-eight peeled a shrimp, dipped it lightly in the sauce, and fed it to Yelu.

Yelu savored the sweetness of the shrimp, followed by a mouthful of fresh milk porridge a maid put into his mouth.

Nobles who enjoy luxury don’t lift a finger when eating.

Yelu, born into an affluent family, naturally knew how to enjoy life. Just as he was savoring his meal, a flurry of urgent footsteps sounded outside. Qimu Ge entered the room.

”Master.”

Yelu swallowed the fresh milk porridge in his mouth and asked, ”What has you in such a rush?”

Upon hearing this, Qimu Ge said, ”Master, there’s trouble. Old Arutai has brought a hundred Mulan people and blocked our mansion’s gates, clamoring for the master to deliver justice for them.”
